Contrary to the negative reviews listed on your website, which reflect services provided by prior owners, my experience at the CatskillMtlodge was extraordinary. The lodge has since been bought by new owners who have made extensive renovations to the lodge, pub and restaurant. The lodge, pub and restaurant, now equipped with cozy fire places, a top of the line chef, and host and hostesses that make you feel at home, is the place to stay while vacationing in the Catskills.

I had a wonderful time during my stay at the Catskill Mt. Lodge. The lodge, which is under new ownership, has had extensive renovations made to it, renovations which include newly installed fireplaces, top of the line chef, host and hostesses to meet and greet, game room for children, and many other amenities that are soon to come like a sauna and entertainment rooms for families who wish to celebrate graduations, birthdays, engagements, etc. There will be many changes made to attract people of all ages who enjoy skiing and hiking, horseback riding, as well as internet access, good food, and an environment that provides contemporary jazz and good company. There is also a section of the lodge that accommodates pets (imagine taking your pet on vacation)! As these changes continue, this lodge will soon become the "it" place for people who enjoy nature and the finest accomodations at a reasonable price. I should also mention the lodge has a beautiful pool for those who enjoy traveling during the warmer months, and a pub that provides a relaxing atmosphere for those who enjoy a wood-burning fireplace, pool, music, and good conversation.

A group of friends and I decided to go on a weekend getaway. We found catskill through google. We stayed friday to sunday after noon and loved it. The food was excellent. We had a blast by the bar. The rooms were clean and felt like home. We will definitely be returning!

The hotel has new owners who are very gracious. The room I was in was immaculate. We were there for the antique car show. Their new steakhouse was awesome. They had free wireless Internet and served great cappuccinos. Oh, and they allow pets in some of the rooms, which was terrific for us.

Our room was in a separate building from the main lodge. It has not been updated since the 1960s. Upon opening the door, we were hit with a musty, stuffy smell that was a combination of pet odor, mildew, and dirty carpets. The tiles in the drop ceilings sagged as if they were about to fall down any minute. Lifting a tile along the wall provides direct access to the room next door (as well as sounds). The ceiling in the outdated bathroom is badly stained due to the lack of a ventilation fan. The room did have an air conditioner, which did not work. There is a shared balcony, but the chairs were metal and therefore completely rusted. Although this was a disappointment, especially at $105/night (when their website says $95 for a single queen bed on the weekend), we were still glad to have a weekend getaway in the Catskills. My boyfriend's family has been staying at the Catskill Mountain Lodge since he was a kid, which is why we stayed there.
However, on our first morning, we woke up to find no hot water. This was around 8am. The water was not even luke warm, it was ice cold. We let it run, and run. Still no hot water. We called the desk, they said "Let it run." When that didn't work, we went to the office. No one is ever at the desk, you have to hunt them down. When we found someone, we were told that it was impossible, there are 3 boilers. When we finally convinced him to come up to our room, he ran the water for about 5 minutes and then realized it was simply not getting warm. He said people were taking showers, it uses a lot of water, and left. Other guests said they had ice water when they tried to shower. It was a least a couple of hours before the water heated up. This is unacceptable, and we felt that we should receive some money off of our first night because of this HUGE inconvenience. When we went to the office to check out, no one was around, we had to hunt them down (again). When we did find someone, at first she didn't believe us when we told her we had no hot water. When we said we had someone in our room and he saw that there was none, she told us that "this is a big place, lots of people take showers, you have to wait. If you don't like it, don't come back!" When we said we wouldn't, she said "Good! I don't care!" Oh, and by the way, they charge your credit card at check-in, so they are guaranteed to get your money. Is this any way to run a business? Now a family that has been staying there for years will not return. I have never been spoken to in that way. And I will add that we were never rude to them, we didn't show our irritation in any way that would make someone speak back to us like that.
The lodge has become very run down, old, out of date, and the people running simply do not care to help you or to try and accomodate their guests in any way. I suggest spending your money elsewhere.
