t Stay at this Hotel

Oh my God!! No way I stay at this hotel ever in my life. Not even if they give me the rooms for free. First, my room was a two double bed room but honestly only one bed fits on that room, the room is too small. Second, the TV set is very old. TV's not even have jacks to connect my portable DVD, no PPV movies or any of the interactive choices you can have in any hotel TV in the 21st century. Third, the internet service is awful, very very very slowwww. Now I understand why they gave this service for free. By the way, do not try to use the internet service at peak hours( 7:00 PM - 11:00PM) it's a waste of time. Oh, this is the first hotel I visit that the maid knock my door to turn down my room at 5:00 PM in the afternoon. Breakfast is very expensive , 2 eggs 3 strip of bacon , coffee , bread and orange juice (concentrate not even Tropicana) $ 20:00 buck + tip.

I stay at this hotel because of a meeting I have on it and not because I choose to stay in it. I always use Tripadvisor to select my hotels and this is my first review here. For that reason I want everybody to know my opinion about this property.

High price for a Motel 6 style hotel.

A great experience

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The people at the front desk were helpful, but we had to rely on them if we needed anything in our room (eg batteries for our DVD remote). I had read some reviews before we arrived and deduced correctly that the people who thought the rooms were terrible stayed in the old rooms. I don't know if we just happened to get a good rate, but a regular room was only $99/night. For an extra $59/night we upgraded to a newly redecorated room with a beautiful view, and it was well worth it. I am quite fussy about cleanliness, but our room was very clean. Also, the hotel is just a few minutes from downtown Charleston. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, but loved the quaint Boulevard Diner down the road, which was recommended by the concierge.

Staff Unfairly Criticized!

We actually had to end up cancelling the rest of our stay because of a family issue, but the staff was great before and after. I don't understand the criticism of the staff. Both the hotel manager and reservations manager were nice and accommodating. Maybe if people approached the help with respect you'd get a positive response in return.

Great Location, Service Could Be Better

Pros:
The property is very lovely and the location is perfect, about 15 minute drive to Historic Charleston, 15 minute drive to beautiful Isle of Palms beaches, and just around the corner from the Naval Museum. There are also several nearby restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, movie theater, and pedestrian walkway over the new suspension bridge.

When we arrived chose to valet the car (reasonable at $4 per day) and our bags were quickly brought up to the room.

Pool area is very nice with a sandy beach area (not a swimming beach, which is cleary noted on their website) and a walking pier which offer great views of the river and boat watching.

The artwork in the hallways is lovely and the breakfast at the restaurant was quite good (bacon and cheese grits are best) although pricey at 16pp.

Cons:
They do not have connecting rooms which is tricky for larger families needing two rooms (like us). The rooms are small but were clean, the drawers did smell old and there wasn't an iron, fridge, or coffee pot.

The bathrooms are more what I would expect from a Holiday Inn hotel room, small with cheap towels although the soaps were nice.

The beds were comforable although for the price point would have expected nicer linens.

The valet seemed to always be under staffed and at times not staffed at all so we did have to track down someone to retrieve or park our car several times which was frustrating and time consuming.

Overall we loved our trip to the Charleston area, thought the location was ideal but would probably not choose this property again. I think they property has some good points, but agree it just doesn't quite make it to a "resort" level property.

What a disappointment!!!

What a disappointment!!! Resort prices but not a resort. This is no more that a Hotel Six with a view. The view was nice but no beach access as stated in ad. Staff was not friendly or helpful. No valet, no bell service. We had to locate a cart to take our own bags to our rooms. When we checked out it was the same story. No one to help. There was no ironing board, no coffee maker, and no refridgerator. Coffee was not available in the lobby until 7:15 am and it is self serve. I've stayed at Holiday Inn Express much nicer than this. Quality Inn is just down the street, I'd suggest going there and save some money.

The Harbor resort and marina was a great location just next to the aircraft carrier tour of the Yorktown ...well worth the what I thought was expensive admission fee of $15.00. Abeautiful bridge acrss to Charleston downtown is just down the road. You will love the Patriots Point area of Mt. Pleasant SC. It is well maintained , modern and new with a touch of class of the antebellum era.
The hotel has all new carpet and paint with a great hot tub and pool and an very welcoming bar and sitting area in the back viewing the marina.

However expect no amenities in the room such a fridge, microwave, ironing board. there is a small older looking TV..but they do have HBO. Parking is free and very accessible. I was most disappointed that the "continental breakfst" was $11.00.. no one was taking them up on that...it should be included in your stay to add a touch of style or at least make it a full breakifast at that price. I would stay again ..but not at their 139.00 price..but Hotwire got me in at $86.00. I would give this 4 stars with a few moreof the touches I mentioned.

