Great staff!!! Very tolerant!
from anatresia
A group from Doxie Lovers decided to meet in Akron for the Northeast Ohio Dachshund Picnic. We came from around the country with dachshunds in tow. The hotel staff was courteous with our wiener dogs and even better in the restaurant. We booked a table for 20 at the last minute. The staff politely waited with us for all of our guests to arrive. As we drank cocktails on empty stomachs, the conversation grew louder and more lively. I'm sure the staff was annoyed, but they never showed it. The food was tasty and presented nicely and the drinks were delicious and a bit strong.
The rooms were clean and large. I thought they were a bit overpriced for a couple, but if you had a family, they would be great because they're quite large, and the bedroom can be separated from the living room space, where there is a sofa bed.
We would stay here again, I think- maybe next year for the wiener dog picnic!

Ditch dirty downtown Akron and stay at the sparkling sheraton cuyahoga falls

I spent seven nights at this hotel on a business trip. Having stayed in downtown Akron on previous trips (don't - there isn't a decent hotel to be found) I thought I'd try the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls. I'm glad I made the choice.
My room was overlooking the river and the view was awesome. Yes, you can hear the water but to me this was relaxing after a hard day's work - in much the same way as it is relaxing listening to ocean waves. I did hear a freight train go through on the first night but didn't hear anything on the following six nights - I'm guessing that my brain attuned to the sound and the noise was brief in any case.
The suite was excellent and in thoroughly good order. Clean and spacious. The bed was king size and wonderfully comfortable. Room service was good and the selection was good (important when you're checked in for a week); reception will also provide menus of local eateries that offer delivery should you desire a change or something less fancy.
The food in the restaurant was excellent - I never booked for breakfast or dinner during my say but ate restaurant breakfasts on five days and dined in the restaurant for dinner on two evenings. The restaurant staff were pleasant and welcoming to me as a lone diner (not all restauarant staff manage this and in other places I have been parked in a dark corner or plonked conspicuously at a table in the middle of the restaurant!). For those not wanting the restaurant meals, there is also a bar area that serves good sandwiches.
Finally, I would recommend that any guest to this hotel checks out the pool and fitness suite. Very relaxing and not used by many guests so nice and quiet. There are nature walks close by which were relaxing though the weather was a bit chilly in January to spend too much time outdoors! Guests at this hotel also get a free pass to the Natatorium, a complex about 10 minutes walk away that has several pools and a huge fitness facility as well as yoga, tai chi classes etc.
I travel a lot on business (two weeks out of every four) and have stayed in good hotels and poor hotels. This one is definitely a find and I will happily check-in next time I am to visit Akron.

Water view is not a plus!

Recently spent one night at the Sheraton Cuyahoga Falls. The room was on the third floor and overlooked the falls. This was not a repeat choice! The noise from the racing water, trains and traffic made sleeping almost impossible. Windows offered no sound protection. Nice location and clean facility. Just select a room on the opposite side of the hotel.
Terrible service!
from Partygrlll6
My husband and I had a pretty bad experience with this property. At nearly $300 per night, I was disappointed with the peeling wallpaper in our suite, yet the service (or lack of) was even worse. Although there were several small, annoying inconveniences, the issues that made our stay unpleasant were:
We specifically inquired as to whether or not we needed reservations for breakfast, and were told we did not. However, when we showed up for breakfast the following morning we were told that we needed a reservation. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet they seated us at what could arguably be the worst table in the restaurant, the only table without a view of the river. After making it known that this was unacceptable, they moved us to a slightly better table, but instead of saying, we apologize that you were given misinformation, the hostess said, "This is all we can do," and stomped away. The restaurant remained fairly empty throughout our breakfast, which we ate quickly amidst glares from the hostess station.
The hotel had made a mistake when we checked in, and though the hotel had been paid for in advance, they used the credit card provided for incidentals to bill us again. When it was time to check out, the female employee said there was nothing she could do to fix the problem. I noticed her name tag indicated that she was "in training" so I asked to speak with someone else. She snottily informed me that though she was new to The Sheraton she had worked at other properties, including The Westin. I again asked her to speak to someone else, so she huffed off to get someone. The woman who came out to help me was able to figure out and take care of the problem within two minutes. The whole time the "former Westin employee" stood there glaring, and didn't even apologize. No wonder she is no longer employed at The Westin.
I called te Sheraton 800-number to complain, and they were very nice. We were even awarded Starpoints for the poor experience, but it still bothers me that the real issue of poor service was most likely not addressed. More than Starpoints, I would have been satisfied knowing that additional training was being provided, so the situation does not occur again.
Other Sheratons in the area probably provide better service (how could they not). However, if you are interested in better service, I would suggest the Radisson or Crowne Plaza in downtown Akron, The Hilton in Montrose/Fairlawn, or the Canton Marriott.

It was wonderful!

