Average Stay

from MickeyD777
Stayed at this hotel during a visit to Cincinnati for a convention. Lobby was bright and cheerful. Check-in was smooth. Valet parking was expensive ($20/night). Requested non-smoking room but none available so they put me in a room that reeked of smoke. Room had no view as hotel is a funny shape and many rooms lack a view.

Room was decent size and pleasant (except for smoke smell). Bed was very comfortable. Shower was average, at best.

Hotel has sports bar off lobby area. Smoky but convenient. Hotel location is near most of downtown so it is reasonably convenient. Lots of street people as you exit hotel so be careful. Cincinnati seems to have a real problem with this and they are somewhat aggressive.

In all, average hotel, convenient. Nothing to brag about.

Not what I would expect from a Hyatt

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was on a business trip in Cincinnati and expected a lot from a classy hotel chain such as the Hyatt. I was very disappointed. It was old, dark, and didn't have any warmness about it. The corridors were dark as well. They originally put me in a room at the corner of the building with a strange configuration such that half of the bed was facing the window. It was difficult to sleep at night, but they did end up switching the room for me after speaking with their manager.

Decent place to stay

from slags68
We stayed here on a Saturday night as we were in town for a Reds game. We booked the Romance package for $150. The package included romance room, champagne, chocolates, breakfast delivered to your room, valet parking and late 2pm checkout.

The room was really nice. Spacious and clean. Showerheads need replaced. They really don't work well.

Hotel was within a reasonable walk to Great American Ballpark.

Our main problem was with the Romance package. When we checked in they seemed very confused about what to give us. They ended up telling us that we would receive coupons in our room. Before we left for the game they told us that the coupons would be delivered under our door while we were gone. When we returned we had nothing. (Our friends that had booked the same package had no coupons in their room but had their chocolates and champagne delivered and waiting for them.) I went down to the front desk, they took care of the champagne and chocolates and had them delivered promptly. Then the next morning when we ordered our breakfast delivered to our room, I told the person delivering it that it was included in our package. She asked where my coupon was. I explained to her about the confusion over the coupons and she really didn't know what to say. I went ahead and signed for the tray and called the front desk manager and she said she would take care of it.

I think while this package was really nice, I don't think I would book it again. There was just too much confusion around it.

Fantastic Hotel!!

This was one of the best we have stayed in!
Clean, very friendly staff at the front desk, the gift shop employees and the restaurant personnel were all great!!
Great sports bar and right in the middle of everything!!
Easy in and out. Couldn't ask for more!!

Extremely clean and friendly

Hotel staff is very friendly and polite. My wife and I stayed there for a weekend getaway. Wife loved bellman and valet service. They suggested excellent restaurant nearby. I loved the Sports Bar - good snacks and great bartender!

Expected More From a Hyatt

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I were there the same weekend as the last reviewer, and we agree with every word of their review.

We also booked thru Hotwire, and were very excited when when we saw we'd be staying at a Hyatt. The disappointment started immediately - parking was $15-20 per night and not included, which added significantly to what we'd budget for our weekend trip.

ROOMS: The rooms we saw, including ours, have no view of the city. We had a view of the next buiding's air conditioner. The rooms were nice sized though, clean, and the beds comfortable. The TV had quite a few cable channels, and was 25" in size - also nice. Only 2 towells and 2 wash rags per room though - rather skimpy. And no fridge in the rooms.

LOCATION: The location was terrific, within walking distance to the riverfront and most downtown activities. As others have said, many dining options were nearby. A+ in this area (thought you do pay for it with parking fees).

SERVICE: We used the hotel for info on the fireworks and dining options. Frankly, we'd rate this pretty average - the staff wasn't overly friendly, nor were they rude. Our room was late in the day getting cleaned, despite calls from us. When they did arrive, we asked for fresh sheets, but the maid could not speak English and would not give us new sheets.

OTHER TIDBITS: We also visited the (indoor) pool, and found the water to be unbearably cold. The outside sun bathing deck was small, but nice. And, the elevators were got stuck several times while we were there - with people on them. We were nervous everytime we rode them.

