Embassy Suites is located in Lower Manhattan and ideally located for the business centre and within sight of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island. A few minutes walk from Battery Park and Wall Street, access to other parts of New York by public transport is very easy.

The suites are spacious, well equiped and give the feeling of being in one's own apartment in a hotel environment. Some have river views. The breakfast room and surrounding areas are of the highest standard, as is the choice of breakfast food - hot and cold buffet and servery with freshly cooked egg dishes and waffles.

Fast food and cinema complexes are to hand e.g. excellent Tex Mex. No good in house restaurant, but most of New York's restaurants can be reached easily by metro or cab in fairly quick time.

Service excellent but impersonal.

5 ladies stayed in the Embassy Suites in New York in January 2004. Hotel was perfect. Location is down near the ground zero site, in the middle of the financial district. Easy to get to other locations from hotel. Room spacious and really well laid out. Hotel general areas good. Excellent breakfast. Happy hour for guests most evenings. Would recommend it for anyone visiting NYC

Awesome place

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Embassy suites hotel mid September, with my 2 girlfriends, for a mom's mental health weekend. It was awesome. I usually stay in Midtown, so I was a little nervous about being so far away from the action. No Need! The area was very alive, clean, even residential. There was a park accross the street with kids playing soccer. I drove down on the West side highway, and it was right off that, so there was little city driving. The valet parking was steep, $45, but I didn't worry about the car until I was ready to leave. The hotel was great. While walking to our room, we saw a cruise ship leaving right out the atrium window. There was a lot of activity on the Hudson, that was fun to watch. The rooms were large and quite, except for the bathroom. It seemed as if the neighbors were in our room. We shut the door, and the problem was gone. The buffet breakfast was a great way to start the day. Very boutiful. The exercise facility was wonderful. There was even a steam room and a sauna. (My idea of happiness.) It was close to the chambers street subway, There used to be one closer, but it hasn't been reopened yet. When we returned from our shows on broadway, the area was still bustling, so we felt fine taking the subway! A great place. The only bad thing was that I left something behind, and it hasn't been found yet. I fear I won't ever get it back.A great hotel though!!

Had a wonderful visit

from havredegrace
Spent last weekend at the Embassy Suites with our 3 children, 9, 7 & 3 yrs old. The suite was larger than the other Embassy suites I have stayed in. the hotel is bright and welcoming. Bellman let our children ride on the luggage cart, friendly staff. We were able to check in as soon as we arrived, 4 hours early, with no problem, which was very nice. Had a view of ground zero from our room, the front of the hotel looks out onto the Hudson. The Battery Park Esplanade is lovely, many people walking, biking, etc... it is right out the front door. The hotel had many guests participating in a 5k race on Sun. morning, so the happy hour on Sat. evening was quite crowded, as was breakfast, but we were able to get a table by a window overlooking the river, and of course with 3 children, the free breakfast cannot be beat.!!! can walk to circle line ferry for ellis island and statue of liberty, also walked to subway..

Great place to stay

Really enjoyed our stay and the Embassy Suites. The FREE breakfast is certainly not your average free breakfast - lots and lots of chow, omelets, eggs to order, pancakes, fruit, pastry, somebody rated the coffee weak - not during the 5 days we stayed. Bus up town and past the subway is just around the corner. If you are going to use the bus and subway, spring for the $14 dollar a day pass and despite what the brochures tell you you can only transfer from subway to the bus and NOT vice versa for no charge - except if you are using the Day Pass - it really makes it easy and in the long run cheaper. The concierge staff were wonderful - they really have a lot of knowledge and are quick to find the answer if they don't. Staff was great - always friendly and when I found the stopper in the tub did not function it was fixed right away. The threaters in the building is great. The FREE drinks in the evening is wonderful - while they limit the concoctions to the simpler drinks (Dude Lebowski would be unhappy without his White Russians) and they don't serve Guinness except at the downstairs bar which isn't free. The water front is great for walking and you can see Ellis Island and the Statue of liberty from the front windows. If you want to rent a bike, take your own lock - they won't give you one at the bike rental places as they then assume the liability if they get stolen. It is pretty easy to learn the subway system (I was surprised) though we had to double back once when we didn't realize the train we were on skipped a number of intermediate stops. New York was wonderful - the people were nice as they could be (they are going to lose their reputation if they keep this up for long - or is their chutzpah just urban legend.) Stay at the Embassy Suites - very nice indeed.

Some problems

from luccasabbatical
The major pluses here were the spacious room and the view of the harbor. The room itself was nice, although I could hear people arguing in the evening, and the next morning I could also hear their shower running. The staff were quite friendly and courteous. The major problem with this hotel was the breakfast and drinks. It is true that the breakfast is made to order, but what is the point of made to order pancakes if they are served with little containers of Kraft's synthetic syrup? The pineapple was not fresh. The coffee was weak. Etc., etc. And the situation was not much better for drinks in the evening -- my husband's vodka and tonic was just fine, but my cosmopolitan was truly unpleasant. Just be warned that this hotel has its drawbacks before you book!

