Terrific Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had an enjoyable 2-night stay at the Iroquois. The room was beautifully appointed and included many creature comforts. Like the extra soft linens, luxurious terry robe, Belgian chocolates, CD player, cable TV including HBO, free high speed internet and NY Times. The lively central location was so accessible to everything New York, that I walked everywhere, at all hours. The lovely new marble bathroom and hot shower was always a welcome nearby respite. As well as a hotel laptop and printer that was available in the hotel library. I repeatedly used it for quick email or tourist info.

Hated it!

Staff was mediocre. The rates I reserved was not the same when we checked out.

Tiny room, but lovely bathroom

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here April 7-11, 2004. Overall, the hotel was fine. The bedroom was very small and cramped, but the bathroom was huge by NY standards. The floor to ceiling marble was lovely. Everything was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Besides the room being small, my only other complaint would be the temperature. It was centrally controlled so we couldn't do anything with the heat. Opening the window didn't really help; we were still very hot. However, the small touches provided by the hotel and its staff were nice (i.e., complimentary bottles of wine and water).

The staff helped me survive the Blackout of 2003

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had the misfortune of vising NYC during the Blackout of 2003. Within fifteen minutes of checking into the hotel, the power outage occured.
The staff couldn't have been more considerate, understanding, and helpful. The manager/owner pulled his car up outside the front door and played his radio so that we could find out what was going on. As it got dark, they provided us with fresh fruit and drinks. Our only light source was from the car parked on the sidewalk (again the managers car), shining it's headlights into the darkened lobby. With bedtime approaching, the bellhops and staff helped everyone to their rooms with the few candles and flashlights available. They were very patient with even the grumpiest of guests. The staff remained calm, cool and collected throughout the entire ordeal and remained so after things returned to normal. Many of the larger hotels actually turned their guests out during the ordeal and I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't stayed at the Iroquois. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Iroquois only so-so

The room was VERY small and our hotel window looked into neighboring buildings. Location was OK, but I feel, everything considered, that there are better values elsewhere.

Good Experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed in Aug., 2003. Everything was as good, or better, than expected.
Would recommend to others and stay there again. Excellent location (44th Street is relatively quiet and close to theatre district - but not too close) Courteous & friendly staff.

Great Location

We stayed over X-mas in 2003. I will confirm that the rooms were tiny but they were very clean. The service was good but we paid a little more than we would usually on tips etc... based on a previous a review.

We had a little child and they did their best to accommodate us in a boutique-style hotel. Overall no major complaints. A great place for a weekend getaway for a couple (if you get a deal <$250/night).

The hotel is situated and there is corner store close by with fresh fruit etc....walking distcance to Rockfellar and Times Square was a bonus.

Enjoyed our Stay

We enjoyed our stay very much. They always have their guests in mind and found the concierge very helpful.

Iroquois a disappointment-tiny room and rude staff

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our room was tiny for the price we paid. We have stayed in many other hotels in NYC for less money and have had much more space. We had one small roller suitcase which we didn't need help with, but the bellhop was determined to help us, and then when we gave him a $2 tip, we heard him mutter under his breath (but so we could hear),"two dollars!" in a disgusted voice. That set the tone for our stay very nicely. Nice bathroom (it was about half the size of the bedroom). Overall, you can definitely get better value elsewhere. We wouldn't stay there again.

Possiblt New Yorks worst!!!!

THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. No one had a clue what was going on. The rooms are extremely small and very noisy!!!!!!!!!!

Eleven Madison Park Eleven Madison Park is in the landmark art deco building with soaring 35-foot ceilings with a view of Madison Square Park. It offers great food!

The heart of the theater district Quiet location in the heart of the theater district

Great food & drink Try Becco on 355 West 46th Street for a great meal with loads of atmposhere - you may need to book. And for all the Brits who like their beer, try the House of Brews just a little further down 46th street for some really interesting American beers.
