Very pleasant Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Crowne Plaza. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. When we discovered that two lamps in our room would not come on (because the bulbs were blown) it was corrected within 15 minutes. The only reason I would not rate them as excellent is because this was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I had read that on a previous post but was still somewhat taken aback.

Great hotel!

This hotel was terrific - my wife and I stayed here in November 2003. We were given a free upgrade upon checkin. The room was fantastic and the staff was very helpful, I would definitely stay here again.

enjoyed the Crowne Plaza

stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Harrisburg 11/24 - 11/28/04. Room was nice and clean, bed comfortable, and swimming pool a plus. Only a short trip to Hershey. Would stay again. Saw a notice in the hotel that they are going to have internet access in every room in January 2005.

Enjoyed my stay

Recently stayed at this downtown hotel and enjoyed my stay very much. Nice rooms (really enjoyed the bed...somethig called The Sleep Advantage),good food in the restaurant and friendly staff. Downtown location is ideal as it is nearby everything and very close to Hershey. Good value for the money. Would reccommend this hotel and certainly stay there again in the future.

horrible service, and matra dees were very rude and spoke vey little english

Stayed here for a wedding, waited downstairs for 15 minutes while 2 old couples behind me got service. Was hanging in the lobby after the wedding reception with the bride and groom and got kicked out, thats right the bride and groom got kicked out of the lobby cause we were being to loud and had outside food brought in,
very ignorant staff... Non english speaking doorman( had to buy a new dress shirt none of the staff knew where to go, i felt like i stayed in a 19.99. night room.....

i will never go back again!!!!!

Not a Clean Feeling

from A TripAdvisor Member
Within 5 minutes of entering room, i found the room to be dirty, i.e. drapes, liners, carpeting. there were torn blankets, a dirty towel left on floor from previous nights guest and only 2 bath towels. there were no wash cloths or hand towels. i called front desk and was told guest services would bring towels. they never arrived. i also received no coupon for continental breakfast. also, the elevator did not align with the floor properly. its was off at least 3-4 inches and i tripped and hurt my foot & ankle. i reported all of this to the front desk. i received a coupon for bed/breakfast buffet and just a "sorry" for my foot injury. Also, the cleaning personnel did not arrive to my room until 4:30 pm and then asked if i wanted my room cleaned. Upon returning after it was cleaned, i found the previous nights dirty pillowcases laying on top of the comforter. i will never stay here again. i will go to the hilton or to another hotel outside of town. i have previously stayed at other crowne plaza hotels that were 4 star and excellent. this problem has to be just with the harrisburg crowne plaza.

Awful service!!!!!!!

I was traveling with my 2 sisters and my daughter, on our way back from visiting family in New York. My youngest sister had had her tonsils taken out about a week prior to the vacation and on the way back we had to stop for her to get emergency surgery. We were at the hospital for about 8 hours and we decided not to drive the rest of the way to pittsburgh. We called the crown plaza to see how we would be able to use a credit card from another family member. We were told to talk to Byron the Supervisor on duty. That was fine we got everything taken care of but when we asked for a smoking suite we were told in a VERY VERY patronizing tone that they weren't avaialbe and that under no circumstances can we smoke in that rm. It took about 20 mintues to get checked in and up to our room. That is were the real problems began. First I had to go retrieve something from my car(which was valet parked) and the assigned parking space tag on my keys was not the same space my car was parked in. Then I get back to the room and notice these flies in the room. I really didn't think anything of it. I then went into the bathroom and the fan didn't worked. I called down and they sent a maintance man up about 30 minutes after the call. Then we turned doqwn the beds and there was hair all over the pillow and sheets and a WHOLE lot more flies. I called down to the desk and insisted on moving to another room. they said that they would have to see what they could do and call me back. after about 45 minutes I went down and demanded to be moved. I would never recommend this place for anyone and had we known there was a hilton next door we would have left with out looking back...GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE TO STAY THERE!!

Poor condition for Crowne Plaza more like basic Holiday Inn

from GoHerd
For a Crowne Plaza this hotel is in pretty poor condition. I am a platinum PC member and stayed on the concierge floor which is real run down. Rental car was scratched by the parking attendent. Very outdated for a Crowne Plaza. Needs some serious renovations.

Too Many Issues

from Travelmuch2
I stayed one weeknight in mid-July. Waited 20 minutes at the front desk while all four guests in front of me had compliants about reservation problems and room issues. No apology was offered for the delay when I finally got to the desk. The bellman who had my luggage disappeared (sans cart) and I carried it up myself. The first very small room I was assigned had an inoperable air conditioner. Engineering arrived to declare they didn't have a part to fix it so I was moved to a larger, nicer room. 90 minutes wasted. Most staff acted like my being there was an imposition. An email from Crowne Plaza asked for input on the stay. I thought I would get a response, but didn't. This could/should be a premier hotel. It isn't now. I have faith though and plan one more stay with my fingers crossed.

Pleasant and Will return if given the chance

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed there recently, and it was just great. the staff was really nice to us, but then again I only stayed there one night. Everything met to my expectations. Quick service for things that weren't there already. My only quip was the parking garage, the spaces were too small, and there were poles EVERYWHERE to add further obstacles to ur parking, and I left for like 10 minutes to drop off something and I came back and the lot was full, but was provided with parking across the street at another lot that the hotel paid for. All in all it was a pleasant stay. And worth the price, I got it for $100 on hotwire under the 3.5 star.

Top Local Tips for Harrisburg

Not far from Hershey If you want to save money just go to Priceline and get a Harrisburg hotel and drive 15-20 minutes to Hershey. Very easy to get there and there are plenty of signs helping you get there easily. Harrisburg is nice and the buildings downtown are magnificent!!!!! The river is gorgeous and the bridges are spectacular. Lots of walkways, sidewalks and bridges to run, walk and bike on. Great place!!! If you are a AAA member and want cheaper Hershey Park tickets then drive to Hershey Park Drive and get on Mae St. and we turned right and went right into the strip mall (very cute strip mall) and got tickets for $34 instead of $45.95 each!!! I definitely recommend that! I also recommend taking the trolley ride you can get on from Chocolate World which is next to Hershey Park. To park on the Hershey property there it is $8 every day and that will allow you access to Hershey owned buildings and the Giant Center. There are things to do in Chocolate World that is free also. Not everything costs.

Hershey Park Arrive at Hershey Park 3 hours before closing and buy a ticket. You will be able to go again, next day or later using that ticket. Your first visit is treated as a FREE preview. It is a good way to check out the park because it is quite large.

Hershey World Stay in Harrisburg - Its only a very short drive to Hershey.
