Historical Traveller Reviews of Sheraton Providence Airport Hotel

Nothing Special..

from baebeecakes
I think the hotel was a bit overpriced for what we got..The swimming pool, hot tub, and fitness center was decent. The room needed a major upgrade! Come on..it's a Sheraton..! It feels rundown..and you can hear television blasting from the next room. Staff was nice. Parking was a bit a hastle. The Crowne Plaza would have been a better choice.

Better than expected

from JamboAl
After reading some of the negative reviews of this hotel, I was a bit hesitant to stay here. However, since I was using Starwood points only, I decided to give this location a try for a couple of nights. I was actually pleasantly surprised. The staff were all so friendly; check-in was a breeze (even got an upgrade to Club Level) and the room was clean and functional albeit showing its age a bit. Having said that, I wouldn't think twice about recommending this hotel as long as you pay a price which isn't over the top (e.g. < $125).

an okay experience

from santokkie
THE GOOD
--the price. we booked one night through hotwire for about $65/night.
--bedding and sheets were clean.
--for a quick, no fuss night, it was fine.
--quick and easy check in and check out.
--free wireless throughout hotel and two free computers in the lobby.
--a nicer pool that looked to be popular with guests.

THE BAD
--the exterior of the building is quite scary and decrepid. it looks unnervingly rundown.
--our room on the 1st floor (facing the parking lot) was tired and worn.
--our king size bed dipped considerably in the center.
--the two free papers at our door in the morning was a plus but i would have much rather preferred a nytimes, usa today or even wall street journal rather htan the local providence paper.
--the rooms are older and worn.

BOTTOM LINE:
this hotel is good if you are looking for a cheap, easy, no-fuss place to crash for one or two nights... but that's it. it's probably not ideal for that great family vacation or romantic getaway. that being said, i am still a bit surprised that this is a sheraton hotel.

Noisy, tired and frustrating service

from eastwinds
We stayed here in the middle of July and only stayed here because of the rate. We were put in a tired looking room, facing onto the car park, on a corridor leading to the bar and restaurant which were on the same floor. I and my two kids finally got to sleep sometime after 1.30am when the noise of people returning from the bar had died down, and were awoken to a crane outside of our window around 7.30am. We had not been told at check-in that there would be a crane, although upon checking out we were told that a crane had been expected. Breakfast was the longest meal of the day, with one waitress and three tables we might have been forgiven for thinking that we would be in and out, but not so.....overall I would not go back, even if the rate ran to one digit.

Solid

I usually book through Hotwire, but I found the best deal in Providence on their website.

We flew in late from the west coast and wanted a decent place to sleep for the evening before heading to Boston. I picked this because it was close to the airport and has a shuttle.

Although we were there briefly, everything was fine. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well appointed and extremely quiet. Our breakfast was OK (a bit salty). The staff was very friendly.

There were a number of airline crews staying there too. I take that as a good sign.

our stay

Had a great stay at The Airport Sheraton this past October. Room nice. Comfortable bed. Nice Club Room...very convienent for that cup of tea or soda. Brian at the front desk was very helpful and very professional! As was all the staff. We will be back!!

Sheraton Providence is great!

from MarthaL.
Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I read a few reviews that were not positive, but booked 2 rooms for my family using my Starwood Points. We were all very happy with the look and comfort of the rooms, which are on a par with the Westin and W rooms. Our young adult children loved the club room with the free breakfast and afternoon snacks. My husband and I went to Providence, which was exactly 10 minutes by car to see Waterfire and have a lovely dinner.
We will definatly stay here again. Warwick is not so exciting, but it is a good base for traveling around RI.

Very Run-Down Sheraton

from TravlerNotATourist
Very disappointed with this Sheraton - very run down and not up to the standards of newer Sheraton properties. Very surprised that Starwood would allow a hotel of this quality to call themselves a Sheraton. Hallways, lobby, rooms, carpeting, lighting, etc. was all very dingy and old.

OK for one night

from BernieG
Works well for one night if you have an early flight or are otherwise in need of a place to stay in the Warwick area.
Fairly clean and comfortable and I would have given a slightly higher rating were it not for the loud in room A/C unit.

Not worth the price

from A TripAdvisor Member
This was our first stay at a Sheraton, and it will be our last. Considering the price we paid, I expected a lot especially from a Sheraton. Our room had a strong musty odor. The fan in the bathroom did not work, and there was mildew in the shower. The carpet and wallpaper looked like it was in need of updating. Had we not been exhausted from traveling all day, we would have asked for another room. However, we did mention the strong smell at check-out and did not get much of a response except that they would look into it. Basically, the same response was given to me when I contacted Sheraton by e-mail about the problems. I am sure not all rooms or all Sheratons were like this one, at least I hope not. I have stayed in nicer places for about a third of the price. Spend your money somewhere else!
