Top Local Tips for Charleston

Charleston Crab House They have a few locations, we went to the one on Jame's Island. It was our mission to see the upside down crab sign, and it is the original location. We had lunch and it was reasonably priced and food was great! It is a short drive away from the Historic District. The "Crab Puppies" were really good, we're northerners and had no idea what hush puppies were but I think their spin on it was a good treat for first timers!

Carriage tours We took a carriage tour and even though it was cold, it was a very enjoyable experience. The tour guide was interesting and funny. A great way to see the city.

There are trolleys Everything downtown is within walking distance however if you get tired of walking and do not want to spring for a carriage ride around town the Trolleys arethe way to go. You can ride all day as many times as you want for $4.00. Defintiely the best way to get around if you are not staying downtown, you can park at the visitor center and take a trolley anywhere
