good diner near just north of Asheville in Woodfin If you are visiting UNC Asheville or staying at the Days Inn Woodfin, Merrimon Rd continues north. Watch for a Mom and Pop diner on the left called Newbridge cafe. Yummy omelettes and hash browns and the owner is the cook, a great guy. While you're in the neighborhood, which is an unattractive strip mall, check out the magic shop across the road. The owner Ricky Boone is an amazing magician and he wowed us with sleight of hand tricks while we browsed the shop. No obligation to buy and you will leave richer for meeting him.
