Absolutely Pathetic

What a disappointment. I was there for three nights on business, and thought I was on Candid Camera...
Forget about the fact that the rooms are tiny (even for Times Square), have no dressers, no counter in the bathroom and you don't even have room to turn around in the shower...I've never stayed at a place with more pathetic service., and lack of caring about their customers. In one room, I had two lights, a TV, a minibar and a most importantly, a thermostat that didn't work. Didn't really care about the lights and the minibar...and it took all day, but they finally fixed the TV. Despite repeated promises, though...could never fix the thermostat and get it below 78-degrees in my room.
Even speaking to "the boss" was a complete waste of time. I spoke to the General Manager, who told me that he would make sure the room is fixed immedaitely, told me I would get one of my nights complimentary, told me I would be invited back, etc. He never made good on any of his promises to rectify the situation...and since I left, has never returned a phone call of an e-mail. Needless to say, in 3-days, the room was never fixed, I couldn't switch into another room...and certainly never got the credit that I was promised. Even room service was horrible. It took three calls and 45-minutes to get a bucket of ice, and ordered dinner one night that was cold by the time it got to my room.
It was really like a bad joke. There are some great hotels in Times Square. This place isn't one of them...and obviously they don't care about taking care of their customers, either.
I hope this review will prevent somebody else from having the same experience I did.

Everybody from your doorman to your bellboy was extremely rude to us and treated us like dirt. The girl at the front desk was very nice and polite.

Several years ago, we did a quick tour of The Time hotel and were impressed by its stylishness. Each room is decorated predominantly with a single color (our room was red). Time has taken its toll on The Time, however. The hotel looks rather shabby. The rooms are in real need of some TLC. I'd look elsewhere, I'm afraid, until some improvements are made.

DO NOT STAY HERE! we woke up in the middle of night to a rat digging through our things. i wonder if they ever clean any of the furniture, sheets, comforter, or bathroom.

Small, but quite nice

The rooms were undoubtably on the tiny side, but were decorated tastefully with modern looking furniture and lighting. High speed internet access, fax machine, pricey minibar that charges you for removing items from it (whoops! I didnt know! they straightened it all out, they aren't rip off artists thank god). I recommend it to those travelling solo, with a location that cant be beat. Time square is around the corner!

Quality Accomodation

Yes, the bedroom and bathroom is very small, but they are clean and adequate and the designer has paid a high attention to atmospheric detail dimmable lighting, BOSE radio, red/yellow or blue colour scheme. This is not budget accommodation, built on the cheap and this is clearly evident. The hotel is located in an excellent (but touristy) area with easy access to the Subway and theatres. The trendy bar and restaurant is a nice place to relax after your partner has taken you for several laps around Macys and is used by the locals as the local pre-theatre meeting point. We found it cheaper to book a room directly with the hotel (rather than an agency). As the staff were friendly and helpful, the rates reasonable and we had no complaints in our week stay, we would certainly consider staying there again.

After reading all of the reviews on here i was a bit pessimistic about the hotel....we found on their website a room for only $135 a night which is an amazing price for anywhere especially that close to times square (100 ft.) The rooms were clean and surprisingly bigger than what i expected and the staff was very nice...the bar and restaurant seemed dead but all in all i would definitely stay there again.....oh and watch out when you are looking in the mini bar, its electronic and charges the room when you take something our, even the $50 bottle of moet champagne that i took out to look at.

I went last year for the Macy's parade and was surprise that it was RIGHT there. The place was small and the rooms were tiny but it was comfortable and clean. The price was right and it was within great distance from lots of NYC places. Overall good time~

Lost TIme

My choice of The Time was largely based on the recent Travel Channel coverage by Sam Brown. I was extremely disappointed in the ROOM---VERY VERY tiny even by NYC standards. It was well appointed and nicely designed --but---did I say TINY???? The staff were all extremely accommodating and is the main positive for this hotel. Overpriced for the room size, I will look for something else next trip.

Gotta agree with the TripAdvisor User from DC. I also stayed at The Time during the April snowstorm. The staff could not have been nicer, even apologetic about the weather. However, the restaurant was closed for nearly two days and my suite was tiny. I have stayed in many other NYC hotels and their rooms were bigger than my suite. [The bathroom in a Waldorf suite was bigger.] For the price, there is better. The jacuzzi worked, it just takes a degree in engineering to figure out how to get it going. I do not think I would stay there again.

Taken Good Care of at the Time

I stayed at The Time on West 49th St, between 8th and Broadway about a month ago while traveling to the city on business. I got a great deal from a travel Web site ($150 for the night) and decided to stray from the usual lodging alternatives situated around Madison Ave. The Time was a pleasant experience from the first step in the door. As I entered in the early evening, I was greeted by a pleasant door man, and there was a happy hour crowd, mostly made up of young execs, at the bar on the main floor (second). The bar area was dim, with "modern" couches and little TV screens implanted in the walls...very cool. The girl at the front desk was very pleasant, asked my choice of blue, red, or yellow, which ended up being the main decor color of my room. She directed me to my room, which was small but clean and smelled great, with very stylish features and a comfortable bed. I was told there was a complementary gym, but never got a chance to try it out. Right across from Chicago theater and a block from Ruby Foo's, this place was great, and well worth the trip.

Great Time

Stayed at The Time in May 2003 and as a female travelling on my own it was perfect. The location could not have been better. The rooms were spotlessly clean and a good size. Colour schemes were funky. Staff were discreet but there when you needed something. The lift was amazing too. I would definitely stay at The Time on my next trip to New York.

Top Local Tips for New York City

Metro You can buy metro cards on a special offer at the moment - you pay $10 and get $12 dollars worth of rides. Really recommend this if you are heading around Manhatten. Subway safe as well.

City Bus Tours Take the City Bus Tour, we paid $179.00 for two tickets. We got three days hop on hop off sight seeing tours, Which consisted of the Uptown tour (blue line) and the downtown tour (red line) and the night tour to Brooklyn Bridge, free entry to the Empire State Building, Ellis Island Ferry, Statue of Liberty and the City of New York Museum.

Dinning in NYC Mee Noodle House located at 795 9th Avenue at the corner of west 53rd Street in Manhattan (212-765-2929) was cheap & cheerful and very tasty. Good value. Pam Real Thai Food located at west 49th St., between 9th and 10th Ave. http://www.pamrealthai.com again very good value and tasty food. Cash only
