I checked in the Westin Cincinnati hotel on 1\21\2004 at about 8:30pm. I was extremely disappointed in the service and quality!. I checked in room 907 after a long day of traveling and working. the room I checked into was unmade, the bed was dirty and there was garbage in the room. I called and waited over an hour for room service to come up to room. the made the bed and did not garbage. I ordered room service and they offered to pay for an $8 ceaser salad. the salad did not come until 10:30pm. it took close to hour even to get that to me. I got up in the morning and there was no soap or shampoo in the room. I have been a business traveler for 30 yrs and this was the worst service and quality I have ever seen and employees lack of interest to fix a problem. I just paid the bill and left and would not recommend the hotel to anyone. in fact I will recommend it as a place not to go.

Fell in Love

from A TripAdvisor Member
My Fiance' and I stayed there. The staff was great and the service and placement was even better. Couldn't ask for more!

t pay too much

from thegov
This is a good hotel, but make sure to not pay any more than about $100 - $120 per night for it. I needed to stay there on a Tuesday night and found prices ranging $189 - $299 on ----, which is WAY high for a hotel of this caliber. When all is said and done, on my next trip to Cincinnati, I will stay here again.

Good Points:
- Service was prompt, friendly, and flawless. Larry at the check in desk was one of the best I have ever encountered.
- Heavenly bed is wonderful.
- The top floor gym and pool is modern, clean, and well equipped.
- The hotel is overall clean and well maintained.

Bad points:
- Lobby looks like a mall from 1983 that hasn't been touched since then.
- Parking is $24
- The hotel's decor is a bit dated. This is an 80's hotel, with heavenly beds, baths, and some new lamps and desks added to it.
- Television was a bit small with only about 20 channels.
- Needed more power outlets on the desk. (there was only 1)
- Bathroom could be bigger.

For hotels in Cincinnati, this is a good way to go. Most of the hotels downtown are in need of a major update, but the Westin copes with this need the best.

Thumbs Up

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights last weekend. I appreciated on reviewer on trip advisor recommending that we book this hotel through priceline. The lowest internet rate for this hotel was $119. We got it for $70 on priceline. If I would have paid the regular price, I would have been dissapointed. Here are the positives and negatives on this hotel:

The heavenly bed was absolutely wonderful.
The location is great. (if you want to be downtown -- Not so good if you are going to King's Island)
The in-room movie selection is great (but $12.99 a pop).
Connected to nice mall.
Starbucks coffee in room.
Large room-service menu. (very prompt room service)
Great bath products (shampoo, lotion, etc.)
Bath robes provided.
Great fitness facility with plasma tv's on all cardio equipment.
Minibar in room.
2 good restaraunts (Albee which is formal and very expensive (we spent $125 for two people at dinner) and Fifth & Vine which is a bar that serves pub food).
Friendly staff and prompt "service express" to cater to any need.

Bathroom has paint chipping, mold, and bathtub needs to be updated.
Carpets in hallways need to be cleaned.
Vallet service for parking is steep at $24 a day (self-park is $17 a day).
Room service is very pricy.
Lobby isn't so great (cheesy retail shops at street level).
Downtown Cincinatti is not very family friendly (a lot of questionable people out late).
Bottled water in room is not free (it should be).

Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives and I would recommend this hotel to a couple or adult group looking to stay downtown. If you are a family going to Kings Island, stay at a hotel close to the park.

Definately use priceline. State that you want a downtown four star hotel. We paide $70 on a Friday and Saturday night in Feb. of 2005.

Woe to a Stay at the Westin

from PeachTraveler
I visited the Westin on business and was very disappointed. There was a fairly large group of us staying for a two-week assignment and we opted for the Crown Plaza after a week of mediocre service at a ridiculous price. The carpets in the hallways were dirty. For the exhorbitent price you pay, they only give you one day's worth of coffee and you pay for subsequent packets. No one really made us feel welcome. Overall, they charge an arm and a leg to begin with and if you want anything more you might as well start cutting off your fingers! Overpriced and lacking in value to be sure!

