The Behind the Scenes Tour at The Elms If you're interested in the effort that it took to make the Newport mansions operate, don't miss the Behind the Scenes tour at The Elms. For $15, this 1 hour tour takes you into the rooms usually only occupied by the staff - sub-basement generator room cold cellar, wine cellar, pastry kitchen, 3rd floor sleeping quarters (pretty nice, even by today's standards), and the roof (great view of water). We found this to be one of the best tours of our trip.
