My ultimate Adirondack vacation.
We loved our stay in Saranac Lake! Better than Lake Placid in so many ways. The Saranac Club and Inn was a true highlight. The room was beautiful. We loved our late nights in our room with a crackling REAL wood burning fireplace. Both before and after dinner we spent time in the public spaces enjoying cocktails and meeting the other guests, who were among the best co-travelers we had ever met. Friendly, down to earth, pleasant, good people. One morning we slept in, missing breakfast and yet when we appeared, the staff was able, willing and gladly ready to still treat us to their first rate service. If you go, I suggest you go during ski season or wait till summer and enjoy the beautiful grounds. We have rebooked and the owner promised to take us out on his huge boat for a full lake excursion. We're looking forward to it! Maybe we'll see you then!

Value, Luxury, Service.
It is, first, very reasonable for what you get. All of the extras from ensuite to throughout the common area, very luxurious. Finally, what I read on the service is true. Lots of detail and pampering. Not cheap, but worth every penny. But if you want the cookie cutter, corporate hotel, may not be for you.

As unique an Inn as you'ff find in the US!
This is due entirely to the staff at the Saranac Club and Inn. They went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and well attended to. And the mix of clientele was the most dynamic we've experienced in years. The evening cocktail parties each night must be the best in the Adirondacks! Artists, business people, everyone was friendly and down to earth. Their motto ought to be "No pretense, no Phonies; just attentive service and friendly people." I don't know how they do it frankly; maybe it's too good to last. But we wish them well and will truly look forward to our return.

America's Emerald Village, the BEST of small town life!
If you come to partake in all that the Adirondack Mountains have to offer, there is no better hub in which to base yourself. You might mistake the GM for the village mayor the way he touts all of the virtues of Saranac Lake. For whatever reason, something set me off and got me reminiscing about "Petticoat Junction;" certainly classy and upscale but down home at the same time. But it is a lovely spot without all of the tourist trappings of Lake Placid, just ten minutes away. The skiing, dog sledding were highlights for us. But when we were on the grounds of the Saranac Club and Inn, we could not have asked for more. Everything was geared for romance. We had a memorable weekend and I guarantee we will return in the summer. And staying in and dining in the inn's Cafe Saranac will be the best meal of your trip! I truly have never had better mushroom and truffle risotto and the desserts were out of this world. Safe travels!

The best of Saranac Lake!
Saranac Lake is a charming, sleepy little village. There are shops and resaturants, mostly mom and pops, no high end chains. Although, TF Finnegans Mens Clothier was a surprising little find with plenty to choose from. Dining out? Well, very nice, but as the front desk clerk at the hotel told us, "good, solid, mostly homespun cooking." Nothing wrong with that, but for true gourmet dining, stay in the Saranac Club and Inn, it must be the finest dining room in Saranac Lake (atleast the village!) Otherwise, the staff touts a select number of dining rooms in Lake Placid. Not once! did they steer us wrong! More to the point, everything every other reviewer said is true. Wonderful, loverly and yes a boutique. Believe, me you won't do any better in Saranac Lake than the Saranac Club and Inn.
