This hotel was superior to all other hotels in New york i have stayed at. The service was delightful, the rooms were wonderfully furnished, and it was close to all the best attractions in the city. I am an exspensive shopper, and it was relatively close to all the designer stores and boutiques.

Hotel staff was friendly and efficient.
The room had good light, windows.
The hotel was clean, quiet -- especially for the location and time of year.

I would stay there again.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan Hotel

Good value at the Crowne Plaza

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel for three nights early February. Got a great deal on a booking thru Expedia ($170 for a Deluxe room). Room was big, very clean and with a great view: I had asked to be put on a high floor, and they arranged a room on the 26th floor with a great view of Broadway.Interior of the room was modern and new, with Internet access, video games, on-demand movies etcetera. Only downside I found was that some of the staff (bellboy, luggage storage clerk) were not exactly friendly or helpful - even for NYC standards... Nevertheless, would definitely stay at this hotel again!

The location makes it worthwhile

from A TripAdvisor Member
While the room was very small, and did appear a bit dingy, it was not dirty or unpleasant. The view of times square was amazing and the location is perfect if you are taking in a Broadway show. I recommend this hotel highly if you want a great location but not if you want all the frills of a luxury hotel.

Considering the Times Square Crowne Plaza? Look elsewhere. . .

from A TripAdvisor Member
In all my visits to NYC, this hotel was the worst I have ever stayed with. Arriving late in the evening, they gave away all the rooms with Internet access, even though they advertise the entire hotel. Management was uncooperative, and could care less. The next day, had to move rooms, only to find the room dirty and dusty, and furnishings tired. Management still refused to talk to me, and was obvious they did not like that I purchased the lodging from "Hotwire". This was suppose to be a Crowne Plaza, I've been in may Holiday Inn's that far exceeded this place! Look elseware. . .

Unbelievably Bad Service at the Crowne Plaza Times Square

from A TripAdvisor Member
I commute to North Jersey every other week. This week I needed to take the train instead of drive so I decided to stay in Manhattan and take NJ Transit out to my office. The Crowne Plaza had some great rates available, $169 for a King Room or $199 for a Club Floor King. Both were AAA rates. I happily booked the $199 club room on Crowne Plaza's website. I went to check in lat night at 6pm. They tell me to come back in an hour. Fine. I left my luggage with the bellman and had some dinner. An hour later I return and the agent starts to get me a key. I asked if the room was a King on the Club (46th) floor like I booked. She responds it is not because my rate was too low for a room on that floor. I whipped out my printed confirmation. She then disappears for 15 minutes to discuss with her manager. The manager finally appears and tells me my rate was too low for the club floor. He says he can give me a room for that rate but there's no way he can grant me access to the lounge. I pointed out to him that I paid a $30 premium for lounge access. He stood firm telling me the reservation manager has told him the AAA rates do not qulaify for club access. I explain the website clearly states they do. He accuses me of lying at which point I almost blow my stack but instead pull out my laptop preparing to boot up to show him. To make a long story shorter, heinstead led me to the airline crew check-in desk where there was a PC with internet access. It took me 2 seconds to show him the obvious. I ended up with a room on 37 instead of 46 with a key for the lounge up on 46. This whole process took almost an hour.I travel almost every week and have NEVER been treated like this. I guess I'll send a note to the GM but I'm not expecting a response based on his management's handling of the situation yesterday.(By the way, the lounge on 46 is nice. Not great, but nice. King room on 37 is bigger than I expected but the bathroom is in need of a refurb and not exactly clean....)

The place to meet is right on with their motto

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel has a motto which is the place to meet. I agree. I met my current girlfriend on my last visit on October 10-12. I met her at the resteraunt called Samplings. Other than that it is a great hotel If you are visiting Time Square. The service is great. And I was checked in 5 minutes after I arrived. What else can you say about that!!!

Hotel was OK I Guess

from CruisingandDriving
Stayed here Saturday, November 8th. Room was a bit worn with a strange smell. The bathroom area was very small. The best quality was the view.
We had a corner room with wall to wall windows. Could see both the East and Hudson rivers. Beautiful -- but don't think I'd stay there again.

Very average

from MayG
First visit to New York slighlty dissappointed with the hotel, it being a 4 star. The location was excellent, the room and bathroom were on the small side, staff not overly friendly. The safe in our hotel room did not work and was reported within half an hour of our arrival, and then again the next day, no one showed to fix it and it was never fixed at any time in our 4 day stay. Would choose another hotel next time.

Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
Booked our trip through a package and selected the Crowne Plaza from their list. Was very pleasently surprised to find the room clean, comfortable and room. The bathroom was a little small. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay at the Crowne Plaza again.

Comfortable

from ellenM64
Book a room on the hotel's Club Floor. It comes with a good continental breakfast served in a quiet lounge area on the 46th floor -- you'll appreciate quiet after you've been hanging out on Times Square. The hotel staff isn't particularly friendly but the room was clean. We slept well because on the 44th floor it's hard to hear any street noise. The bathroom was fine except that the hairdryer didn't work.
Whatever you do don't eat at Roxy's, a deli very close to the hotel on Broadway, it's outrageously expensive.

Very Good Hotel

from davsyd
We stayed here for 10 days early Oct. I must say the location was even better then I thought. You step outside and you are in Times Square.
Upon arrival I asked for a room not near the elevators and a room overlooking Times Square and the friendly girl on reception gladly gave us that without a hassle. The rooms were fine, not like a Vegas Hotel but they were clean and just your typical nice hotel room.

The only problem we had started about our 3rd day there, the weather suddenly got cooler so they switch the air-conditioning off in your room. The room became very hot and humid, even though it was quite cool outside. What didn't help was that our window was broken and we could not open it on one side, so we were getting no air. Maintenance fixed the window but it opened about 3 inches from the bottom, so forgot about the air. But apart from this problem the hotel was extremely good. The buffet breakfast is a bit pricey for what you get, I would recommend going to a deli or cafe and getting a decent breakkie for about $3. If you are planning a visit to New York this hotel is perfect, but not if you suffer from humidity!

Phototrek tour It was a wonderful tour to have someone guide you around the city and to capture your tour with pictures. Mark is a wonderful tour guide and took some great pictures and we had our pictures 2 hours after the tour was over. It was great!!

Also, for shopping purposes, hire a car and drive to Woodbury Common Premium Outlet Centre. Loads of designer stuff at dirt cheap prices.