Too pricey, not for large families

We lived in Mt. Pleasant 12 years ago and know the area well. We wanted to stay at Charleston Harbor with our children because of the easy access to the new bridge/downtown Charleston area as well as the convenience of Mt. Pleasant. We arrived well after 3:00 to find that our "rooms" were not ready. We have 4 children and needed 2 rooms. They do not have adjoining rooms and saw no problem in putting us on 2 DIFFERENT floors. I told them that was fine...they could deal with my 5 year old when she roamed the halls in the middle of the night. The front desk finally saw a reason to give us 2 rooms, side by side. At almost 4:00, the rooms were still not ready! We finally got to our rooms a little later...small, musty, almost damp! No refridgerator or microwave...kind of hard to travel with that many children and live out of a cooler!! There was never enough chairs by the pool to enjoy the area. The beachy area is a nice touch, but the Friday night "Point Parties" have taken a toll on the sand. It's full of broken glass, cig. butts and bottle caps! Not a place for children to play!!
Each day, our rooms were never cleaned before 4:00 but housekeeping was quick to come by for "turn down" service by 6:00!
The morning we left, housekeeping showed up at 9:00 to clean...how convenient!
This place was way over priced for the service that we got! This will be our last stay at Charleston Harbor!

HATED IT! Waste of money! Mang. VERY RUDE. They do not care.

This was a nightmare stay. I was celebrating my ten-year anniversary. I CLEARLY stated I wanted a room overlooking the ocean with a beach and a refrigerator. The resort is not even on the ocean! They have sand, but it does not go to the water. You are not even allowed to swim in the water. I asked for a “beach” when making the reservation, but the front desk stated it was ten minutes away. They never provided the frig. The resort clearly will lie to you for the reservation and then you are stuck! Management did not care at all and were extremely rude. The Operations Manager, Oliver Rooskens, refuses to even speak with me. I have found that the Brother Property Management Corporation ((--)) claims to have this property, but Steve has failed to call at this time. I paid $267 for the room and I would have enjoyed sleeping in the car versus staying at the Charleston Harbor Resort.

Do Not Stay Here

My family and I stayed at this facility on a Friday and Saturday evening. On Friday evening there was a large banquet going on at the hotel and we were told to park at the gravel parking lot on the side of the hotel. Apparently there was no room for hotel guests to park at the front of the hotel. After parking at the gravel lot on the side, we then proceeded to enter the hotel from the side. Unfortunately, we were told by a police officer, dressed in shorts and a tee shirt, with a gun and a badge, that we could not enter there because we were not guests at the party going on at that time. This officer was rude, unprofessional and antagonistic. After complaining at the front desk about this situation, the employees there were also rude and unaccommodating. On Saturday evening, it was again necessary for us to park at the gravel lot because of a wedding going on at that time.

Also, when we went to the concierge's desk to ask about harbor tours of the area, she was not aware of any. After we checked one of the travel guides that we brought with us, we discovered that there were in fact two harbor tours departing from right next door to the hotel. How is it possible that the woman at the concierge's desk did not know this? She also was not very friendly or obviously very helpful either.

The location of the hotel is ideal and the views are pretty, but please do not subject you and your family to the employees that work there.

Way too expensive for what you get

Not worth the money. Way too expensive for what you get. Disappointed - we would have left if we were not there for a wedding. Most people that were there for the wedding were disappointed and would not return. Some family stayed down the street at Quality Inn for a fraction of thr price and were very happy and they got free breakfast every morning.
The view is about all this hotel offers. Rooms are small and outdated although there are some rooms that have been renovated. Not a customer friendly resort. Rooms do not have an iron or ironing board (have to be requested). Hair dryer is cheap. Our 1 bedroom suite had no safe, no vcr/dvd player, was small and very musty smelling and very expensive. Oh yeah and my friend checked in at night and the front desk employee could not figure out how to give her a room key so she gave her a master - yes a master which would open any door. Scary!

Top Local Tips for Charleston

Close to many sites Great location to stay if you want to avoid the hight prices in the Historic District. Mount Pleasant is a safe, attractive area with lots of shopping, dining, and beaches nearby. It's a very short drive 5 - 10 minutes, depending where you stay, to downtown. Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant is also the departure point for Ft. Sumtner tours as well as a naval exhibit including a WWII aircraft carrier and submarine.

Great place to eat while in Mt Pleasant, SC A great locals eatey is the Boulevard Diner on Coleman Blvd. Fresh food and vegetables daily. Also have daily fresh seafood specials. It is located in non descript building which used to be a Dairy Queen. Awesome place...we loved it!

Locklears Excellent Sunday breakfast at Locklears at great prices.
