Good Location, Poor Facilities

Location is good. Spa bath tub is good after hours of walking. Room very tiny, bathroom window no curtain, bathroom door cannot be locked, window look like never clean before,no soap and toilet paper until next day, TV remote control no battery, iron board is outside the room, lighting too dim, need to pay $5 to use 1 of the 2 internet PC in lobby for 30 min, transport to airport arrangement cost $10 more than if you arrange yourself. If you are budget traveller, a good choice. If you are with family or prefer bigger room, don't book this hotel.

After readin the reviews I was a little worried. It might not be the cleanest place to go, but the staff was friendly and reliable. The location was good, no problem to get around. I did enjoy my stay and I would probably return.

It was the best hotel I have ever stayed in. the staff were reliable and amazing in bed. hey hey hey. It's in a great location and just so many places near by to visit.

I met sooooo many famous people, i cant start to name them all. The rooms were fantastic. Yea the hotel had its downfalls but when u have stopped in as many hotels as what i have u will understand. The staff were fantasticly brilliant, reliable and kind. there is so many places near by to visit, a great atmosphere and the shopping was superb. Top marks. It was sure so QUALITY.

Checking in was a free-for-all, where people were pushing in front of us to get to the reception desk. The room was small and had definitely seen better days. The bedlinen and towels smelled of stale cigarette smoke and there was only one pillow on the bed. We had to ask for another pillow three times before it arrived and it too had a cigarette odour. The corridor outside our room really smelled of gas, and we found that to be quite worrying! All in all, we would never return to this hotel, despite it's good location. We felt like cattle being herded in and out and the hotel itself was worn and dirty. Don't stay here!

I stayed in your hotel for one week in April 2004. I am really impressed by the quality of your hotel. Your hotel's location is excellent, rooms were very neat & clean. Staff was professional, courtious and very helpful. Quality Hotel On Broadway made my New York's visit a wonderful and unforgetable adventure.

Where do I start...? This Hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in. I had to request towels for the room as only one bath towel was provided. The Bathroom in the room flooded. We moved to another room. Two nights later there was a mouse in the new room, which I killed in the bathroom and placed on the reception counter in a bag. The staff were ignorant and did not show any sign of concern for what happened. I checked out after the mouse incident and went to a Comfort Inn. Avoid this Hotel at all costs. It's a dump. I'd give it a no star rating. I'd rather sleep in the alleyways of Harlem than to spend another vacation in this Hotel. Under existing management it can only devolve to the status of brothel. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

It's an old building, very charming and it has a great location, mid NYC. The best thing is that you have a subway station just crossing the street. There's also a Drugstore, a Mc Donalds and a Subway... Very nice and quiet neighborhood. The rooms are different. If you are in the third floor, you will have cockroaches!I believe I was lucky, because my room was in the 12th and it was really clean without bugs... but the bathroom was terrible... The bathroom door was broken and it really smelled bad.
I think this is a good choice if you are out of budget, and also NYC is the city that never sleeps!!! So if you are planning to see all the city, day and night, this is a good place just for arrive and sleep... and nothing else! (Don't sleep more than 8 hours, remember there are cockroaches!!!)

My boyfriend and I went to NYC on January 8th 2004 for my birthday and we stayed at the Quality Hotel. The staff was quiet, but helpful, the interior when we walked in was very nice and clean. the elevator is very very small. the hallways are also pretty tight, so if you have large bags you may have to make a trip sideways to your room. when we entered our room we were very pleased and surprised. the bed was perfectly made, the sheets were clean, the coffee maker was set up with a pack of coffee on top for us. the bathroom was clean (but towels weren't big enough to dry off with) and bring conditioner because there wasn't any in my room. the bed was comfortable and big. our room was a good size. the television was hidden away in a very nice wooden dresser/entertainment center. .good sized tv, good reception. we also had a desk that was nice and a chair (the chair was comfortable but dusty) we had a refrigerator and an alarm clock, and also an iron, ironing board and a hairdryer. we were very pleased with our stay, and we only paid $71.95 for the night (thurs-fri) not including tax and fees. when we got to the counter to check out, the woman asked us if we had used the safe in our room and we said no... so she didn't charge us the daily fee. we had a wonderful time in new york and at the quality hotel and we will go there again... P.S. my room # was 907, so if you want a safe room (size-wise) and with refrigerator(free) ask for that room. great value.

Due to the terrible weather the East Coast experienced this past weekend on Dec. 5-7, I was unable to fly in on Friday as scheduled. The hotel staff were friendly and cooperative when I asked to waive the Friday night fee of $160. The hallways are narrow, it looks quite old due to normal wear and tear, elevators are slow, cramped, & need to be renovated, but the bed was surprsingly comfortable and the bathroom was surprisingly CLEAN- sufficient for sleeping in. Showerhead had good water pressure and warm temperature, no leaks at all. However, the room was supposed to be a nonsmoking room- but when I first walked in, it *REEKED* of cigarette smoke, which made me CHOKE and GAG!!! All they did was hide the ash tray into the desk's drawer. It was relatively quiet, so I actually got some shut eye. They gave us fresh towels daily and made the bed up nicely. It was adequately sized for a double bed room, one of the lamps didnt work though, but it did have a ironing board and an iron- which as a good thing, took me by surprise. Be aware when you check out though, they charge you a safe charge of $1.08 for each day you spend there. If I didn't look over the bill, my boyfriend would have paid the fee of $2.16 (we stayed two days Saturday and Sunday)- even though we didn't touch the safe. Across the street from subway- which is very close- made traveling very easy and convenient.

