The hotel is great if you are attending an event at the Tweeter center, aquarium, battleship or attending a minor league game at Campbell's. It is right on the river and has a ferry boat. I would stay again in a minute.

No complaints. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. Restaurant menu has a good selection of foods. Convenient to most centre city activities and events.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Hyatt Regency Penns Landing Hotel

Totally met expectations

This hotel was exactly as we had expected. Some earlier reviews indicate that the staff at this hotel are not accomodating, but we saw absolutely _no_ indication of it.

We stayed on a Priceline stay, and there was nothing to remind us of that when we checked in. Our requested room type was available and give to us. (They didn't put us in a bad room due to Priceline or anything).

The hotel easily meets its role as a 4 star city hotel, and provides all the expected services. The rooms are very stylish, and relatively large too with a good use of space. There was no closet at the entrance of the room as it was integrated into a TV/draw/closet console in the center of the room. This was a nice feature.

One small negative point is that the rooms were a little dusty and some things had not been cleaned properly.

Although this hotel has easy access from I-95, it makes walking into the city a little further than some of the other hotels. But any map would tell you that.

The pool is a little shallow for serious swimmers but perfect for little ones to let off some steam.

I recently attended the CWLA conference held here and I found the accomodations to be excellent. The beds were very comfortable and the staff were pleasant and helpful, particularly a young man named Lawrence who is the Bellman. He was friendly, respectful, and most accomodating.

Just Average

The location is great for the historical stuff and South Street, but a LONG way to the art museum, Reading Terminal Market and Rittenhouse Square. Customer service at checkin was not very welcoming. The lobby is small and cold. The rooms are ok, certainly not luxurious. The beds are HARD, the pillows are wimpy, and the sheets would come undone every night. If you sleep like a log, you might be ok; but if you toss and turn, you'll wake up in a tangle. We wanted a city view; however, a city view means you're right above I-95 and 6 lanes of freeway noise which, yes, travels up even to the 16th floor. It's actually not that bad if you like a little white noise in the background. One thing I find somewhat dangerous is that they do not have a sidewalk for guests to go down to the street, you must walk in the driveway, and there are frequently cars coming and going. The driveway also tends to bottleneck with cars coming and going. There are better choices.

Great stay at a great hotel

During this (pre-paid reservation) stay we experienced pleasant staff, a neat and tidy room with a CLEAN bathroom and gracious treatment.
We ate breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious and well worth the price of $14.00 -- nice selection and kept full and fresh by the staff.
All around a great stay. Would definitely stay here again.

We can't say enough about the Hyatt. We had a slight mix up with our room upon checkin and the manager went above the call of duty to make sure we were happy. The location was great (we walked to all the major sights), the rooms were beautiful with great views, the kids had a ball in the indoor pool, the concierge and bell staff were all so helpful and we even rented a car to head out to Hershey and we were able to do that in the lobby and pick up the car in the garage. Definately stay at the Hyatt when visiting downtown Philadelphia. P.S. You can catch a ferry right outside the hotel that goes across the Delaware River to New Jersey. Both the New Jersey Aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey were great.

Wonderful Stay

We just returned from our 2 night stay 9/1-9/3 and were very happy with everything. We were able to check in early and we were treated in a very professional manner by Whitney the front desk clerk. Our bellman, doorman, and housekeeper Sheky truly went out of their way to make a stay wonderful. We dined at the hotel's restaurant Keatings for a breakfast buffet that was good and affordable at 13.95. The pool area was great for the children. The location is fine right off the highway and easy to find. In back of the hotel is the ferry that goes straight to the New Jersey Aquarium. Walk for five minutes and you will be able to pick up the awesome phillyphlash bus that is a bargain at one dollar a ride or 4 dollars for the day. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were very satisfied with our stay and would visit this hotel again.

Loved the Convenience

from njbeachbum
My boyfriend and I were hoping to have a relaxing yet fun-filled weekend, and the Hyatt at Penn's Landing fit into our plans perfectly. We had tickets to see John Mayer at the Tweeter Center and after braving the awful traffic just two weeks before to go to the Dave Matthew's concert (and making ourselves miserable), we decided to look into staying at a hotel in the area. The convenient placement of the hotel could not have been any better - just off of 95 and right next to the Riverlink ferry. We decided to enjoy the weekend and drive down early, check in and enjoy the pool and take the ferry across the river to the Tweeter Center - it could not have been easier! From the minute we arrived, we were pleasantely greeted and check-in was prompt. I had requested a river view and didn't receive it, but we had a view of the city, bridge and river which was still very nice. The lobby, indoor pool and workout facility, and our room were all nice and clean. My only complaints were the on-site restaurant that wasn't worth the pricey bill and the corkage fees for bringing alcohol on site. Here's a tip - hide the booze in your suitcase and be sure to bring the empty bottles back with you. (I know it sounds trashy, but otherwise you will pay a bundle to buy drinks through the hotel). Otherwise, have a great time!!!

Met our Needs

We stayed for 2 nights at the Hyatt. We only live 40 minutes (driving) from the hotel, but we wanted to spend time in Philadelphia to enjoy some concerts and fine dining without driving back and forth, so we needed a convenient hotel. The Hyatt met all of our expectations. It is not worth the $189 per night they were asking, but we paid for one night and got the second for free, which included free parking, so this hotel was definetly worth the price we paid. Great location and views of the river from the room. Nice coffee shop and pool. Walk to Penn's Landing, historic district and great restaurants. Rooms were very neat and clean. Unless you are going to this hotel for business, I would only stay here if you get the 2 for 1 offer. This place is still cheaper than the over-priced Philadelphia Marriott. One tip: Try the new Bongos Cafe on the Moshulu at sunset for drinks and a great view of the Delaware River.

I Thought staying at the Hyatt would be so much fun, but it was terrible. When my husband and I got there we went up to our room and it was still dirty. So the front desk gave us a different room that was ready. This is supposed to be a high class hotel, but we had to use the same towels and wash cloths. I could go on and on about the Hyatt. The only good thing about the hotel was happy hour. After that faded away it was just a bad experience, so never again.

fourth of july only fair

from aidawedo
okay, so i took my kids there to stay overnight and to watch the fireworks. I resented the $15 parking for guests. The pool was crowded, both bathrooms were not working in the spa, but there were seats on the sun deck. The room was adequate for $200 a night, with a view. We had to wait a long time to check in because they were not done cleaning the room. There were empty glasses in the lobby, old room service trays in the hallways, they must have a problem with cleaning staff. There must be a better place to stay for this price.

Top Local Tips for Philadelphia

South Street is poppin' Make sure you check out the action on South Street - there is something for everyone entertainment-wise there. I went to a concert at the Theatre for the Living Arts/The Fillmore - great location for a concert and has a great staff.

Cabs Don't plan on an over abundance of cabs like most big cities, if not driving, keep the cab number with you!

moving the car costs less than taking taxis. the person at the front desk advised us to take a taxi into town and back. he was wrong. self-parking at the hotel was $19 per day no matter how many times you take the car in and out. the taxi with tip cost about $14 each way into town. It would have been cheaper to drive into town and park at one of the lots that is $12 max till closing
