Imagine an hotel run by accountants and you have Le Parker Meridien. The coldly commercial welcome (a stern warning about re-merchandising) set the tone for the whole stay. Also of note was the abrasive and clueless concierge who failed to be helpful on restaurant booking and only perked up a bit when theatres were mentioned, as 'I will charge you a commission you know'. Having also stayed in the Meriden Bora Bora I conclude that these problems are systemic throughout the chain- they don't try to please you, just squeeze you.

Great location (just south of Central Park), close to subway, good restaurants close by, rooms are modern and clean, entrance way to lobby is a strange (long, blank hallway), high speed internet for free, friendly & helpful staff.