The first night the heater (that's attached to the wall) wasn't on, which wasn't a problem for us at all... the second day, the housekeeping lady or someone else must have turned it on for us- that was very nice. The Japanese restaurant across the street from the front door, Obento, is relatively inexpensive and good. They also have a desk next to the front desk where you can make reservations for a taxi. They charged my bf $35, but the taxi that came wasn't one of those yellow and black ones. It was a relatively comfortable leather seat Lincoln Towncar, I think... not sure. So if you don't mind spending that kinda money, take advantage of the service available at that desk.

The room we had was dirty,smelly,and the bath leaked all over the floor.We swapped rooms but it was smaller only the shower was better.
The luggage handlers were great but thats all,i wouldnt let my cat sleep there.

The staff on duty when we checked in was pleasant, and the room, although small, seemed adequate - until we discovered dirty sheets as we're getting into bed at 4am. Other room problems: a dirty coffee pot, cockroaches in the bathroom, multiple non-functioning electrical outlets, and what appeared to be pubic hair on supposedly clean towels.
The security lock on the door was broken. There was no functioning ice machine on our floor, nor the floor above or below. After check-in, the front desk seemed to be understaffed, unpleasant, and frequently did not answer the phone. They were not helpful with arranging transportation. The bed was comfortable, and the location is good, but find another place with clean sheets, and electricity.

One member of our party was very disappointed with the hotel but three of us found it adequate. It was clean and had the towels changed every day but it could certainly use a new coat of paint! In other words it was a bit shabby. As all we wanted to do there was sleep it was O.K.
The lifts were slow but at least they worked. Luckily the subway and Starbucks were just around the corner so the centre of New York was only minutes away. For a low cost visit to the Big Apple it was fine and I would probably stay there again. Doesn't look like the photo on the web-site.

Great position, economical, comfortable

I have just returned from a US trip (business and holiday). I spent 7 days in New York staying at the Quality Hotel on Broadway (in Manhattan - 94th St, between Broadway and Amsterdam). Excellent location - 2 delis just across the street, very close to a subway station, heaps of nice restaurants, diners, takeaways, etc. in Amsterdam and Broadway, a couple of blocks from the top end of Central Park. The hotel is old-ish but comfortable. My room had a fridge and air con. and was roomy and clean. Front desk people were friendly and helpful. By New York standards, the rates were reasonable - I would stay there again, and New York is definitely a place you need to go back to!

The hotel was the worst hotel I ever stayed in, the paint was peeling from the walls, curtains had big stains. I had to sleep in my clothes. Don't go there! I booked through priceline.
No Quality at the Quality Hotel

There was nothing quality about the Quality Hotel Broadway. On arrival the first thing was the smell of unclean and the tatty appearance. But never mind I was there to do the marathon. There were men sat about drinking beer from cans which was a little off putting. The staff appeared bored and irritated by my presence. I had to climb over a beer drinking man who was on the floor propped up against the wall in the hall way smoking, who happened to be outside my room. On entering the room it smelt stale and unclean and the abstract pattern on the duvet was not a pattern, but was in fact hundreds of cigerette burns. There was no security as the lock had been busted off the door and was not repaired. on returning to reception with my obvious concerns the only question asked, or should I say stated was that I would have a full nights room cost removed from my card whether I liked it or not. After leaving the hotel I thought I should have a cancellation referrence number to confirm the cancellation of the further four nights I had been booked there, only to have the receptionist confirm they were taking the money they required and then hung up on me. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, it was also not a cheap one but was quite costley. I have taken the trouble to write this review so you dont get ripped off so please take head.

We went to the quality inn during august 2003. It was extrememly humid and hot and their air conditioning was broken. Elevators are so small that my closet in my hotel room was bigger. We had requested 1 bed, they gave us two. Room is EXTREMELY small, we barely had room to walk.
It was difficult to get tv channels, bathroom leaked, hotel staff rude and discourteous. While this hotel may seem like a bargain, go somewhere else! It's not worth it, even if you are trying to pinch a few pennies!

Ok, it's not the Ritz, but for the money it's hard to beat. The building itself is quirky, with narrow halls and odd-shaped (in some cases) rooms. It was clean and quiet, and the staff was helpful and friendly. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. Lighting not the best, but we wern't in NYC to read anyway. Use the safes installed in each room...you'll get charged for them. The location is great. There's a subway stop a hundred feet from the front door, and it services lines 1,2,3 & 9, which gets you up and down Manhattan with a minimum of effort. If you run or walk for exercise, you're close to both Central Park and the park along the Hudson River (forget name), and the neighborhoods in between appeared safe to us. Three close eateries we recommend: Key West around the corner on Broadway for breakfast, lunch or supper, inxpensive and good. Strand Diner two blocks north on 96th, great breakfasts and lunches, and Carmines, a noisy, huge Italian restaurant a couple of blocks south. Good (but not the best in NYC) food and friendly staff.

Be prepared for a wait! Our experience with US immigration/Customs at JFK upon our arrival was awful. The staff and officers were courteous and polite but were too few in view of the amount of travellers waiting to be processed. We had almost an hour and a half in a line to get processed. When we wee eventually dealt with we found our bags lying on the ground next to a deserted carousel! NOT a good first impression New York!To be fair, the rest of our trip was brilliant!
NY Airport Service Outside baggage claim at LaGuardia you'll see a sign for the NY Airport Service bus which will take you into Manhattan. This is a great deal at only $12 if you're a solo traveller and have plenty of time. If there's three or more people in your party, though, a taxi is actually going to be cheaper than this bus. (The M60 bus is still the best deal though!).