Great Place to stay for a Bengals Game

from slags68
What a great place to stay! My boyfriend and I made the trip down to Cincinnati to watch the Bengals play the Cowboys. We are big Cowboys fans and couldn't pass up the chance to see them close to home. This hotel was great from the moment we pulled up. The valet parking attendent was very helpful. Telling us it would be cheaper to park in the city garage next door if we wanted to just walk a short distance. We parked there and only paid $1 to park for our Saturday to Sunday stay!!! There was a slight line at check-in. It went smoothly and they gave us a free upgrade to a nicer room facing the square. The bed was awesome (I have never seen so many pillows, we loved that), the bath was awesome (I loved the dual shower head and large size tub), and the room was clean. We ate across the street at the Rockbottom brewery and loved it! Great Food! And great people watching before a big game, several Cowboys players were there eating dinner! Enjoy the Westin, they treat you right!

Great Location, Great Service, Great hotel

from KellyinKentucky
The Westin is in a great location in downtown Cincinnati ..... it is connected to the mall across the street which is great ....we always book our room through priceline and choose the highest level of starts for about $55 per night.....we have booked 6-7 times and have always gotten for no more than $60.....would highly recommend using priceline to save money......park the car yourself and save $$$.....parking service is $22 per day and often SLOW.......great hotel, great location!

simply amazed

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was amazed with the lobby first. Then, check-in was very smooth. The room I got was well-appointed, clean and spacious. You have to try their heavenly bed. I felt like i was sleeping on clowd. I couldn't ask more. simply impressive.

Friday the 13th......;)

from YzGi
This was just a parents night away and it was within an hour from our home so we chose the Westin in Cincy. I have quite a few Starwood points so this was a great time to use some. I will admit I am very hardcore regarding first impressions. When we arrived at the check-in, there were approx 4 other guests. We stepped into the SPG line (since I have earned that privilege quite well) and waited a good 10+ minutes. The other folks in the regular line were being waited on while I was ignored? If you are going to have this special line for frequent guests than you should utilize it. Needless to say, we got back into the regular line and waited behind the other guests to get checked in. (NOT a very good 1st impression at all) The girl at the desk wasn't overly friendly but she served her purpose and we were off to our room. We had an 11th floor room which was great/clean. The upside, the heavenly bed was just that "heavenly"! The downside..we had no tissues nor shampoo in the room (I have horrible allergies and sneeze alot)? The location downtown was convenient also. We walked to have dinner at a nice place. Would I rate this a 4 star?....probably more a 3 star. Would I have been happy had I paid $140 a night as advertised online...probably not. Overall, its a nice hotel, but just not what I expected for the Westin standards. Next time, we are planning the Westin in Columbus. :)

This is a great hotel, likely the very best in Cincinnati. Very quiet rooms, clean, with all needed amenities. And the beds are to die for! These are really some of he best beds at any top end hotel... there is a reason they brag about them so much. They are truly exceptional.

The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. Considering you can get this hotel for $50 through priceline, its a fantastic deal.

Flawless Performance by Westin

from A TripAdvisor Member
I am a travel agant and am always looking for stand-out properties to recommend to my clients.
I stayed at the Westin the weekend of June 4-6 and it was an exceptionally nice experience. Upon check-in we were immediately upgraded to a Starwood Preferred floor. The Service Express is a blessing, and particularly Sam went out of his way to satisfy our every request. Although the hotel was busy, we never waited more than a few moments for anything to arrive.

All the details of the room and public areas are decidedly upscale, but comfortable. There really isn't enought to be said about the bedding, it simply must be experienced to be believed. The fitness center designed by Reebok is far superior to most other hotel gyms. The tredmills and spinners all have personal plasma TV's.

There were high quality robes in the bathrooms, as well as Molton Brown London toiletries. Finally, perhaps the most welcome amenity was Italian bottled water in the room for FREE! Omni hotels should take note...customers are not turned on by a $5 price tag on a bottle of water.

Thank you to the Westin hotel and staff for a flawless stay!

Top Local Tips for Cincinnati

Restaurant The Scottish restaurant, Nicholson's, is excellent and is located in the downtown area.

McCormick & Schmicks Make sure you make a reservation. This seems to be the busiest restaurnant in town.

The Newport Levee Cheesey place with high parking. Hardly any stores for shopping and they are aloud to smoke while walking throught the mall? Stay in Ohio the air is cleaner.
