Top Local Tips for Wilmington

Topsail, Oak Island, Southport Make sure that besides taking the downtown carriage rides that you get out to the beaches. Each is special in its own way. The ocean was alive with fish and dolfins. On the Oak Island pier we watched as one fisherman cast a net from the pier to fill up a bucket with mullet which he said he would make into sardines. From the pier we could see dolfins literally riding the waves like a surfer. People were catching many "blues". Walking along the beach we collected shells and watched the people fishing the surf pull in their catch. Southport is a lovely town with good food and nice stores. It is very much an upscale place to go. All in all we had a great time on this portion of our trip.
