Chaepest way to tour Newport mansions and avoid lines if you plan on touring all or most mansions, buy membership it's the cheapest overall, and you avoid the lines that can cost you two hours at the breakers., you can buy it at all mansions run by the newport masion preservation BTW it also covers the Animal Garden.

casino the casino is right across the road its ok for hour or so if your not a serious gambler the buffet was iffy, but the restaurant food was quite good. The next town Jamestown is worth a visit a nice harbour and some shops.

Newport suggestions Plan your activities and route beforehand. Parking in Newport is either an added expense ($15-$20 a day) or very inconvenient (short-term meters). We parked at the Newport Visitor Center for the day ($20) and did lots of walking-- LOTS OF WALKING!! Bus passes are available at the Visitor Center and we'll probably buy a few next time. Sailing or mansion tours are popular attractions, but they're not cheap-- $25-$30 per person. Loads of trendy boutique shopping and restaurants are available. We liked the "Cliff Walk". Its scenic view is wonderful-- and free! Jamestown was also a quaint place to visit. Newport is a great place for a couple's getaway or vacation. However, for the average family with children, I think Newport would be a little too costly and without enough variety.
