Overall a very good hotel for what you pay for and the location was fantastic. The staff were very pleasant and were very helpful. The actual room was lovely and very spacious. The only thing that I think could have done better and that is decor, this was a bit dull but was clean. The bathroom was fairly new looking and had a big mirror.

I would most definitely go back there again.

I can not get over how amazing the location was. I am a freelance photographer and went during the "blizzard of '06" in February. I knew it would be a good idea to take some photos in central park, so I set off on what I thought would be a long trip and realised I was there in less than 5 minutes ! The room was very good, apart from the bathroom which appeared to be very old and dirty. Most of the staff, especially the concierge was friendly and I definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a mix between luxury and budget.

I was really nervous about staying here based on other internet reviews I had read prior to travelling. It certainly wasn't the plaza but what do people expect from a holiday inn? I found the location to be excellent, you can walk to Time Square and central park in about 5 minutes, the area also seemed really safe. I had no problems with the staff and they arranged a taxi for us to the airport! My only problem was the price; we paid almost 400 dollars including tax per night which I felt was way too much for a budget hotel, it's a pity they try to rip off Christmas shoppers by almost trebling their prices!

Almost every reservation we made was wrong and seemed to get more fouled up with every supposed correction. The hotel staff were unpleasant (with one exception) to our exhausted incoming staff. It was a complete nightmare. The gift shop clerk was rude. The rooms were spacious, as one would expect from a Holiday Inn, and relatively clean. Decor was dull and somber. The toilet didn't work. Room service was very good. Location to our destination was good.

Clean, Convinient, and Roomy.

I couldn't believe the reviews of the other hotels in New York. It seemed as though you had to have top dollar to be able to stay in a clean hotel. I've searched and searched. My sis didn't recomend staying at some other hotels-she claims pictures are decieving. I would definitely recomend this hotel to anyone interested in staying in New York. The carpet is clean (vacumed everyday), large rooms, nothing old about this room and the bathrooms are all newly tiled. Hotels have to keep up with the standards of holiday inn, which is more than i can say for many privately owned hotels in New York. It is conviniently located in the middle of everything you want to see. Only streets away from Central Park (The good/clean side). Two blocks away you find stores like Hugo Boss, Diesel, Channel and many others that wouldn't risk putting their business in an unreputable part of town. Grocery store, pharmacy, subway, and eateries are all within a block radius. The hotel has a fairly large loby for an inn, with a fully equiped bar and banquet halls.-that goes to show it's size. I would definitely stay here again!!!

My friend and I stayed here last September and this was a nice and convenient place to stay! We only paid $140/night for a room which included 2 double beds. That's a great price considering the location, and midtown is great place to stay in. The rooms are huge, and you can easily fit 4 people in the room. Nice location within walking distance to everything in Midtown! Just a comparison -We've stayed in 8 various cities in Europe for vacation the past 4 years, and the hotels there can't compare to the size and comfortability of this hotel(and we've stayed in supposedly 4 stars hotels there, and they were more expensive)!
Staff at this hotel are friendly, people in NY are friendly also! Thouroughly enjoyed our stay in NY and will be back there again next year!

We stayed here once (and believe me, once was enough) for four nights and we could not wait to get out of the place. Someone warned me that New Yorkers are not as laid back as Floridians but my god, some of the staff at this place took arrogance to new heights.

When we checked in we'd been given the wrong room - we'd asked for a double room with a king bed and been given one with two queen beds and it was a good job we hadn't brought the cat, because we couldn't have swung it round. This is probably the first hotel room I had ever been in where I could touch all four walls at once with every limb. When we asked to change to the room we'd booked (and paid extra for!) I expected the receptionist to pull a revolver and shoot us at the very least judging by the look she gave.

And so it went on, downhill all the way from there - whether the staff mark an X against anyone's name who complains about anything, but the level of service in this establishment lacked anything remotely associated with manners. It was awful, don't go there!

