We went to New York for our belated honeymoon and it was our first visit. New York was brilliant which was more than can be said for this hotel. The reception staff were miserable, unhelpful and in one case just plain rude. The room was dirty it smelt disgusting. The sheets had holes in and were not clean and the bathroom was dirty and smelt mouldy. The room was so dark as it faced the side of the adjoining building so we had to keep the (broken) blind down all the time. Thank god New York has so much to see and do that we spent the minimum time in this hotel. We are going back, but not here.

Bad service, bathroom stinks, tiny closet, no garbage bin, tiny tv, room needs update.
Big shower. Good location but plenty other hotels around the corner. Not worth it even it's cheap.
Would not recommend it to any one.

I stayed at this hotel by chance as my first choice was booked up tht thirty thirty was susgested by my travel agent and boy was I pleased will go back there again we were on the top floor our view was of the empire state building. Very clean up to date and friendly hotel would tell anyone to go here if staying in NYC

Awful, awful,awful

Just back from a four day break in NY; I had been booked to stay @ 30/30 with my wife.We didn't even manage one night at this awful hotel - the room was a disgrace.I took some digital photos; nothing like the website and the decor would be best contemplated when you've finished your dinner - certainly not before !Happy to share photo's - just ask via this site

Room was clean and basic, good value for the price paid. Excellent position for sightseeing staff were very friendly and polite. Would use this hotel again.

I have never paid more than $120 on my 4-5 stays, so price is a big draw. Rooms are small (shut one door to open another) and plain, although bathrooms can be spacious and have modern, designer fixtures.
Cleanliness can be a problem - especially in bathroom. Another negative - front desk staff is about as dour as you can imagine. An acceptable entrant in the sub-$150/night Park Ave. South list of choices - but I keep looking for the better alternative.

If you enjoy college dorm life, this is the hotel for you

I made the mistake of staying at this hotel Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25) 2003. Like a previous reviewer, I had to deal with about 200 kids from a college fraternity basketball team who were booked for the weekend. All 3 nights of my stay were sleepless, due to the 12:00 - 4:00 AM hallway parties -- the third night was so bad they had to call the police. I would have changed hotels, but it would have cost $20 plus one night ($160 total), and other hotels in Midtown are pretty expensive. Also, I was assured the kids would be under control -- or else face eviction (didn't happen). The hotel itself was passable for basic accomodation, but the beds are too small, and the maids don't keep the room well stocked, (no ice bucket, water glasses, kleenex), and the air conditioner was a bit noisy -- but happily, drowned-out by the college kids. By far the worst infraction, however, was when I called the hotel manager, (who wasn't present at the time I was there), to get a refund: He offered one night free, when I wanted the whole stay refunded, he told me if I was so uncomfotable I should have stayed elsewhere! That's my advice, too. Stay elsewhere!

Stayed at the Thirty Thirty Hotel in Feb 03, excellent location near the Empire States Building, staff really friendly, standard room was good, exactly as shown on the website. Would definitely recommend this hotel as it was good quality and value for money! The cheapest website i found for this hotel was Tougang!

I've just returned from a 5 night stay at the Thirty Thirty. I'd previously read some reviews here that weren't too positive, however our experience was good overall. While the staff weren't overly helpful, and the rooms weren't luxurious, we felt we got good value for money. Our room was very basic - but it was clean and comfortable (if a little small!). We were there during the recent blizzard, but the room was always warm and cozy. The bathroom was fine. The only comment I'd make was that I'd prefer the sink to be in the bathroom rather than the bedroom!! but...apart from that, all was good. The location was great - really close to the subway, and within walking distance of the Empire State, Macy's, Times Square, Grand Central Station, etc. All in all it was a pleasant, clean, comfortable hotel, that was good value and in a good location - I would definitely stay there on my next trip to NY!

Just returned from a six day stay and was favorably impressed. Had a Deluxe room which was ,reasonably priced,comfortable,well equipped,quiet and clean. Bath was very smart. Restaurant Zana's served a good breakfast and excellent Italian entrees at dinner. As previous reviewer noted, Front Desk staff, while always accomodating, for the most part were unsmiling!!. Lobby furnishing was sparse and somewhat cheap looking.Improvement is needed in this area.. Good location and convenient Subway to the Theatre District. However, if one is visiting NYC principally for the Theater and does not enjoy the Subway, a Hotel nearer Times Square would be suggested. From now on the"Thirty-Thirty" is the Hotel in NYC for me.

Actually Really Nice Room

My girlfriend and I met in mid-October for a weekend stay in the city.
1) Price was OK - not great (like a midweek, non-peak) 2) Zero Lobby ambience 3)Desk satff seeemd indifferent and wouldn't smile 4)room was very nice with access to fire escape, great bed, two TV's and a real couch, clean high quality linens 5) bathroom was highlight of room - no tub, but sleek, clean and stylish. I would suggest you ask for the rooms with two window access to fire escapes. There is a Starbucks around the coner on Park and 28th(?), but go out the front and to the wonderful small coffee nook @ Lex & 30th. Very cool. Close to Empire State, and l block from Subway - all in all, not a bad place if you care more for price, room, and reasonable location.

Clean and comfortable

After reading previous reviews I was a little anxious about staying at the Thirty Thirty but it turned out to be fine. The rooms are compact but they are clean and comfortable with exceptionally nice bathrooms. I had no trouble requesting the use of iron and hairdryer - they were promptly sent to the room. The only thing I would say to watch out for is if you book a taxi through the hotel. They have a contract with a taxi firm who will charge you a lot more than the yellow cabs.

From Sept 25-28 my husband and I stayed at Thirty Thirty Hotel. I paid the nights before read all the comments, and I was unsecure about the hotel. But the location is excellent, very clean and good room. If you will go to NYC to get up early (walk out) and come back during the night, we think this is perfect for you. If you walk two block you are in the 5 ave. with many places to eat, just in the corner of Madison ave and 30 st there is a Deli open 24 hrs and in the Madison ave are many places to eat too. And don't forget the restaurant of the hotel.
Finally, it's good enough to stay few days.

getting around Tour Bus Buy the Tour bus ticket costing forty dollars for a two day ticket well worth the money.hop on and of the bus where ever you want, entrance to all tourist attractions are free with this ticket eg Empire State Building Ellis Island Ferry to see Statue of Liberty. Ground Zero etc. Also stops at shopping streets like Canal Street and China Town. Also very good tour guides on each bus

Greyline Bus Tour Really worth doing, but try differnt busses because some guides are better than others. If you just get off there will be another bus along in about 15 mins. We bought the two day all areas ticket for about $50 and were really glad we did it.
