very friendly and accommodating hotel!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Le Marquis hotel in New York for one night in May 2004. I picked it because of the reviews on TripAdvisor and because it's about a 10-minute walking distance of Penn Station. The hotel was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We arrived in New York at 6:00 in the morning and were able to check into the hotel as soon as we arrived -- which was wonderful for us, because we were tired from an all-night flight, and sometimes hotels make you wait until the afternoon before you can check in. Since we could check in so early we got in a few extra hours of sleep and were thus able to enjoy the rest of our first day in New York. In addition, after we checked out, the hotel very kindly held our bags for us for four days while we traveled to New England, which was also very convenient for us so we didn't have to carry all our luggage with us. The room was relatively small but nicely decorated and super clean so the small size didn't bother us at all. The "waterfall" shower head mounted on the ceiling is heavenly and the best I've ever experienced in any hotel anywhere! Overall a very pleasant and accommodating hotel in a convenient location. I would stay here again.

Great Place to Stay!!

I have traveled to New York several times and I found that most of the hotels are really small so I wasn't expecting a whole lot. I needed to check in early because I was attending a conference and needed to get dressed coming right from the airport. They were really nice and let me check in early. I thought the room was decorated nicely but like I mentioned really small. I should have asked for a better view as there was really no light. The bathroom was nice and clean with a warm robe that they provide. The shower I must say was awesome and they Aveda products were a definate treat! Overall I would say that I would recommend this hotel. If you are a sushi lover don't forget to check out the sushi /seafood buffet right across the street! It was incredible!

Pretty Good

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at LeMarquis for a few days during the U.S. Open (tennis). Overall I thought it was pretty good. It was clean and quiet. I had no problems. The room was cleaned each day. The location was ideal, in that I could walk to the Grand Central to catch the train to the matches and also walk to Broadway. I had little interaction with the staff. The room was a little small but all the furnishings were relatively new. Overall it was quite comfortable. It was decorated in a hip sort of way.

Hotels online reservation system is a joke!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I am writing in response to a review that I just read. I found the hotel reservation manager to be very rude and unprofessional. I was given a quote for a junior suite on their online request form, only to be told that under no uncertain terms was I going to get the room at that rate. I don't understand the purpose of an online quote form if they don't honor their rates. Why would anyone want to spend their money in a hotel that doesn't appreciate their business. Patrons beware!

Great Hotel!!

from hubble
I stayed at Le Marquis for 4 nights in Jan 2003, and I have to say it was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was beautiful and clean if a little small and it was difficult to open the wardrobe as the bed was in the way, but the bathroom was great. It had a huge shower, lovely Aveda products and bath robes. It is in a great location just round the corner from the Empire State Building. We didn't eat breakfast as at $15 I thought it was a little steep but the Brooklyn Bagel Co a block up the road was great value. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Nice hotel, shame about the attitude

from Davina191
After a long flight, I checked in at Le Marquis and was told that my credit card would not be accepted (I have used this card on many trips overseas). The receptionist was extremely rude and told me she would not except the card. This was the only card I had (except for a few dollars) I am sure that the computers were not working as the card company explained I had sufficient credit. As they had my passport, they alllowed me to check into the room but it took two days for the system to finally except my card. Overall, I thought the rooms were small but really well designed with an excellent shower. I liked the hotel design but was not impressed by the staff attitude throughout my stay.

I loved my stay at Le Marquis! :)

from A TripAdvisor Member
I absolutely loved my stay at Le Marquis. I stayed at Le Marquis for 3 days by myself and was very pleased with the service. The staff was wonderful, polite and tentative to my needs. The rooms were SO, SO, SO cozy. Really, the beds were SO comfortable and warm and the room was so tidy and neat. The rooms are small, but if you want cozy comfort then this is the place for you. The bathroom, my goodness was so wonderful.
You get an array of free toiletries and the towels are luxurious, as are the robes behind the bathroom door. I really liked the bathroom!
Clean, clean, clean. Overall, the experience was extremely exhilarating. I was able to relax comfortably. I highly recommend Le Marquis!

t Miss Out!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed here in May 2003. We checked in late at night and were delighted to be greeted by someone to carry our luggage to our room. Although our room was quite small, it was very clean with wonderful linens and a bathroom that was so clean and delightful. The Aveda products were much appreciated after a long drive to the city. First class accomodations.
Wonderful chocolate at turndown. The staff are so cheerful, helpful and friendly. Much appreciated. Would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the city. I just wish our room had been a little bigger and easier to get around but the other amenities surely made up for the lack of space!

A gem!

Thanks to other reviews, I steered away from some hotels and chose this one. Great choice! Small, clean room, comfy bed with very nice linens, awesome bathroom with fabulous shower and Aveda toiletries. Reserve online and save!

Location, location, location!

We stayed at Le Marquis for several nights in June 2003. Room small but perfectly formed, bathroom excellent. Price very reasonable. Two outstanding features, the staff (thank you Bernadette for all) and the location. Right in the middle of downtown Manhattan only a short walk from numerous attractions. I would thoroughly recommend Le Marquis.

Top Local Tips for New York City

Loved this place Buy a 3 day pass for all the red double bus loops! You can just get off and on where you want and get to see so much of the city! I went to Harlem, The Bronx, Up town, Downtown, Soho and the Village. It is the best value! In the Bronx get out at Juniors and buy yourself a piece of cheese cake and stay for dinner.

subways... Do not be afraid to take the subway. They are clean and convenient!

Getting to the airport Make sure the hotel books a car from your journey to JFK - many taxi drivers won't take you as they don't want to charge the fixed fare.