So, in summary, it was an average hotel - and pretty disappointing for a Hyatt.

Our Stay at the Hyatt Cincinnati Downtown

from A TripAdvisor Member
We booked the Hyatt through Hotwire and the way hotwire works is it does not give the hotel name till the end of the process because of the pricing structure it offers. We got a good deal by going through them.
We landed there on a Friday just before the labor day weekend did the valet for the car and had no problems checking in. Went to our rooms and found them to be clean. Next day morning we got up and checked out the pool and the gym facilities. The pool was supposed to be an indoor heated pool. The water was cold and the towels were missing. Same thing happened the next day also. The gym facilities were great and the equipment was fairy new and in good condition.
Next we went to the breakfast joint in the hotel. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I would consider it to be one of the best places we ever had breakfast. Me and my family liked it very much. We had breakfast there for two mornings during our stay there.
On the second day when we came back from our visits to the local museums we found our rooms were not cleaned by around 5:00 pm but in about half an hour housekeeping came and cleaned our rooms without much hassle.
Eating lunch and dinner at nearby restaurants was a good experience also because of the wide variety of restaurents available in downtown Cinci. There is also a food court at Tower place which is right next to the Hyatt within walking distance.
On Sunday evening we decided to check out the annual firworks on the river and we went to the Bell Captain / Conciere for advice. He gave us a copy of a newpaper clipping and was a bit rude when we asked him a few questions. We thought it was best to read the paper clipping and get the rest of details instead of carrying the conversation any further with this guy. The firworks were great and we really enjoyed the experience.
We did have some wait at the elevators on the fireworks night because pretty much the whole hotel had gone to see the same thing and everybody came back at the same time.
All in all I would say that our stay at the Hyatt was good. For the price we got on hotwire we considered it a good deal except for the $20 / night valet parking.

Quite pleased

I'm a picky traveller, but about Hyatt Regency in Cincinnati I have not a single complaint!

Although the room was not gorgeous (sort of businessman blacks & grays) it was pleasant and totally comfortable and actually had some very pretty artwork on the walls.

The lobby was elegant and gracious. And the staff were all friendly and polite.

I enjoyed this hotel and would gladly stay there again.

Not worth the price...

We stayed at this hotel the weekend of Aug 13, 2004. Arriving late, and with a 2 1/2 year old child in tow, we decided to do valet parking - this was a nice feature, although 20 dollars seems a bit steep. Checking in was no problem. The room was cozy, but the view was of a parking garage, which was disappointing. From the website, it implies that the rooms have a view of the river. We ordered room service, and the food was prompty delivered when promised. Prices weren't bad, but the food wasn't that great, it was so so. The chocolate torte tasted like cardboard with a little bit of whipped cream and a little chocolate drizzle - the ice cream was good, but that's kind of hard to mess up :) We also had two breakfast room services. Again, about average. As far as the room goes, the bed was really nice and comfortable. The sink and the shower collected water. The shower did have incredible water pressure though. When we went to check out, we discovered on our bill that we had been charged for a room service we did not get, and also double charged for one of our breakfasts. They removed the charges, however we had to wait for 30 minutes while they did this (verifying the charges, I guess). All in all, it was okay, but I would rather stay somewhere else next time if I'm going to pay that much money. At least at other hotels, you can get a free complimentary continental breakfast included.

Honeymoon nightmare!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Dirty, wet towels in the first room...wet BED in the second. (You can imagine how we discovered that one) *gag* I am not evern kidding. And the staff had attitude when we ...duh...complained. We came here on our honeymoon and were shuffled around to 3 different rooms because of all this nastiness and then...we were NEVER offered and upgrade, apology, NOTHING. Needless to say, we won't be back. (ps-despite the honeymoon, the marriage is going great!)

Top Local Tips for Cincinnati

Zoo Beautiful zoo in Cincinnati. It was crowded on Mother's Day, since Mom's got in free, but it was still quite fun. Lots of shade trees keep it cool. Admission might be a bit on the expensive side for a large family, but it's a non-profit that seems well run so you can't complain too much about price.

Great place to eat Eat dinner at Jeff Ruby's!!
