Top Local Tips for Asheville

Eating in downtown The Crispy Chicken at the Noodle Shop on Biltmore Ave. across from Pack Place is very good. The 1896 Bistro is very good, but more expensive. Many people told me that Doc Chey's Noodle House a half a block down the street is also good. We chose the Noodle Shop because it was the first one we got to, and we were very hungry. Also, try the French Broad Food Co-op at 90 Biltmore Ave. The prices were a little high, but it was interesting. We got a loaf of Olive-Rosemary bread and ate it with some cream cheese and red pepper tempanade, and it was a nice little breakfast.

Visit the NC Aboretum We have been to Asheville several times. We found the aboretum this trip. There are walking and biking trails. It was easy walking on wide paths with no uphill climbs. We enjoyed the native plants and nature. It was an easy drive from town.

restaurants We ate at the Mellow Mushroom and Hawleys restaurants downtown and I'd recommend both of them. The Mellow Mushroom has great pizza and servers local beers and the prices are really affordable compared to Dallas. Hawleys served some great cajun food although the service was a little slow. I think that soer of goes with the town though since it's so laid back. No one is in a hurry anywhere and you'll find waits if you go eat any later than 7 pm.
