Historical Traveller Reviews of Saratoga Arms Hotel

Location: Perfect. The Saratoga Arms is on Broadway and close to all that Saratoga Springs has to offer. Broadway is a fabulous street filled with shops, restaurants, taverns etc.

Rooms: Pristine condition. Lovely decor.

Service: Excellent. The owners of this establishment live on premise. They are personable and professional. They cooked and served a morning breakfast that was delicious.

We had been to Saratoga on two other occasions but made the mistake of not staying at the Saratoga Arms. This is such a wonderful place. Kathleen, Noel and daughter Amy have done a great job. The rooms are beautiful. The general atmosphere is warm and inviting.

My husband and I are relocating to the Albany area which was the purpose of our trip. Kathleen went so far as to take us on a two hour tour of Saratoga Springs. With her good humor and unsurpassable knowledge of the area we had a great experience. We learned more about Saratoga in two hours than we could have learned in two weeks left to our own exploration. Saratoga is a lovely area and has much to offer.

The Saratoga Arms is the place to stay! Enjoy your visit.

My family and I spent only one night at this hotel but wished it was longer. Great character and combination of old world charm and modern ammenities. Central location in downtown makes shopping and dining easy. Also great front porch begs you to stay and relax. Owner is on site and is wonderful to chat with. Would definitely return.

The Right Address In Saratoga Springs

from goinfre
The Saratoga Arms is a gem -- a boutique hotel with all of the good characteristics of both a “bed and breakfast” and a “hotel,” but with none of the defects that I associate with each.

As a “bed and breakfast”, The Arms is managed by a multi-generational family that is on location at all times and is very “hands on.” The furnishings are tasteful, perfectly chosen antiques and the building itself has been beautifully restored. On nice nights, it’s wonderful to relax, sitting on comfortable white wicker chairs, settees or rockers outside on the porch -- which overlooks the town’s main street – and watch the world pass by. The owners are very knowledgeable and can recommend restaurants and activities with the assurance that comes from being long term local residents. Oh -- and they do serve wonderful breakfasts!

The downside for me of a bed and breakfast is that it can be too small and “precious,” a place where one has little privacy. That’s not the case here, since The Arms has been enlarged and modernized (e.g. wireless high speed internet) and can lodge a reasonable number of guests to ensure anonymity and privacy if so desired. Therefore, one has the best of both worlds: a small, modern, impeccably maintained boutique hotel that is managed by the personable, friendly, yet professional Kathleen Smith and her family, as if it were a bed and breakfast.

My description of The Saratoga Arms probably won’t be a great revelation, as many others also adore this hotel. The Arms asks for, and gets, the highest lodging rates in Saratoga Springs -- and is well worth it. (By urban standards, these rates are quite low). My wife and I just returned from several days at The Arms and we can’t wait to have another opportunity to return.

We loved the Saratoga Arms

We just left the Saratoga Arms and the family agreed that it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Our two teenage daughters were impressed with their room and especially the breakfast (and that's saying something!). The rooms are clean and well appointed. The front porch was delightful for a late afternoon glass of wine and chat. The staff was superb and very helpful. My wife and I will definitely be back.

My daughter and I spent the night while touring Skidmore. We had arrived into town without a reservation and I am happy to say that was the good news. We drove down the main street and came upon the the Arms...we both new this was the place. The friendly owners and the fabulous breakfast made this experience wonderful...If my daughter decides to attend Skidmore this will become our home away from home.

My husband and I love everything about this beautifully restored hotel. Excellent location as well. If you're going to Saratoga, this is the place to stay. The owner and staff provide terrific service as well as charm. Elegant old world style yet comfortable. You can't beat it.

the hotel is perfectly located and service is impecable. Kathleen the owner drove us to the train station (without us asking for it). Good breakfast & very clean

My wife and I loved the Saratoga Arms. It was the second time we stayed there. Our first time was in 2002 and just like then we had a fantastic stay. They have expanded the property quite a bit but have lost none of the charm. In fact the service was even more exceptional than before. Kathy and Noel are graciuos hosts. The Saratoga Arms feels more like home than a Bed and Breakfast. The charm of Saratoga is evident in every pocket of the Saratoga Arms. We Love the "Arms."

A Comfortable Inn with a Personal Touch

from BJDOO
This was our first trip to Saratoga Springs so went online to check out options. We liked the look and the location. Turns out this Inn was booked by the production company while in town filming "Sea Biscut". The staff was extremely helpful as we made plans to visit the track. They helped us connect with track personnel before the racing season to make the reservations we wanted. The Inn was quiet when we were there but we enjoyed the few folks we met. Our room was well appointed and quiet - but not grand. Pricing for in-season is on the high end. Location is great. We came in by train - less than 10 minute cab ride. We appreciated the ride back to the train station by the Inn's owner. This is a very safe bet. We would happily return.

Top Local Tips for Saratoga Springs

Best Secrets Don't miss a trip to Scalions for the Coconut Custard pie (which you can get to go)! And for some of the worlds best crepes make a trip down the side streets to Ravenous next to the most awesome bookstore - Lyrical Ballad (Don't get locked in teh old vault).

National Historical Park Well worth the effort!!

Avoid Forno Bistro Might be a great place for a brick oven pizza or to enjoy a glass of wine on their porch but there were better top notch places to eat