Goin to NYC ? Trust me, stay here!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Having visited NYC twice before ( 1st = marriage proposal, 2nd = U2 at Madison Square Gardens) I had already experienced much of the sublime along with some of the ridiculous that make this filmscape city so highly regarded and loved. On the hotel front, 'value' normally means paying horrendous rates to sleep in bog standard room and be surrounded by uptight business people or the upper tax bracket mob who'd complain if the front desk staff didn't greet them every day with a sickly inane grin. I'd stayed in tourist trap central (42nd street) and I'd stayed in 'boutique style' dump so needed to find some wracky style value for money! Well look no further people, this is it. Situated on the quiet banks of the Hudson River (next to the more laid back Financial District) and within touching distance of the bus, taxi, subway, water taxi systems this has to be a jewel in the embassy suites crown! You'll leave your roomy pristine suite of a morning to be greeted with sunshine pouring into the huge lobby atrium (14 odd floors high) and a panoramic view of the Hudson, sit yourself at a table and load yourself up for the day with FREE buffet brekkie with cooked to order omelettes. Other than starving yourself, this will save you alot of dosh. After a hard day covering this vast metropolis you will return to the same bar to be served FREE beer and cocktails by friendly waitresses from 5.30pm- 7.30pm! Remember, you are in Manhattan not Heaven ! Got kids in tow ? No problem, they'll have ample restaurants to choose for a burger & fries followed by a choice of movies on the multi-screen cinema which are all part of this stunning hotel complex so they won't even have to leave the building ! On a more sombre note, it is obviously worth mentioning that only 1 block across the road, is the gaping chasm of Ground Zero. Hopefully, this should not be a deterrant to staying, but a lasting memory of incomparable bravery in a city that experienced unbelievable horror and continues, as does this hotel, to rise up through the ashes !

First time in NYC and Loved IT!

Room to roam

from Brookeefillmore
Great room, meals, happy hour, staff. You can self park next to hotel for $22 for a 24 hour period. A bit far from the subway and not near most of NYC's attractions, but lots of taxies out front. Cost about $14 to go to midtown, $10 to Chinatown. Hotel is next to 16 screen movie house and a good bagel shop. You can see the WTC site from the rooms facing east... The health club was a bit messy but big. Best tip... get a haircut in one of the many shops in Chinatown...and do take the subway at least once. My kids loved the experience...

Very Nice Hotel

This was a wonderful hotel located right next to the Twin Towers site. The staff were courteous and very friendly. The doorman, Willie who assisted us upon arrival and departure is extremely helpful as well as a pleasure to speak with. He started our trip, and ended it with a pleasant hello, handshake, and spirited conversation. It was a pleasure to stay at such a great hotel. This hotel also was a critical site following the September 11th attacks. It was humbling, to be so near the WTC site, and an honor to stay in a hotel staffed with people who were so helpful following the attacks!

Great suite in Tribeca for a great price!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Location is a bit out of the heart of things, but that's what makes it such a great place. It's a safe area and it's quite. Minutes from everything, well appointed rooms, lots of space, great breakfast. Don't go for the Hudson view as there's a lot of construction at the moment, and the view's dodgy. Requested a downgrade to a regular suite though, which was not a problem. Staff was helpful, room was clean, price was great. Looking forward to going back on future theatre weekends.

16th Birthday Treat

Any parent that wonders where to take a teenager in New York City - THIS IS THE PLACE! Room to roam without leaving the facility, awesome movie theatres complete with neon lights on 6 levels, trusted security and hotel staff, fabulous view surrounded by parks and interesting places to take photos, and very very good restaurants. This complex allows teenagers (2 or more) the freedom to part from their parents for short periods of time while still experiencing NYC. Within walking distance for the entire family is Soho, Tribeca, and several parks and artistic areas which fascinated my teenager. We all loved the hotel and wish we had spent more time in this area instead of uptown NYC. Hotel staff was like family by the time we left.

Top Local Tips for New York City

dog park nearby if you travel with pets there is a fenced in dog park 1/2 block away from hotel.

Century 21 Discount designer store adjacent to Ground Zero. Huge reductions on designer jeans, bags etc that we pay over the odds for in the UK. Although the $1.95 rate did also help. Took the last 50 min. Ferry trip (5PM) out to Statue of Liberty as sun was setting (Dec 06). Statue amazing in the dark, also the Manhatten skyline as we returned.

Use your feet When we tried the taxis the driver didn't seem to know the location we wanted. He just dropped us off where he thought. The second one also took us to the wrong address.I think it's better to use your feet or stick to the metro.
