Top Local Tips for Aiken

MUST SEE polo match! Pack a picnic lunch and visit a polo match between April and June or September and November. The cost for the championship match we visited was only $5 per person. We tailgated with the locals and enjoyed the action from a mere 10 yards away from "the boards". This is NOT an appropriate setting for young children as both the ball and the horses often QUICKLY jump cross the boards. Wear "stomping" shoes as it is the expecation that all onlookers help stomp divots in the field between periods (chukkers).
