Surprisingly Great!
On a recent pleasure/conference trip with my 8 year old daughter, I decided to save some money and have something other than the Midtown Manhattan experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the Pan American hotel. It was reasonably priced, had a great, knowledgeable, accomodating and friendly staff and was cleaned impeccably daily. The location was so convenient to bus and subway lines to Manhattan and other interesting points in Queens. While the immediate neighborhood was superficially unappealing, we fast discovered a great, cheap and very authentic Chinese restaurant/supermarket next door, a great Afghani restaurant called Bahar's across the street a block down and Pop's diner a block away. We were picked up promptly and free at the airport and the return trip was timely and a nominal fee. While the rooms may seem rundown to some, they were the same quality as the Midtown Hilton, but the Pan Am has a friendlier staff and was more than half the price. We will definitely be staying th...Read more

Great staff
The bell captain was so knowledgeable and the organized trip was well worth the money as we were only there for a couple of days. We viewed most of the tourist places so I would definitely recommend the trip the only down side were the beds so uncormfortable as both me and my wife had very bad backs and hardly slept

HORRIBLE Customer Service and Dirty Room!!!!
I stayed at the Pan American Hotel in Queens, NY. My mom booked the reservation so I really had no choice of hotel since it was a family excursion. The only man that was polite was the gentleman that ran the concierge. The bellhop was decent, but not too friendly. The receptionist was polite, yet not inviting. AND THE WORST PART: DO NOT DINE AT THE HOTEL RESTAURANT!! I went in there about 9PM for some dinner and the waitress would not seat me. I stood at the door for 10 minutes and when she finally recognized me, she said to me in an extremely rude way, "What do you want?" I said i wanted a table and she rolled her eyes and told me to sit down. I sat down and watched her walk past me about 10 times and serve the other 3 customers that were in there and then I watched her sit down at another table. She just stared at me. I left and then came back a few minutes later. I asked her why she had not served me. Her response was, "I'm busy and I'm tired, can't you see?"
Besides that, the r...Read more

Great hotel for the travellar on a tight budget
Pan American Hotel is the kind of hotel for those who travel to see the sites and need a place to rest. If you are the kind of traveller who spends most of their time in the hotel, Pan American may not be for you. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. It is reasonably priced and you get what you pay for. It's in a decent neighborhood and the subway is 4 blocks away. Honestly, the first night we walked to the subway - my husband and I felt a bit sketchy, but after familiarizing ourselves with the subway and the neighborhood - we were okay. The front desk staff and bellmen were very friendly, patient and informative. Although we had a great time, we won't be staying there again. Upon arrival our bathroom had hairs on the floor, sink, and bath - obviously not from us. The room reeked of cigarettes (it was suppose to be a non-smoking room). So again, you get what you pay for.

Great hotel
I stayed at this hotel in October 2005 for 2 nights and it had free internet access and the room had a nice shower and bath. It was clean and had 2 double beds. It was a 10 minute walk to the subway but it is one straight walk and you pass by a Chinese cake shop that you can get the most amazing cakes and buns. The room was big too.
