French Broad Chocolate Lounge This cafe on Lexington is open until 10 PM on weeknights and has friendly counter help. They'll explain what's in their offerings such as the Deconstructed Mocha and ice cream with beer. Customers eat and drink at relaxing tables with different light levels in certain sections. (As mother and daughter, we sat in a bright section. Couples sat in an area with lower light; a family with a baby and a happy group celebrating a birthday chose the seats in the middle.) Tea and coffee were served in glass French presses. Imported chocolate bars and classy t-shirts are for sale in the corner past the cashier's counter. We felt very comfortable and unrushed.

Dynamic city The trip to Biltmore House is worthwhile, but be sure you've eaten and are feeling energetic before embarking on the tour of the home. The audio set is a must to fully appreciate the tour. Make some time to explore Ashville itself. There are so many shops and interesting areas; we would go back for that reason alone.
