| Not bad for the price.. |
| Arrived 2/13/2007 5PM +/-. Cab driver pulled the bags from the cab and we stood on the sidewalk waiting for UPS guy to deliver to hotel. I struggled the bags up steps ( I have a bad back ), got them almost in the door and a bellman appeared. Room and rate quoted were correct. King room on floor 10. Not a small as I had feared reading other reviews. King Bed, 2 nite stands, desk w/chair. No plasma TV as advertised. Probably 17x12 + bathroom with slate floor & shower only. Room was clean with exception of large, old stain on outter spread. Room and bath were cleaned and linens refreshed daily. No toilet paper was left on 2nd day, but call to desk produced it immediately. Wake up call was requested and received on time. High speed internet did not work in room. Desk said to bring laptop down to lobby and they would look at it... We were already unpacked and relaxing so I decided to overlook this... figured top floor of old bldg, crummy highspeed wiring... I took laptop to lobby and connected fine. Room faced Times Square, and was bright, but the shades worked just fine. 2 small elevators with single call button in the middle.. I figured out quickly how to determine which elevator was coming... Not fast, but not the 15 minute wait I had read in other reviews. Biggest gripe would have to be the room key-cards.. Didn't work most of the time, had to insert, re-insert, etc... pain in the butt. We mentioned to desk and a manager came up and changed out the keys for new. Still only worked half the time. Desk staff was helpful, professional and semi-friendly. Check-out was smooth and bellman carried out bags and hailed a cab. .. Price was $100/nite less than Crowne Plaza 1 block away. All-in-all, I would rate this property a B-. Would stay again .. |
