My family and I stayed here for 10 days to see the New Year in Times Square. Excellent location, large room, friendly staff and good amenities. Very clean and modern with good views from both windows. Lovely food in their restaurant and nice drinks in the bar.

I loved every minute of being in New York It was great. The hotel staff were nice not to mention spotting a celeb in bar 10 (thats in the hotel)
and its so true that the beds are heavenly even more so if you have been traveling for 8 hours.
Plus the room I stayed in as a double was fairly big and comfy anyway who needs a big room your too busy hitting the shops and bars I suggest that when you come out of your hotel you go right rather than left which is rather dicey.

Small Rooms No Windows

Upon check in to what looked like a promising hotel by the elaborate lobby, we found ourselves in a room smaller than any I have ever seen in New York City with literally a sliver of a window that you had to climb behind a chair and over a lamp to glipse a view of the building next door through. Even at noon all light were blazing to provide even a modicum of lighting in our cramped quarters. Second day after much complaining, we were moved to a larger corner room with wondows for a much larger price! P.S. I am an ELITE Preferred Guest!!!

Looked everywhere for a contemporary NY hotel and found the perfect match. Excellent accommodations and amazing beds! Short walk to Times Square. LCD tv's in elevator eliminate akward silence. Staff was very helpful. Everyone should stay here...

Stayed at the NY Westin Times Square 8/8-8/11. It was a wonderful Hotel. Very close to Times Square/Theatre Dist. The room was not as small as I had expected from reading other reviews. The shower head was great! The sink and counter space in the bathroom was very limited for most women's things. The bed was very comfortable, couldnt get the room cold enough for all of the down blankets on bed. After checking out and leaving my husband realized he left his wallet in the safe. We called security and they checked the room 2x and found it, Fed Ex'd to us right off. Our friends in another room also left things, the maid had found them and returned them. The Hotel does not call you if they find things left behind, they put it in lost and found and leave it to you call. Overall it was a great stay, hotel was quiet and you can get away from the noise in Times Square. I'm sorry to say we did not make it to the SPA. We did eat at Shula's, it seemed expensive compared to other restaurants in the area. I would stay here again.

I travel regularly to New York...and the westin times square was by FAR the BEST hotel I've stayed in! The staff was very friendly and did everything they could to make my trip absolutely perfect. When i was checking in...I was upgraded to a BEAUTIFUL corner room..so I had windows almost all the way around the room. It had a nice view of the city. The room was very clean, especially the bathroom..and the heavenly shower and heavenly beds were indeed HEAVENLY! The showers had 2 showerheads on them and the beds were soo soft. Definitely a plus. The food in the hotel was pretty good, a bit expensive, but so is every other place in NY so thats OK! The location of the hotel was pretty nice..good for theater-goers. The next time i got to NY..i plan on staying at the westin again! After being there and talking with the great staff... I wouldnt stay anywhere else!

Stayed at the Westin on Saturday, Aug 9th and loved it. The room was a nice size. The beds and and linens were so comfortable. Everything was decorated very modernly. I would highly recommend this hotel. I didn't hear any street noise and were were on the 14th floor. If we opened the window you could hear noise but, but who opens a window in August?
Hotel staff was very nice and the hotel in centrally located to everything. It is right near all the theatres, which is great if you are seeing a show!

We booked the trip through Hotwire.com...paid $1100 for 4 nights hotel and direct flights to and from. Stayed from 7/23/2003 - 7/27/2003.
Check-in was a snap, but probably due to the fact that we didn't arrive until 11:00pm. During the day long lines did develop at the huge front desk with only 1 or 2 people working. We had requested a corner room on one of the upper floors with a city view, but by the time we arrived they only had 7 rooms left so they upgraded us to a Deluxe room instead of the Superior room. WOW! The room was huge and extremely clean and we had a decent view from the 16th floor. You hear horror stories of how small the rooms can be in NYC, but not this room. The bathroom had plenty of space and enough towels to dry half of Times Sqaure!
And for all the "Heavenly" amenities...well I now know why they call them Heavenly. The shower felt like you were standing in a waterfall, and the bed was THE best bed I have ever slept on....and if your in NYC on vacation and plan on doing a lot of walking like we did...then the Heavenly Shower/Bed is the best remedy for tired legs!
The maid service was excellent and the security was very nice at the front door (they have a sign posted you must present your room key to enter but they never once asked to see our key). The hotel was very quite at night...but if you like to sounds of NYC at night just crack the windows open a little.
All in all...great hotel with great service (for what we needed) in a great location. I will have a hard time staying anywhere else on my next trip to NYC.

