I was disappointed to find the staff at the Doubletree were friendly and welcoming to us only when we waiting in line to ask something. We always had to request the 'homemade cookies' that were suppose to welcome us everytime we enter the hotel. The 'playroom' was not at all impressive, since the few toys and games there were broken or missing parts. When I travel to New York City again with my three children, we won't stay at the Doubletree.

Stayed here in December 2003. Excellent and convenient location - right on Times Square - but very little (ie almost no) noise from traffic/passers by. In-room facilities also excellent - we had a separate living room with a fold-out sofa bed and an open plan kitchen area w/ microwave & fridge. Would certainly stay here again - the size of the suite alone made it worthwhile.

After recently staying at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square, I must say that I was very pleased with the experience. The hotel is in an impeccable location right in the center of Times Square's excitement. The hotel staff is very attentive and helpful and the hotel restaurant, Center Stage Cafe', serves decent food at reasonable prices. The hotel is in walking distance to Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and many other attractions. We payed $415 per night for a suite on the 33rd floor. I would highly recommend the hotel to both leisure and business travelers.

My partner and I stayed in the Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square from the 4-9 November 2003. I was booking the holiday as a surprise 'congratulations' present so was keen for it to be good, well, I would have liked very good. What we found was excellent!! The check-in was quick and smooth - (mmm - those cookies are soooo good!) - The room, on the 31st floor was fantastic. We had a superb view over Times Square - yet it was still very quiet. The room was big and spacious - enough even to house all of our shopping bags! housekeeping was excellent - all in all we both felt it could simply not be beaten. This was my fifth visit to NYC - for my sixth I will not even begin to look at other accomodation! You made our holiday great. Thank you

We spent 2 niights at the doubletee suites in time square. Suite was adequate size for me, wife and 2 samll children. Very clean and modern, friendly service. Would stay here again

Okay, the bad news: it's 11:45pm and I had forgotten to pack toothpaste. I called the front desk 45 minutes ago and still have not received a travel size packet up to my room. I called 20-minutes ago for an update and was accidentally hung up on. No call back, so I tried ago and was told (without an apology) that they were very busy and would get to me when they could. For $300/night, I don't think a small packet of toothpaste is too much to ask.
The good news: it's an excellent location (right in the heart of Times Square) and the suites are huge.

Our first trip to NYC, my husband and I stayed at Doubletree. The staff was excellent, the rooms spacious with separate living room/bedroom.
Bathroom enormous. VERY convenient to shows. Our view was excellent and the maid service is very friendly and helpful. Tidied our rooms and checked on us to make certain we had adequate supply of everything for our little "kitchen". Great place to stay in NYC.

Great Hotel

Just returned from a visit to the Doubletree Suites Times Square. An excellent choice for anyone who wants to stay in the Times Square vicinity. Great security, everyone must show their hotel key when entering the small ground floor entrance before going up into the hotel. Good sized suites for NYC, clean and very quiet given the busy area. Helpful staff. Just be aware this is Times Square, so be prepared for the crowds just outside the hotel door.

We stayed in the Times Square Doubletree after our Homewood Suite stay in Alexandria. Couldn't compete but was an o.k. place to stay. Room looked very tired and in need of refurbishing. Hard to believe they were both in Hilton family. Room was very adequate for 4 of us and certainly easy access to everywhere we wanted to go. Because of that convenience, I would go back for another visit.

Stayed in a suite w/ view (those facing Times Square are smaller w/o pull-out sofa). Fabulous view in a corner unit, would definitely do it again. Paid $170/night last week of May, first week of June. I thought this was a very good value for the area/view/season. Very cramped closet space, but the bathroom was fine. Little fridge was nice for snacks, but it was difficult getting plates/silverware. Service was ok.
Room was clean. I am not bothered by noise, but if you are a person who likes to sleep in, this may be a problem as there are street performers (musicians) outside in the mornings that the TKTS booth is open. I want to stay in this room over New Year's but it is running $1000/night!

Top Local Tips for New York City
To see as many places as possible if you have little time? Get a 48 hour ticket for the Gray Line Tourist 'hop on/hop off' bus. You get around NY uptown & downtown, can get off and visit the sights, get back on the next bus as many times as you want in the 2 days. The night time trip is really good but make sure to wrap up warmly, plus you have the services of a courier on each bus which can be interesting & informative, although the constant reminders about tipping can get a bit annoying.
Winter in NYC If you are a first time visitor, please understand that in winter....is REALLY, REALLY cold in NYC. The streets are like wind tunnels because of the buildings! Forget trying to look chic or "cool" if you are going to be walking around, especially at night. Wear the hats, scarves, gloves and warm boots if you want to enjoy all the city sights! You'll be very thankful you did!
Madame Tussauds Madame Tussauds is a wax museum featuring wax, lifelike figures of famous persons. Go here during winter months to avoid crowds. Bring a camera! Security is low and we were disappointed to find guests vandalizing figures (i.e. slapping, removing clothing, language, etc.) It is shorter than expected, so don't go to New York city just for this museum, because it is about an hour and a half walk through. It is located right in times square. Good for teens, young adults, adults, and seniors. Children most likely will become bored. Worth stopping by.

On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and the staff were all very helpful and courteous. Our room on the 11th floor was compact but not small, it had everything we needed, although perhaps tea and coffee facilities would have been an added bonus.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the towels were always clean and fresh, bed linen and towels replaced daily.
We used the concierge facility whilst trying to track down some theatre tickets we have ordered to be delivered to the hotel and Danny on the desk was most helpful, he did all the chasing around for us and we got our tickets.
We didn't book the breakfast with the hotel, quite expensive, not very good reviews and also ties you down to getting up at set times....we found plenty of places to get breakfast very close by and all at very reasonable prices, about $10 would get you both a cooked breakfast and a coffee each.
The hotel is located in a pretty good spot, 10 min walk from Central park, Rockefeller centre, trump towers, tiffanys. Broadway and Times Square are about 20 min walk away.
We had a great time in New York, packed in plenty of site seeing, shopping and generally just soaking up the atmosphere and chilling out. If your thinking about going do it, you wont regret it and the Doubletree does make a very good hotel to base yourself.
