Hotel was lovely. I went with 2 daughters ages 20 and 28. Well positioned to see the main sights. Food in hotel very expensive. Beds very comfortable and very high. Bathrooms needed remodeling, but overall very good size.

The Barclay is in a great location, but as I've read elsewhere, it's showing a little wear and tear. The bathroom smelled musty after each shower, and there were many cracks in the paint at the ceiling and floor. We were in a corner room over where the tour busses stop and it was quite noisy too. The lobby is lovely, though, and we never waited for an elevator even though the hotel was full. (You don't have to eat there, lots of breakfast places nearby.) This hotel was not exactly up to Intercontinental standards but overall, pretty good. Will stay again.

It is in a great position if you want to visit the Empire State building or are attending an event at Madison Square Garden.
The service and staff are very helpful indeed, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Barclay hotel is beautiful .Nice staff and the service is great also. The hotel is very clean which is extremely important. Our breakfast was very nice can't complain, plenty of everything. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that likes their comforts in life!

We enjoyed the stay at the InterContinental Barclay in New York. The location is perfect and close to shopping and theatre. Staff was helpful and made us feel special. The lobby is gorgeous.

Slightly Disappointing

I have to say, that having read all the wonderful review of the Barclay on TripAdvisor, I was somewhat disappointed with my stay. The hotel itself is well located and the bedroom satisfactory in size and comfort terms. However, the bathroom was very small (and our room was apparently upgraded) and despite the fact that 3 of us were sharing the room, not enough towels or toiletries were left for our use on any day during our 4 day trip, despite our speaking to Reception about the problem. While this might appear somewhat a trivial complaint, it became quite irritating to have to request that the same problem be resolved on a daily basis!
Also, do not use the hotel room telephones - they are an absolute ripoff with a charge of €16 levied for leaving a short voicemail message.

Got a great deal on the Intercontinental website for a hotel room of any sort in Manhattan. But I was very pleased (and surprised) when I checked in and got to my room. It looked newly refurbished with a comfortable bed, decent floor plan and a huge bathroom. The workout room was dead most of the time which was an added bonus. The location is good for anything you'd want to do as there is a subway stop within one block. My only complaint (a very small one all things considered) is that I could not get served in the bar. Two waiters hustled all around me serving others but after 10 minutes I gave up and went across the street to the W. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly if you can get the $149 rate.

My mom and I stayed at the Barclay October 12-17. The location is great, the service was impeccable and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful hotel! Absolutely beautiful-from the 1920's art deco lobby to the comfortable over-stuffed beds, we have no complaints. The staff were friendly and available anytime we needed them. One of the perks we really liked was the perfumerie/chemist located just off the lobby. We bought many gifts at incredible prices and they even wrapped the items and delivered them to our room! Now that's class. I've visited NYC many times and stayed in hotels more expensive than this one that didn't have the opulence and style of this great midtown east hotel. Highly recommended!

Big room, good service, good food, a wonderful and superb hotel close to everything, if it can be little closer to the subway...it will be perfect (is a mile tunnel to the subway from the hotel), I will stay there again.

I found this deal on hotwire, and was pleasantly surprised at the location and the beauty of this hotel. The hotel is a couple of clicks from grand central and 5th ave. Great location! The room was great and so were the beds! Very comfortable pillows. The staff was friendly. The only downside was at check-in. It took 1/2 hour to check in since there was only one person working the desk, and there was a long line! I would definately stay here again!!!!! A big plus is the New York Times waiting on your doornob in the morning!!!

My 2 daughters and I stayed at the InterContinental Barclay on September 26-28. When we arrived, the hotel was surrounded by police and secret service, and was that way all weekend. Evidently, the UN was having an event and VIP's were staying there. We were using free vouchers from our Priority Club account and were upgraded to a deluxe room. The room, on eighth floor, was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The halls are beautiful too and nice and wide. The location is good, we walked everywhere in Midtown and Broadway from our hotel. We didn't use the hotel restaurants, so I can't comment on that.
But I highly recommend this hotel for its beauty and comfort.

Early Check-in, What a bonus!

We purchased our room on Hotwire and were a bit worried about what we would get. But from the moment we arrived it was nothing less than outstanding! Even though we had bought the room on Hotwire, we were treated like any other guest.
We flew in on a red-eye and had planned on dropping our luggage off at the hotel in the morning and returning in the afternoon to check in. To our surprise, when we went to the front desk (at 8:00 a.m.) to ask about leaving our bags, they asked for our name and pulled up our reservation. He said our room was ready and that we could check in right now if we liked (at no extra charge). What a great surprise that was! It was just what we needed after being up all night.
Other plusses included a very comfortable mattress, plush towels and a clean room. The room also had climate controls (heat & A/C) that worked quite well. All of the staff that we dealt with were courteous.
The only downside would be the TV-based internet service provided in the room is difficult at best to navigate without a mouse. I recommend using the computers in the lobby if you need internet access and do not have a laptop. There is a fee for this.
This was listed as a 4 1/2 star hotel. I would highly suggest that if you are planning to stay in NYC and want something that is decent, don't go below this level or you might be disappointed.

When we checked into this hotel, we were convinced this was an example of New York City at its best!! The rooms are pristine (with double layers of sheets between the bed blankets for cleanliness!) and spacious!! A large bathroom and bar add to the ammenties. The porters carry your luggage to your room wearing white gloves, a NY Times is delivered every morning, and the desk staff are friendly and accommodating!When my adult daughter became ill on the trip, the housekeeping staff came in to clean the room and were extremely attentive to her, and she didn't even request it... They brought her tissues, fresh water, and ice chips. Now, that's a first class, caring hotel!! Absolutely Deluxe!!

Havana Central great cuban restaurant, very reasonably priced, on 46th b/w 5th and 6th
The View Restaurant if you would like to book a restaurant with a difference then, try The View which is on the 46th Floor of the Marriot Hotel on Times Square. The restaurant revolves every 72 minutes and the views are fantastic. The food is reasonably priced and they offer a set price buffet which is good value.
Subway & Buses buy a metro card, unlimited daily $7 or weekly $25. Good on city buses or subways. My daughter and I saved the $45 rate + tip and tolls on a taxi to JFK airport by taking one subway and the the airtrain for $5 each. It was a little work to walk to the subway with our bags but I felt it was worth the hassle to save big bucks and spent that money on a new video game for my kids instead.