I had a really good stay at the Holiday Inn. Receptionist and Concierge were friendly and efficient. The room we had was big and spacious (lots of room to store shopping!!!). Location was good got taxis to most places the fares were so reasonable! Don't miss the Morning Star across the road for breakfast sooooo nice! Overall Holiday Inn was a nice stay and worth the money!

I've stayed at one other hotel in NYC. The other hotel was much more expensive than this Holiday Inn. It had more moder fixtures, but was no where near the size of this Holiday Inn. The Holiday in is located on a nice residential street, and is within walking distance of restaurants, and shopping. This is not a fancy hotel, but it is roomy and comfortable.

I stayed in Tower B, 6th floor. Didn't know until we went to our rooms, via the elevator (where the info was posted), that remodeling was taking placeon the 1st thru 5th floors. When asked if construction would disturb us, the front desk assistant, responded that it would not. Needless to say, at approximately 8:45am, we heard drilling and hammering. Fortunately, we were checking out at noon. Also, there are only sheer curtains hung at the windows, which made me a little uncomfortable about dressing in the room, since the window faced a couple of buildings.

Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in October. 2003.He had to attend a function at another hotel which was booked. So we chose this hotel.

This is good location and a grat buy.

The room are large and clean. If you can stay in the new part of the hotel.

I would stay there again!

Good Value for the Dollar

Good choice if you're trying to keep room rate under $200 per night. I was in Tower B for 3 nights in early January for about $120 [er night.
As mentioned by everyone, rooms are large and comfortable. Furnishings were nice and clean. Bathrooms are nothing special, but not dirty either. Maid service was dependable and friendly. Nearest subway stop is 2 blocks away. Walking to Times Square takes anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes. Central Park is nearby. Many sites within walking distance if walking is your thing. Otherwise buses and subway are close by. Good choice for the cost conscience such as myself.

Big Rooms

I stayed for 10 nights here on a special deal, on my 2nd trip to Manhattan. The rooms are big, bigger than an average Manhattan hotel.
Service is fine, though Room Service have trouble with Australian accents! My room was not serviced for the first 2 days, but once I called to complain it was taken care of straight away. At the time I stayed, the hotel was used by Aer Lingus cabin crew as they seemed to book in each night. It is a busy hotel with European travellers. Not overly friendly, just standard and few complaints. Didnt have CNN when I stayed there, so I won't go again only for that reason.

Large Rooms, Great Price and Clean

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and never had a bad experience. The rooms are very large, especially by NYC standards and the price is a bargain. On my last visit, the staff went out of their way to find an even larger room for me (I was hosting a party). There are two towers to this property - Tower A and Tower B. Request a room in Tower A as the furniture is newer. I have two minor complaints.
First, although street sounds are minimal, and soundproofing between rooms is good, the same cannot be said of sound between the room and the halls. Secondly, the wait for an elevator, especially during checkout time, can seem like an eternity. If you have no luggage, it's much better to take the stairs. I would suggest eating at any of the reasonably priced restaurants on 9th Ave., south of West 57th Street.
Ninth Ave. is just around the corner.

Bad advice Despite what the (bell hop, or man in taxi box in foyer of Hotel) at the Hotel says about yellow taxis.Ignore his flat rate cars of $60 dollars to JFK and his nonsense of yellow cabs overcharging. Always get theYellow cabs

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING When you get to the 86th floor for the sake of $6 get the Toni the Cabbie walky talkies coz when yu are out on the observatory deck and stand in front of the numbers 1-7 for each direction you face and then press the number that corresponds with the card it is well worth it to know what you are looking at, it will point out the spot where the titanic should have docked, it will point out the statue of liberty, ellis island, central park, brooklyn bridge etc, trust me it is welll worth it, when r u going to be up there again? you may aswell do it right!!

Bus Tour If wanting to see New York purchase a bus tour. We paid £25 and got a 3 day pass. We toured uptown and downtown on seperate days and jumped on and off the bus where and when we wanted, We also did the evening tour to Brooklyn which was amazing to see the Manhattan skyline from across the river. You cannot get off on the night tour though. Well worth the money and the best way to get around this amazing city.
