The hotel was clean, quiet...very convenient and centrally located for the New York attactions we were interested in seeing. A selling point for us was that parking was included and it was so close to everything. We have actually stayed at the hotel twice and are planning another trip in a couple weeks and have already made our reservations to stay with you again!

Every time we stayed in New York, we slept at Travel Inn and recommended it to a lot of our friends. The rates are good, the parking is free and the rooms are very convenient and comfortable. Plus the location is great !
We'll come back! It is the best price-quality rate!

Very good value

from TravelerBoston-7
Stayed here during the Columbus Day weekend and thought it was a great deal, especially the free garage parking. Within easy walking distance to Time Square, the Circle Line, the subway, anything you could possibly want. Hotel room and was fine. Don't understand the recent negative reviews.

Nicew stay

Staying there 3 nights 09/12/03 We had a nice stay there. The reception was not very helpfull (I work in a hotel in Amsterdam myself so I know that it can be improved) when we checked in. The room was very good.
Lots of space and clean. Location was very good, 3 min. walk from times square. Police cars can wake you up in the middle off the night because there's an office on the otherside of the street.

Horrible!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My parents have stayed at the Travel Inn over twenty times and the quality has taken complete nosedrive over the years. The Paki/Indian staff is rude and arrogant and the prices have skyrocketed. This hotel attracts a low class element and you there is a good chance you will woken up by load partying. Also, if you book your room on the Internet they will not honor the room type or the rate. STAY AWAY!

We chose this hotel after reading the reviews on this site. They were spot on.

The receptionist was pretty rude when we checked in after a long flight and a very cramped, uncomfortable taxi ride from the airport (don't use Super Shuttle !). The rooms are clean, a good size and the beds are comfortable. Walls are a bit thin so we could hear the neighbours when they were loud. Best bit though was the location. Two blocks from Times Square....literally a 5 minute walk. Great Deli next door and a decent restuarant across the road. Bus Depot with loads of taxi's and a tube station was also about 5 minutes away. We stayed here for 4 nights and had no complaints. Price was comparable with other hotels but judging by the reviews, we got good value for money. I would recommend this hotel.

s cold!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was there this last weekend when the temperature dropped. The AC could only blow out cold air. Had to resort to leaving all available lights in the room on all day to get the temperatue of our north facing room warm enough to get ready for bed. Some rooms do have bathroom heaters - but not 536.

t beat it!

We stayed here twice, at the start of our trip, and three weeks later, at the end. On the first stay we were on the third floor, right next to the pool - the room didn't have air con, but did have a real opening window and plenty of space. The second time we were on the sixth floor, in a room with an uncontrolable a/c unit, and right next to the lift machinery! The pool is unheated, spacious and seems little used which is a pity. The staff were freindly and helpful. There are two parts of the hotel, one part seems to require a change of lifts on the third floor. The diner next door offers splendid value breakfasts, and the best pancakes we found anywhere in North America! For a budget evening meal, cross the street to the Kraft Restaurant. The Travel Inn is an excellent budget stay, very conveniently located with all the amenities you need (except an in-room coffee maker).

Perfect!

Have stayed here a few times. Can't beat the price and location. Free parking a bonus! One of the few hotels in the city with a pool. Would stay here anytime

Excellent Place to Stay

We spent three days in NYC and Stayed at the Travel In Hotel. Very nice hotel with free parking. Convient to just about everything and has a pool on the third floor. Two block from Times Square. Clean rooms good service and police employees. Will stay there whenever in NY

A Hidden Treasure For the Traveling Family

from A TripAdvisor Member
For a large city this is quite a deal! The price is reasonable(2 adults, 2children, $150). That may seem high but then there arent the hiden costs for parking and such and you don't have a community bathroom, and there is a small fitness facility and pool. There is free parking and you are in an awesome location! Just a few short blocks a way are great restaurants, Broadway shows, shopping, and all of the excitement of Times Square! Very convenient and allowed us to spend our money in the city not where we stayed.

very nice value

We operate several group tour series with this property. We have never had a complaint about the hotel quality or location. I would rate it at about 3-stars. Great people to work with!

Top Local Tips for New York City

Getting to and from JFK I would definitely take a cab to and from the airport. We took a shuttle bus and unfortunately being stuck in traffic and then being last drop off is very frustrating. The taxi's in New York have to charge a set fee to and from the airport, so you can't get ripped off. Well worth spending that little extra as I'm sure it will save you at least an hour.

Empire State Building When going to the Empire State Building it is possible to buy tickets on line - this does not save significant time. The queue was 2 hours of standing. There was even a que to come down in the lift. Consider going very early in the day or altenatively use the Top of the Rock where it is possible to have booke times to go up the lift

Remember the address of where you're heading..... Let's just say from my experiance of getting cab's in NY that not one of the taxi drivers knows where they are going. As a tourist I thought if you were to get into a cab and give the address of where you are headed they would know where to take you. WRONG!!....make sure you also know the rough location as well so you can explain to the cabbie how to get there!
