The Wawbeek rests on its laurels. This magnificent "old camp" -- which charges $300+ per nite for the cheapest lodging -- dissapoints greatly and relies on past reviews to entice customers. I recently spent a mid-October weekend there, in a cabin that lost power in themiddle of the night. Yes,there was snow in the air and no heat or electricity throughout the nite. No flashlights in the cabin. When I inquired about this at the main desk, the owner explained that it was a "momentary loss" --(5 hours) and that truly it was no big deal as her husband and her sleep with their window open at night, heat turned down. Difference is, they don't pay $300 for their "rustic." No attempt to compensate for this experience was made. During this time of our conversation, an older couple also came in to complain about their heatless night. Again, the owner even seemed miffed.