Stayed at the Sheraton the day after Thanksgiving. Had a river view king suite. The view was great. Arrived pretty late for just an overnight stay before catching the plane the next morning. We were starving when we got there at about 11 pm! Thinking we would have to head to McDonalds we called down to the desk who offered us menus from area restaurants who delivered until 2am!! Needless to say we stuffed ourselves, watched some tube. Made ourselves some drinks. I like the little minifridge. The bed was heavenly as expected. So many pillows! The suite was clean and well maintained. Went to breakfast/brunch on Sunday morning. I opted for the buffet which I loved!! Made to order french toast n eggs was just perfect for me. My boyfriend opted to order breakfast and kept asking me to bring him things from the buffet lol. I would return in a heartbeat.Actually going to be staying there in a few weeks again. Going to get there earlier to enjoy a little more time at the Sheraton Cuyahoga Falls
s eve package just ok
from happytails
Stayed 1 night for the new years eve package. $400 for the Least expensive package in their cheapest smoking king suite, facing the parking lot on the second floor. Included hors d'oeurves, dinner, swing band, dj, desserts, Open Bar, brunch- basically the standard nye deal. 500-600 people total, 1/2 of which were over age 50.
Room was a true suite, in good shape, but dated. Clean marble bath, two large tv's w/ hbo, sheraton sleeper bed was heavenly as always. Pool, hot tub, and sauna whileimpressive, are showing signs of age and not nearly as clean as the rest of the property.
The riverfront restraunt was wonderful all around. A glass room hanging over the creek and falls, excellent service and food.
The package started with dinner stations offering a wide variety of delectable choices, but the lines were so long that by the time you got the food and found a place to sit, your food was cold. we never even made it to the carving stations as we didn't feel like waiting in the long line. and while the pasta station chef said he had just made it, the pasta i chose was cold as if everything had been pre-cooked and kept in the fridge and then not cooked long enough to reheat it. the bread was stale. shrimp cocktail was good with elaborate ice sculpture. hors d'oeuvres were pretty tasty. we did find a relaxing table in the library near the fireplace which was nice. We wanted our after-dinner chocolate fix but they had all the desserts under cloths in the hallway.
Be prepared - on nye this place pours a stiff drink. Delicious martinis. Once we asked for a non-alcoholic beverage, they made sure every bar throughout the place had O'doull's to accomodate those that do not drink.
This was a non-smoking party and they allowed smoking in one room only - they had plush chairs and big tables to accomodate everyone.
The band played typical swing 40s-50s stuff for the older folks to enjoy near the lobby and the Dj played some good stuff and some very bad stuff - overall pretty good. they might have wanted to have a few more smaller tables in the ballroom as we had to scam in on some couple's table - it was a little wierd to try to make small talk in a 'club' with some dentist and his teacher wife.
Here's where i start to not remember much- They had big screens hung the lobby with the band broadcasting the time square ball drop so it seemed to be a good countdown. Balloon drop was nice. The lines for the food and desserts were so long that we never got any.
I made it down to brunch which was pretty good - that is, me making it down to brunch. I had my fill from their many stations: pasta, roast, salads, waffles, made to order omelets, meat, breads, cereals, fruit, juice coffee, very good. long lines again, but we got a great table overlooking the river.
Overall an older but still classy and romantic hotel right off the highway near akron, 35 minutes from cleveland. I would stay again. Especially if they scrubbed the hottub.

The Sunday Bruch is fabulous
from LondonLady
Just finished having a wonderful Sunday brunch at this hotel. Everything you could ask for was on the brunch menu, including any type of eggs cooked to order, pancakes and french toast made fresh to order, fruit bar, cereal, even oatmeal. Then, on the lunch side, prime rib, several entries including a flank steak stuffed with mushrooms, chicken dishes, salmon, caviar, and a pasta bar making all kinds of fresh pasta dishes. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious.
The waitress was attentive and fast removing dishes and bringing drinks and coffee.
We had a beautiful view of the falls from the table. Desserts were plentiful and varied: carrot cake, banana cake, cheesecakes, even chocolate chip bread pudding served warm. Excellent choice for brunch! Don't miss it - well worth the drive

While traveling alone to Canada, I stopped one night in Cuyahoga Falls. It was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Upon entering the room, I immediately felt secure and at ease. The furnishings were plush and the linens were luxurious. As a female alone in a strange city and checking in after dark, I decided not to venture out of the room for dinner. I called for room service. It was timely, and the food was very good. One small complaint - housekeeping did not check the mini-fridge before I checked in, and someone else's leftovers were in it and the mini-bar seal was broken. I reported it to the front desk staff but was still charged for the mini-bar! I disputed that portion of the charge with my credit card company, and the matter was resolved.
Definitely Would Stay Again
from Pattenato
My wife and I recently stayed at the Sheraton Suites on Friday night of Valentines Day weekend 2005 to combine a short getaway with a visit to our son at Kent State. The public facilities such as indoor pool, sauna and exercise room were clean and well maintained. We stayed in a riverview suite which indeed has a view of the river below as it cascades thru the gorge. (The background roar is subdued by the room's insulation and sounds like background fan noise) The room comes well equipped with a small refrigerator and well stocked mini-bar (for fee) as well as microwave and coffee maker. Only 2 minor gripes - the heating controls are difficult to set in a comfortable range especially for sleeping (too warm and dry) and the room in which we stayed had a shower head with a water adjustment knob that was either broken or set in a fixed position as the shower stream would only work on a hard stream setting. As it was rather cold and snowy on the night of our stay, we chose to eat our dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The hotel restaurant has better food quality than the average large chain hotel restaurant and pricing was moderate with dinner for 2 staying under $60 with tip without drinks. A well stocked breakfast buffet was available in the AM on this Saturday with a choice of continental style or full buffet.
I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if working or visiting in the area.

Spent an overnight at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls, OH in January 2005....in the area for a wedding (also held at the Sheraton). Stayed in a King suite (all the rooms in the hotel consist of 2 rooms) lots of fluffy pillows and a down comforter on the bed...2 TVs..great breakfast buffet/brunch on Sundays which included friendly and efficient waitstaff. All around excellent experience. Try to book a room with a view of the falls...awesome!
Top Local Tips for Cuyahoga Falls
Getting there This wasn't the easiest place to find because of the one way streets but once I could finally see it from side street I made it. I think they do need better signage for locating the property.
Piatto The restaurant has a great breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelets and french toast for only $11.95, including a beverage. It's a steal considering all the food and the great view.
Nearby Retail Shops One highway exit south from the Sheraton, you can find a brand new Target, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and a bunch of restaurant/fast food.
