After 30 minutes on the phone I was offered a room at the "main hotel" on Bleeker where I had just been for the key. That hotel was presented to me as full until I made clear I would call the New York City Dept of Consumer affairs where suddenly a room appeared. They agreed to hold it if I ran back to the hotel since the woman on the phone wanted to close up the office and leave. I was given a large cleaner room. The bed had a broken leg, and therefore tilted but by then it was late in the evening and I stayed. No compensation was offered since I was told I got a great deal by being given the larger room.
I would not recommend these "Signature" hotels to anyone
