The rooms were new, modern and well equipped for both business and leisure! The staff was non-existent and as cold as the streets of NY in winter anytime we needed assistance with anything.

Have stayed at Hilton Times Square on business trips over a period of about three years. I like the large, comfortable rooms and the king-sized beds. The location is also excellent (42nd St.), as are the security arrangements. Strongly recommended for business and leisure stays.

Great views and a good location, the Hilton Times Square offered a comfortable place to stay in the heart of New York City's Times Square. The room was clean, spacious and provided an excellent view of the city. Atmosphere at the hotel was nice with a contemporary, upscale feel. Desk staff was not as helpful as I have experienced at other hotels in the past – that is the only reason I do not give the absolute best rating.

Very good

from A TripAdvisor Member
I thought The Hilton was very good. I was there on Business for the whole week, and I have no complaints. The room rate was $179.00, Can't beat that either.

t fault it!

My husband and I decided to stay at the hotel on Honeymoon after reading many great reviews on this site and we were not disappointed!

The hotel is slap-bang in the heart of NYC and we walked most places as they were easily accessible. It is literally a couple of minutes from the centre of Times Square and there is plenty going on 42nd street where the hotel is located.

There is an adjoining door to a bar / restaurant Applebees, where it is 99c for a beer until 7 pm weekdays and the food is reasonable too. Red Lobster around the corner is great too, but give B.B.King's Blues Club a miss - although there is a great atmosphere, it was the most expensive yet worst food and service we had. The Creamery Ice Cream Parlour across the road was fabulous!

Back to the hotel, we had a 35th floor room which had great views. The room was huge with a huge bed and the housekeeping was great.

An excellent honeymoon due partly to this excellent hotel!

t say enough nice things about this hotel

from pinkprincess73
We stayed at the Hilton Times Square from 26 November for 8 nights (through Thanksgiving) and couldn't say enough nice things about the hotel. The location is fantastic, right on 42nd street and only steps from Broadway theatres, Times Square and the subway. Our room on the 33rd floor was spacious (with two double beds) and a fantastic view of the Empire State Building. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff and the service was outstanding. As a regular traveller for business, I am often disappointed with my hotel experiences but the Hilton Times Square met and exceeded our expectations in every respect.
We hope to return again for Thanksgiving in 2004!

Absolutely Fabulous!

from Sparkler73
My stay here was from 27 December through to 31 December 2003. Arriving at the back entrance on 41st Street at 11pm was a bit off-putting but as soon as I entered the lobby, then took the extremely fast lift 23 floors to the reception, all my fears dissapeared. My room was spacious, clean, had everything you could want or need (including iron and iron-board for the girls)! Staff were helpful and courteous, room service was fab. The location of the hotel is spectacular, right on 42nd Street with a 30 second stroll to Broadway and the subway so your never far from anything. Although the area remains busy until the early hours I never heard a sound from my 39th floor room, and as a first time visitor to New York travelling on my own I've never felt safer.
Couldn't recommend this hotel hightly enought and can't wait to go back!!

Great but not excellent

from kayelly
We stayed here for 2 nights from the 13th of December, and the location of this hotel really is fabulous, as are the rooms! The rooms really are the biggest I've seen, particularly in the heart of the city, and we were lucky enough to have a room with corner windows, which let in lots of light and meant we had a wonderful view of both the Hudson and Times Square. Lots of storage and the bathroom was also lovely.
However, what I did feel let this hotel down was the restaurant and bar facilities. Fair enough, when you go to New York, you're not likely to be eating and drinking in your hotel when there are so many other fabulous places to be, but when you've had a long transatlantic flight such as we did, you just really fancy some room service: I found their offerings quite limited. This was also typical of the buffet breakfast.
Seating in the lobby area was also on the minimal side, in addition to the bar area. However, this is a fabulous hotel, the staff on the front desk are extremely curteous and although you're right in the middle of everything, don't worry about the noise- it's not even an issue when staying here!

