POOR EXPERIENCE
From the elevator (1 of 2)which was broken for over a week, to the other equipment which couldn't be fixed, to the lack of room amenities, to the lack of interest of the management, to the discourtesy of the staff in hogging the only operating elevator, to the staff person using the ice machine at 7am for 20 minutes, making no effort to diminish the racket, to the higher prices than published - the whole stay was pretty much a hotel bummer. This place is way overrated.

Great
This was the fourth time I'd stayed in the Lucerne, and as always, the service was great, the room was comfortable, and the food in Nice Matin was a joy. I'll be back.

Great room & good price
I've stayed at the Lucerne before and I like the location and excellent staff. I stay in the city every year in March to catch some shows at the Beacon and the staff does a great job to make my stay enjoyable.

Excellent Location
We love staying at the hotel. The location is great for local shopping and eating. I can always get a cab and the train station is close. My daughter is in school at Columbia; access to the school is easy. We have walked on nice days.
We always stay in a king suite and have often joked that we would buy the unit if we could, complete with a small sitting room and kitchenette (close to Zabar's)

Small but comfortable
We chose the hotel because our old standby, the Mayflower, has closed, and our son's family lives nearby. Rooms are not spacious, but nicely done. Attached restaurant is wonderful.
