Absolutely Horrible!

We way overpaid for our room - over $100 per night with taxes. Had we paid only $35 per night I would not be complaining, but the room was cold - no heater - dank, musty, and smelled of mold and mildew. I think the bed linens had never been washed. The proprietor would not let us out of our 2nd night. We left anyway and chose instead to stay in a tent, even though it was raining outside. It was that bad!

You have been warned. Don't stay here. This place isn't suitable for an animal. We only stayed here because it was the only place with rooms available on the weekend we were visiting Sylvan Beach. Now we know why it was the only place available. When you enter your motel room you will immediately notice a strong odor - smelling something like an old moldy basement but far worse. If you have allergies or asthma you probably won't survive the odor in the rooms. The motel room furniture is old, worn out, and broke. The television sets in the rooms are 9 - 13 inches and get a few channels. The air conditioner in our room didn't work, the fan would blow funky air around but the compressor would never kick on. They have no basic motel services available here either, you can't even get ice at this motel. And don't bother trying to complain to the front desk. The front office closed in the early afternoon, shortly after our arrival on a Saturday. So about a week after our stay here I received a letter in the mail from Dwarfline saying a bath towel was missing from our room and they charged our credit card $11 more dollars for the missing towel. Believe me the towels here resembled rags more than bath towels and I don't think anyone would want to bring one of these towels home! And I thought it to be funny how a towel could be missing because the shower was so filthy that we never even used it and therefore didn't need to use any bath towels. Aside from being a complete smelly dump, they will also rip you off with false claims of items being missing. I am surprised this place continues to be in business. If the health department were to inspect this place I am sure it would be shut down!

My wife and I have had many wonderful stays with Merle and John at the Dwarfline. I had to write in as I sense that the negative reviews written here are from a few "sour grapes" type folks who didn't appreciate what the Dwarfline and John and Merle offer. The Dwarfline is a place that is unique and hard to find in today's fast pace, impersonal world. Yes, it is by the woodlands at the shore of Oneida Lake, and it may (depending on weather) have some of the smells of nature and the lake. This is what goes with a vacation in peaceful, natural surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial blacktop rat-race. Merle and John are very hospitible and fair people but I know from observation that they won't tolerate trouble makers (I wonder if the negative reviews may have something to with this.....). Anyway, I had to say something. The rooms are basic and the knotty pine cottages absolutely delightful, always clean as far as I've ever experienced; I'll trade state-of-the art modern convenience any day for the fresh winds off Oneida Lake and the smell of the woodlands behind, while I sit in the wicker outside my room at the Dwarfline. I recommend this lovely inn to everyone.

The dwarf line is a wonderful family place with terrific staff and friendly enviroment. John and merle go out of thier way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They make thier guests feel save and welcome. It is in a convienent location, with beach acsess just across the street and downtown mins away ,as well as being adjancent a state park.I would highly recommend this hotel.

These people are ridiculous. The most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. No one else there. No service. The female owner was the most awful person I have ever met. Male caretaker unfriendly and rude as well.

This was awful. The motel was dirty. Mildew in the shower and windows. I wish I never stayed there with my late wife. Her last summer. The people were not very nice or hospitable. Dirty, scummy, mean.

The room was very small. The bathroom was even smaller with only a old toilet, stall shower and a prision size sink. There is no where to even unpack any luggage or put belongings (and for a family of 4 with small children, this is a BIG inconvience). Not the cleanest, nor did it smell pleasant. When we spoke with the owner to explain that this motel was inhabital for our family, she was rude and unaccommadating. We left this motel and suggest you don't waste your time or money (because she will keep your deposit).

The staff was horrible here. They are not courteous to young people and they were ridiculously rude to their surrounding neighbors.