Oasis in Midtown

from gemsstock
We have stayed at the Hilton Times Square for three nights in December 2003 and have only the highest praise for it. The rooms are spacious compared to other New York hotels of the same category and the view from the room was just breathtaking. The service was very friendly and professional. Unfortunately we left a brand new sweater in the room when we departed and only realised when unpacking at home. Without any hope, I called the hotel and very friendly Brenda from Lost and Found immediately agreed to send the found item back. So all in all an oasis in the middle of the hustle of Times Square.

Great Thanksgiving Stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned from a stay here over the Thanksgiving holiday...4 nights. Very impressed with this hotel, wonderful location for the sights, spacious rooms, super staff. Considering that it's on busy 42nd St., this hotel is amazingly quiet. Security is excellent. If you want to be in the heart of things, I'd highly recommend the Hilton Times Square.

Sales Dept is AWFUL

from Ariktravel
We attempted to host a meeting at the Hilton Times Square. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. They changed our contracted rates, our sales rep changed almost daily and our meeting room rental fee kept going up. They originally tired to say the list price was $4000 per day for a room big enough for 50 people. We cancelled our space due to lack of communication and organization on the hotels part. The hotel has sent multiple bills for $13K in damages, however the meeting was held at their sister Hilton property. I left 6 messages for the general manager--it took him 3 weeks to call me back. The hotel is a nice property- -just make sure you have everything in writing....especially if you think about conducting a meeting here.

Loved the Hilton Times Square

from tiger62z
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel over the July 4th weekend. The hotel is amazing, very cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful, always attentive. Our room had a fantastic view over the lower city.
And we were able to watch fireworks played from 5 different locations through our large room window on July 4th evening. What a treat! And it also has a great location, convenient to everywhere in the city. After came back from sightseeing, we were able to refresh ourselves and change dress before went to the Broadway show. I'm so glad that I came across those hotel reviews at tripadvisor which helped me make the right choice. We will definitely come back to this place on our next trip to New York.

Perfect stay

Look closely, or you might miss the tiny entranceway on 42nd. Situated right next to the Wax Museum, AMC Theatres and McDonalds, you'll still feel safe staying here even if the surrounding streets at night seem a little hostile. There are two security checkpoints, and the rooms don't even begin until the 23rd floor on up, so you'll be far from the noise below. Front desk staff, bell staff, and housekeeping were all efficient and courteous. Rooms are exceptionally clean and well stocked, and the turn-down service includes bottles of water, TV guide, and chocolates. Loved the pre-ordered breakfast option as well, the free USA Today and Sunday NY Times, the bounty of good cable channels, and the usage of a robe. While the furniture was a little scuffed in spots (emphasize little), the decor is very bright and pleasant, the beds and pillows unbelievably comfortable, and the blast of cool air conditioning awaiting you a welcome reprieve from the sticky, stinky city air. Rooms were completely soundproof, something that was a little worrisome upon finding an adjoining door in the room. The 41st floor facing south had a wonderful view of the lower city and Empire State Building to the left. There are multiple entrances to the Times Square subway stop both at east and west sides of the block, and there are oodles of restaurants in close proximity (if you're the chain restaurant type, Applebee's is right outside the front door and there's a Red Lobster at the end of the block). The Hilton hotels are just the best and know what they're doing. I highly recommend this establishment.

Top Local Tips for New York City

Its a must Ruths Chris Steak house served me the BEST steak I have ever tasted - the side orders are huge

Using frequent-stay/miles for Hotels Value for the point is VERY good in NYC - Makes sense to use points rather than pay $$, which is not really the case everywhere.

NYC for less Check for web deals - travelzoo, hotwire, priceline (use betterbidding for strategies). Go to NYC off season to avoid huge crowds. Check out rush tickets and standing room tickets for broadway shows - Playbill website lists them.
