We were with the Specialty Tour group and I talked to Barbara -asking about medical treatment for my sister Lola Booth who had fallen earlier in the day and Barbara immediately assisted us with a call to her Dr and Terersa Oliver took over-taking us to that Dr's office and after the appointment picked us up to return to the Hotel.
We needed to get to a drug store for supplies and she also drove us to Wendy's to pick up something to eat. All in all she couldnt have been nicer or more concerned. Doing all this made her late for going home I feel she went beyond the call of duty and we certainly appreciate all both ladies did to make a bad situation a bit better. My sister is now back to California and will see her own Dr hoping the broken wrist is healing.

Top Local Tips for New Bern

Loved Dinner at Moore's Barbecue Just down Route 17 from this Hampton Inn is a great place to dine on North Carolina Barbecue. Mr. Tom Moore, the owner of Moore's Barbecue, is a gracious host. His pulled pork is delicious and he is friendly and knowledgeable about New Bern and the surrounding countryside. Although we walked in strangers, my husband and I felt as if we walked out with a new friend.

Tryon Palace A beautiful building and wonderful tour with several other historic residences close by.

Dining and Entertainment Captain Ratty's on Middle St had good seafood and steak but the salad is an afterthought. Dining on the roof is fun though. On the same block, MJ's salads looked much more appetizing. The Neuse Boulevard Cinema which has three theaters is fun and almost a step back in time. On a Thursday night in August 2007, the same gentleman ran the box office, sold concessions, and projected the movies. For $6.50 it was a bargain and concessions had many of the candies that bigger chains have done away with, like Junion Mints and Hot Tamales. No trailers, so the movies actually start when they are listed... more or less.
