Quality Hotel Times Square New York City

It was our first time to the usa and to New York, we had seen lovely pictures in the virgin brochure and on the internet so of course we where expecting the same and high standards throughout. Our room was cold, damp and like a box room there was no hot water ever and it smelt bad from the paintwork also as they where decorating at the time.The elevators where very noisy and there where gaps under the door.It was a good base but a very poor hotel with a lack of facilites and very poor conditions and standards.

The hotel advertised Queen beds (actually a double-they claimed as a queen) Rooms were small and hard to move around in. No view of the city at all and we could hear other guests in the halls etc... Location was the only thing going for this place. Price wasn't that great either...especially since they didn't bother to tell us about all of the construction. Consierge is a joke at best (lady sitting in the lobby)

Arrived 2/13/2007 5PM +/-. Cab driver pulled the bags from the cab and we stood on the sidewalk waiting for UPS guy to deliver to hotel. I struggled the bags up steps ( I have a bad back ), got them almost in the door and a bellman appeared. Room and rate quoted were correct. King room on floor 10. Not a small as I had feared reading other reviews. King Bed, 2 nite stands, desk w/chair. No plasma TV as advertised. Probably 17x12 + bathroom with slate floor & shower only. Room was clean with exception of large, old stain on outter spread. Room and bath were cleaned and linens refreshed daily. No toilet paper was left on 2nd day, but call to desk produced it immediately. Wake up call was requested and received on time. High speed internet did not work in room. Desk said to bring laptop down to lobby and they would look at it... We were already unpacked and relaxing so I decided to overlook this... figured top floor of old bldg, crummy highspeed wiring... What a great Hotel!! I had seen some bad reviews so I was a little weary of what to expect but I could not have been happier!! The location is ideal.. a min walk and you are in Times Square!! All the staff were great and could not do enough to help you!! Our room was also fantastic, we had all we needed, a bed,a TV,a bathroom and a view of New York City. If you want a clean comfortable room with no extra fuss then this is the place for you.. We have already booked again for next Jan!!!

It's within steps from the main action centre, i.e. Times Square NY. What more could u expect?
