We chose Loews Hotel because we wanted a little sophistication for our city visit and Loews delivered, our room was on the 22nd or 26th floor and afforded us spectacular views across the city.The quality of the furnishing,fitings, the bed and linens were excellent.
Our only issue is that the water in our shower only manage to get luke warm, however we would stay at Loews again. A very good hotel in an excellent location.

Great hotel for the money-some problems though

I recently stayed at the Loews for a conference. The hotel and the room itself were amazing. I was sharing with other people so I didn't get to fully enjoy it alone. The only complaints I had were that the housekeeping staff never changed our towels. The trash was never taken out for 3 days. We never got new toilet paper. And while 3 of us were preparing for bed, we got a call from the night manager saying that he heard that we were having a loud party and that if we didn't quiet down, he'd remove us....but didn't listen when I said that it was only 3 people that were halfway asleep. Other than that, i thought the service was pretty ok. We were able to call bell service and they replaced all the towels and toilet paper. I would stay at this hotel again because I got a far better price than I would have in the Marriott and the Loews is a much better hotel than the Marriott.

Stayed here on business and as a frequent traveler found this hotel to be overall better than average. Rooms are average size but very clean.
Staff was always willing and ready to assist with any questions and services. Good location to Center City and the hotel has a good resturant downstairs as well as others within walking distance. I recommend staying at a higher floor for a magnificent view of the city.

Long story short-Excellent stay-ask for a corner room-comfy bed-large bathroom-stylish and staff always greeted with a smile--what else do you need to know?

Stayed there and thought it was a nice hotel...But then the real story began....it is a long one and I can only say a rude one...you can shine it up but you can't shine the staff...very rude and could careless that our group was there....would not go back or recomend to our group again.

I stayed at the Loews Philadelphia on a business trip on 1/10/04 for 4 nights. The rest of my business associates stayed across the street at the Marriott for more money than I paid at the Loews, and after seeing the rooms at the Marriott, I was even more please with my choice.The Loews Philadelphia is a sleek hotel. The rooms are comfortable with clean lines. The bed was a pillow-top with crisp fresh linens. The towels in the bathroom were sublime - where do they get them from? The bathroom amenity products were generous and of high quality. As a Loews First Club member, access to the incredible health spa and pool are free. On the day of my departure when I asked for a 2 p.m. checkout, they went out of their way to arrange this and were extremely pleasant in doing so. Overall, every staff member with whom I had contact was courteous and professional. I travel frequently both for business and pleasure, and overall, if there is Loews hotel in the city in which I am staying, I will chose it over any other. So, far this has served me well. I highly recommend this hotel for both business and sophisticated leisure travelers.

How Loews MADE our New Year 2004!

We arrived at the Loew's Philadelphia Hotel at
3Pm on New Year's Eve. Things were very busy, but moving along
smoothly. Our room on the 7th floor was obviously on the pet-friendly
floor (our request, since we travel with our Lhasa Apso). The other
pooches were quiet, and well-behaved(which is more than we can say for
some of the people we have encountered in other hotels!)
We had a timely, delicious (try the macaroni &

cheese for a pleasant surprise), and reasonably-priced room service
dinner. Then, we watched the spectacular fireworks from the privacy of
our room.
The next day we attended the Mummer's Parade, which was truly amazing! The hotel is not located

along the parade route, so it is quiet. However, it is only a two block
walk to Broad Street, and the festivities. We spent some time in
Chinatown (try some bubble tea, and Joseph Poon's Pan-Asian fusion
restaurant for a change of pace), and on the the 33rd floor sipping
wine and taking in the view from the top of Loew's.
We have had many memorable New Year's celebrations (in New Orleans and New York), and

we have to say: "Thank you Loew's for a fun 2004".

Loathing the Loews

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Loews Philadelphia.
They pushed a double bed room on me although I had requested a queen, the sound barrier quality of the rooms was horrible. It literally felt like the adjoining rooms occupants were in my room - I could clearly hear their conversations and televisions. And upon checkout I was forced to walk down 29 floors since their elevator call buttons were not working although the front desk assured me everthing was fine with their system. I will never stay here again.

We had a good experience. Not the best place I've ever stayed (but not the most expensive either). A good deal for a city hotel. It was well located for walking around town. Room was a little plain but was a good size. Bathroom was very roomy. Staff was very nice and helpful. Only complaint was that there was hallway noise and door banging which filtered into the room.

Stayed four nights at this hotel and it was not impressive at all. Private party had entire restaurant and bar rented out on a Sat. night. Took 1 hour and half to get a salad through room service and alcohol not available, again, because of the party. That makes no sense. Why should ONE bartender be responsible for all alcohol in entire hotel, including room service??? Very cold night and heater wasn't working properly. They said it was "working fine". BS. Minibars in EVERY hotel room empty. This is a service they do not provide anymore, no reason why. Poor sound insulation from room to room. And absolutely no effort put into cleaning rooms each day, especially bathrooms with no new towels, toiletries, etc.This hotel SUCKS and I encourage anyone to stay ANYWHERE else in this town. Try the Marriott across the street.

Problems, problems, problems:Noise, smoke, apathy

Wasted potential is always disappointing. I had a concierge level hotel and was put in a nice room with fruit, bottled water, and nice robe. It was supposed to be non-smoking but had ash trays and smelled of smoke.
I foolishly ignored that and went to dinner. Getting back at 10pm the whole room was shaking from the band in a functin room directly above my room. I called the front desk and the first person told me there wasn't a party. Finally I insisted the manager come up who admitted there was a dance and offered to move my room. It was a nuisance to have to move at 10pm and the new room was smaller, didn't have the robe, fruit, nor water. She offered to take some money off my bill but when the bill was put under my door in the morning, it hadn't been corrected. I asked at the front desk and the clerk, obviously annoyed, said she would "try" to reach the manager. I won't go back and wouldn't recommend the hotel.

Top Local Tips for Philadelphia

Airport delay nightmares Allow plenty of time for connecting flights and any travel to/from PHL airport. The ground airplane traffic delays are among the worst in the country, the terminals (other than A) are ancient, dirty, and crowded, and the flights are almost always late. I have learned to relax and expect the delays, so I bring a good book. Also if you can afford it join an airport club; the US Airways club is not luxurious but it is what an airport terminal used to be: comfortable, spacious, and quiet.

April is a risky time to go Wait a little and visit in June when it warms up. The city is very interesting at street level, but that means walking around. Good weather just makes the whole experience better. Take the double decker bus and sit on the top when it's seventy degrees not fifty! People watch at the outdoor cafes. Check out Main Street in Manayunk when it's pretty and you can stroll, window shop, and be leisurely.
