Good Hotel....But for a price

I have just returned from a 1 night stay at the Residence Inn Center City. This hotel is a great hotel with great service and helpful staff.
I stayed in a one bedroom suite, which had two queen size beds. The room was nice, I liked the fact that it had two TV's. The room was big enough for our needs (3 adults.) When we arrived the room was clean as a whistle. Hotel staff were helpful by giving good directions. We stayed on a weekend so I can't comment on the evening social. Breakfast was OK, but considering the price we paid for it (free), it was excellent. I paid $154 for the room (with a governement discount) and I paid $32 for one night of parking.
I thought this hotel was a pretty good value for the money, but parking was a bit pricey.
Will definitely stay there again.

We stayed here May 19-22, 2006. This hotel is located in a great location and is right next to the Courtyard Marriott and the Downtown Marriott. The rooms were nice and clean and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever stayed in. The breakfast buffet included was nice and had all you needed to eat. It was really nice that you could go down in your PJ's and bring the food back to the room if you needed to. The breakfast buffet saved at least $15.00 P/P per day. Another great service is their grocery store service. All you have to do is drop off a list of what you want at the front desk and they will do our shopping for you free of charge, no service charge that is, you still have to pay for the groceries.

The only downside to this hotel is the concierge, there is none. We asked employees several questions and they could not help. The valet guys tried to help but didn't seem to know the area either. We had to walk next door to the Downtown Marriott which was beautiful.

You are only about 8 blocks away from all the tourist stuff, Liberty Bell and Independance Hall. All are within walking distance. There are some great restaurants around the hotel and City Hall is beautiful at night.

The residence inn is very nice and would stay here again.

Spacious in prime location

This is the perfect place to stay if you're in Philly for more than a night and need some space to move. The room was fantastic (lounge, kitchen, dining table, separate bedroom). The kitchen was fitted with everything you would need. Breakfast was great (and included in the price of the room) and staff were courteous and helpful. Location was superb - 2 blocks from Reading Terminal Market and Conference Centre. Recommend The Astral Plane and Maggiannos as great places to eat.

This Hotel Has it All!!

We stayed at the Residence Inn from April 13-15th with a room rate of $139.00 per night. For two adults and two children (ages 9 & 12), this was a great choice for us! The room had two double beds, a pullout sofa, kitchen area with full size refridgerator, small dining area and desk with chair. The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I have every slept in! It is worth staying there just for the beds! Room was very clean when we arrived and engineering adjusted room temp. for us within 15 min. of calling them.

Breakfast which is included in the room rate, consisted of make your own belgum waffles, eggs, sausage, bisquits, real oatmeal, fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, cereal, etc. They change it slightly everyday. Monday thru Thursday they have some kind of snack in the early evening. Breakfast was a big plus for us because we didn't have to spend $20 and up on breakfast everyday.

The staff at the Residence in was very professional and pleasant. It is nice to speak to employees who actually like what they do.

The Philly Phlash (purple trolley) stops right in front of the hotel. It is a $1.00 per ride and it stops at all the local attractions or you can pay $3.00 and ride all day.

Two places I have to mention that we really enjoyed, El Vez (hip mexican) great drinks and food. Also The Fountain (real old fashion ice cream parlor), excellent ice cream!

Two nights was not enough time in Philly for us but we still had a great time and would stay again at the Residence Inn!

We stayed the weekend at the Residence Inn and found the accomodations and staff to be outstanding. #1 - Great location #2 - Excellent rooms: clean and the mattress was even better than at home #3 - The staff was so very polite, helpful, and seemed to really enjoy their work!!

Clean, Comfortable, and Staff Outstanding

I always do research before traveling and spend lots of time finding a clean and comfortable room. We were not disappointed in any way with this hotel. My husband and I took our first family trip with our two little ones. Both of our little ones are under 3 and the hotel was perfect. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and found it to be very clean, the beds were so comfortable, and having a separate living area from the bedroom came in very handy with our kids. The kitchen was stocked with every item. The staff was outstanding. Every request was met with quick and courteous service. The location is perfect and central to everything. We also had a lovely view of City Hall and LOVE park. We highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful room with an incredibly comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful, prompt staff. Surprisingly good free breakfast buffet. Excellent location. What more could you want? We would certainly stay here again.

Good value and location

We stayed at this hotel on a January Saturday evening before attending a sporting event at the Wachovia Center. A few room problems (room was given to us prior to being inspected; so bed was not made and side table lamp did not work).

However, the room was very clean and staff was very polite and helpful. We had a great view of City Hall (beautifully lit at night) and were happy to be in short walking distance to mass transit and nice restaurants.

The pool area is in the basement and is very small, so I would not recommend it as a feature for those with children who really want to swim. Valet parking (again, staff was very nice) was $32/night.

We received a AAA rate for a one bedroom with separate living room/kitchen. I would probably stay here again.

Some room problems but otherwise great

If not for the few problems encountered with the room I would give this hotel top honors. The one constant was the great service provided by the hotel staff. The Valet was prompt and courteous at all times. The front desk staff efficent, friendly and always available. The housekeeping staff ready to help and always acknowledge you when moving about the hotel. The staff at the breakfast buffet always said good morning even though they were there to merely replenish the food and had no direct guest contact. And wow, how about the breakfast buffet? That was a very pleasant surprise; everything was fresh and the presentation was outstanding. The only problems were in the room. They are starting to show a little wear and tear, on arrival the bathroom could have been cleaner, the door to the room was really hard to open and close, and the first day there was no heat in the room. Once I reported the heating problem it was immediately fixed (and I was subsequently asked twice if the heat was working by the front desk). When traveling one has to expect some small problems, but all of mine were easily overlooked because the service was outstanding and all issues immediately addressed. I would have no hesitation of staying here again.

Good Choice!

Went to Philly for business and stayed at the Residence for four nights. It is close to the Convention Center, across the street from City Hall, near Avenue of the Arts and a short subway ride to the historical section.
Check-in was a breeze, given a room on the street side. It was a bit noisy because of the traffic, but the air conditioing system was able to drown out most of the noise. The walls are a bit thin, so I got to hear my neighbor singing..not well I might add!
The room had a nice kitchen, living space, dining table, large bedroom. The place is large enough to entertain if needed. I felt very secure as you must use your room key to access the room floors.
Breakfast was pretty good. They have hot food such as eggs, pancakes, french toast, waffles, potatoes, sausage, oatmeal. They have several juices, milk, coffee, etc. The evening dinners, Monday thru Wednesday, consist of one entree, veggies, corn bread, beer, wine, and soft drinks. This was fair, but what do you expect for free.
The staff was very pleasant. The heater in my room did not work, but was fixed within a few hours of my request. They have just replaced all the mattresses with pillowtop units. The room was extremely clean and nicely appointed. Parking is a bit steep ($32!!), so be prepared.
I'd stay there again without hesitation.

where the great food is found Hail a cab and travel to the south end of town around the Italian market area for fantastic, reasonably priced, authentic Italian restaurants.

Don't stay in the residence inn Don't ever stay at the residence inn. It is WAY overpriced compared with all the other hotels in the area and the rooms are terrible. The rooms are old and smoky despite being a smoke-free hotel.

big bus or trolley I had no intention of taking the tour bus but since it came with the City Pass we gave it a try. We got off and on several times during the day and each tour guide was different in style but extremly informative. There is an undelievable amout of artwork around Philly and the tour guides told us more than we could have ever learned elsewhere about this great city. City Pass was a great value. I highly recommend it.
