Wow what a disappointment

Firstly after having read reviews about the rooms on this site & being booked into a standard room, on arrival asked if we could upgrade to a Club Room without even seeing the standard rooms.
The Club Room was as pictured on the web site, the bedroom was of ample size for two, with two double beds. The bathroom was a little on the small side but okay. The room was clean and the hotel was very well presented.
If you choose to cram extra people into any room to economise, you can't the complain about lack of space.
It's well worth paying for the Club Room as you get a complimentary breakfast (hey guys don't forget to leave a tip for the staff in there they are helpful & pleasant), and evening Hors d'Oeuvres, and obviously the more people to a room the better value it becomes!!
Only one slight minus, this is a very busy hotel especialy while we were there, the week of the Thanksgiving Parade. But, you couldn't want for a better location, depending on your room you can see Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, 7th Ave & Hudson River, and everything a stone's throw away.
Would definitely stay there again & recommend to friends.

Stayed here for a one night stay this week. Huge hotel with smallish lovely rooms. Great bed and wonderful night's sleep. Super location.
Upon check-in they were offering an upgrade to the club floor for $40.
It was great and well worth it, and included evening appetizers and a continental breakfast. Staff was very professional and always helpful.

Great location; Great hotel

Stayed here right after Thanksgiving and the hotel was a lot more than I expected; huge lobby, great location and nice, clean room. The staff was a little on the slow side (took 3 phone calls to get them to replace the broken hairdryer in the room), but was an overall great experience.

We stay at this hotel whenever we are in NYC basically because of it's convenient location. Whenever we stay, the rooms are always very warm.
The AC is never cold enough in the summer and if it is a mild day in the fall or winter the AC doesn't work at all. We were there during a cold period in November and the room was atleast 75 degrees our entire stay. Their cooling system can not handle the demands of the building.
In the summer or the winter we end up opening the windows to try to get some cool air and we have to hear the street noise all night long. We have complained to management but they never resolve the problem. If location is important, it is a good place to stay. Prices are outrageous at holiday time. We are trying to find another hotel in the area.

Stayed at the Sheraton New York which is a perfect location for theatre and shopping,subway and city tour stop. Loved every minute of N.Y. but very expensive for our low Canadian dollar. Sherton seemed overpriced since under renovation and dining room closed.Hated paying for fitness gym[20.00]per stay. and calling card calls from the room.N.Y people have become a very tiny bit friendlier. Still have an awesome city.

I stayed here twice - most recently in August. I come to the city 3-4 times a year. Room was very clean (surprising to read here about dirty bathrooms) on both occasions. The best thing was the great bed and linens. Best hotel bed I've been in. Staff was professional; called housekeeping for help opening windows and they were prompt and polite.

Cannot beat the location of this hotel! Although a very large hotel, service was incredibly efficient - and I absolutely cannot complain on that front. Got a great deal on Hotwire, and was quite impressed by this hotel and its recent renovations. Beds are incredibly comfortable, room is well-designed - only problem was unbelievably thin walls...even low level conversations from our neighbors were able to be heard through the paper thin walls and connecting vents. Other than that - would recommend it to anyone!

Upon checkin the bathroom was still dirty. I had to call twice before it was cleaned. more attention to deatils required. The room I was in had not been renovated yet
Amazingly Bad

I stayed at the Sheraton twice (business, and this is where they put us up). The first time I was sleeping in and heard knocking on the door. I found this strange as I'd used the "Do Not Disturb"sign. I answered the door to find a hotel employee who was there to CHECK THE MINIBAR to see what had been used. I pointed out the "Do Not Disturb" sign. He said he'd only take a minute. Again, I pointed out the sign. Again, he said he'd make it quick. I let him in as he wasn't going away. What is this?
We had to give our credit cards down at the front desk, don't they charge whatever you use from the minibar to that?
The second time was truly amazing. We received a room whose bathroom ceiling was damaged. It looked like water damage, I couldn't be sure.
Sitting in the bedroom, I heard a loud noise from the bathroom. Large chunks of plaster had fallen from the ceiling where the water damage had been. I called downstairs, explained what had happened and asked for someone to bring a broom and dustpan. They never arrived. We just had to make our way around the plaster. I don't think I'd stay there again.

Wonderful hotel

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We experienced no problems whatsoever. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay at this hotel the next time we are in New York.
Top Local Tips for New York City
Stay away from Maison Do not go to "Maison" (across the street from the hotel) for breakfast/brunch. Although it is open 24 hours, it is overpriced; the food is below-average quality; and the service is rudimentary. Walk a few blocks and you will find diners and other eateries that are much better for morning nourishment.
More expensive than I thought it would be Take plenty of money. New York is very expensive. Waiting staff expect a minimum 20% tip on bill too.
Don't be afraid of the subway! Make sure that you are not traveling on the subway during rush hour on weekdays. Buy a multi-day ticket and use the saved cab money on a something else! Get a good subway map, take your time and don't be afraid to ask for directions. New Yorkers are a lot nicer than the reputation they get!

The room was small, but not too bad. It was also in bad shape, dark, the decorative part of the wall sconces was falling off on all lamps, carpet old and tired, TV ancient.
I don't care what this hotel costs I would never stay again, I am so disappointed in Sheraton - shame on you!!