Yes, the location is great if you like theatre and crowds, but the room I had on the 30th floor was small. The view was fun, though. The other good thing was the great dual-head shower and the comfy bed. Other than that, I had a lot of complaints considering how much I paid. When I first got in the room, I turned on all the lights to unpack my suitcase, but I literally could not see inside my bag while I unpacked it on the bench where one is supposed to put suitcases. The lighting was awful. Even the reading light by the bed was inadequate for the purpose. The bathroom was super-small and the annoying tiny metal sink and shelf made me think I was on an airplane. There was simply no room on the tiny shelf to place more than a few objects and I had the usual make-up kit, hair products and toothbrush, etc and they all would not fit. There is also very little closet space (1/2 a regular one) or drawer space. The shower curtain was inadequate as water puddled up on the bathroom floor, which is dangerous and slippery--and I closed the curtain well! Weirdly, I was told upon check-in that if I so much as moved an item in the snack-bar/fridge, I would be charged for it, so I can't imagine that even having the little fridge in the room is useful to more than just a very few guests who are willing to buy that stuff.
I called the "service express" 4 separate times for things over the course of my stay and never once did they answer before the 10th ring.
Anyway, I plan to chose another hotel next time, although I usually like Westin.

I would like to share my positive experience at the Westin Hotel in New York City, Midtown (Times Square). This is a new hotel since last October 2002. All people from the Reception desk is absolutely nice, friendly, customer service minded. Guest rooms are superb, clean. Location of the hotel is obviously great. Though rather expensive, it is a great hotel and I enjoyed it. Kind regards, Fabienne

Stayed here from 10th - 13th May following 3 nights at the Waldorf Astoria. We had a fab. corner room on the 38th floor with the most amazing views. The check in clerk (extremely nice and made a fuss of my 8 year old, giving her a kids fun pack) offered us a choice of high or low floors, I plucked up the courage to choose a high floor and wasn't dissapointed. The view was just amazing (room 3839). I loved the modern decor and the bathroom was terrific. The service, when requested, was excellent. However, when just walking past employees, notably in the street level lobby, they didn't acknowledge you, which gave a 'couldn't care less' impression. I'm used to staff greeting me, or certainly smiling. But if you asked them anything, they were brilliant and pulled out all the stops, clearly, the impressions they gave off were incorrect. The location was great, a few minutes walk into Times Square proper and if you do the Grayline tours, they all stop very near on 8th Avenue. Actually, I would choose this hotel over the Waldorf Astoria to return to, even though it is difficult to compare the two, the location of the Westin and the decor was much more my cup of tea.

Had heard mixed reviews of this Hotel. I lived in NYC for many years and watched this hotel go up, and had always wanted to stay there. Last weekend (Memorial day, 2003) I took my brother and his wife to NYC for a trip and we stayed here. It is a GREAT hotel for the price and the location is good (if you want to do theater and touristy stuff). Also, there is great subway access right outside the front door. Some tips: First off - I would ask for a high floor, and most importantly, ASK FOR A CORNER ROOM! My brother was on the 31st floor in a nice corner with wrap around windows. We checked in to our "better & higher" 45th floor room and it was about half the size with only one window?! Visiting the front desk took all of 2 minutes to get moved to the last corner room (on the 39th floor, WHAT A VIEW!). My guess is that the "normal" rooms are small-ish, but done very well. The corner's are bigger. This hotel holds up to any other Westin/W hotel I've been to, for sure. Also, breakfast at Shula's is wonderful, albiet expensive. Finally, the sushi and drinks are top-notch at the bar, BAR10. Definately recommend.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Westin Times Square. If you are doing the Theater, then the location is great. If not, then I would probably stay closer to Central Park (keeps you away from the 42nd street peep shows, etc). The Westin is not a NEW hotel as the weston web site would have you believe, but I assume it is new for Westin as the owner. Inside was very clean and the Club Level, where we stayed, was quite and cozy. However the Club lounge was undergoing contruction, so it was closed. Shula's was a bright spot. ...Caution...if you have breakfast at Shula's, before saying "yes" to the coffee and OJ as is customary when first sitting down to breakfast, realize that the OJ is not complimentary, but $6 a glass. The front desk staff was not the greatest in the world (told me that they would not consider a room upgrade unless we were Platinum status-I am Gold), but the bellmen where very kind. Heavenly Bath was awesome and spacious. We paid $239 a night for Club Level.

Bella Vita Pizzeria on 43rd; NYC Best Salads, Pizza and Pasta (and Cannoli) in NYC. Homemade sauces, fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, large portions and fabulous service! Thanks Emma for making us feel like family! We ate at this fabulous restaurant two times during our three day visit! We found this hidden jewel by noticing the NYC police stopping there for "take out" when we first arrived in the city. All the desserts are priced at $5.95. Seriously, try the Cannoli, it is better than the one we ordered at the famous Ferrara Bakery & Cafe in Little Italy. You will be thanking me for this recommendation! :)
