Gullah Cuisine This unpretentious restaurant is actually in Mount Pleasant (on Hwy 17 North across the fabulous Arthur J. Ravenell bridge), but is only about a 10 minute drive from downtown Charleston. If you are looking for authentic Gullah cooking, this is it! The lunch buffet features the best Southern cooking, using fresh local ingredients and the dinner menu offers low country delicacies such as shrinp and grits, gumbos and stews. My husband and I just returned from 3 days of dining in some of the finest restaruants in the Charleston and agree that this one is the one we will return to first! Another plus, the prices are very reasonable.

Don't miss.... Even if it's hot and humid do not miss the horse-drawn carriage tour. It gives such an lovely view of old time Charleston. We also loved the evening Ghosts and Graveyard walking tour by Bull Dog Tours!
