Great location; Excellent service

Great location with subway on corner; 24 hour Duane Reade next door; Excellent service, concierge, doormen, desk...all very pleasant and helpful. Room on 20th floor...large but closet space a bit small. Free internet connection if you bring your laptop...if not, can use internet through tv. Rooms facing 3rd ave nue can be noisy.

Spent a night at this hotel during President's week. Since it was a free night on points I really can't complain much. However it was not up to marriott-even Courtyard standards.
Check in went smoothly although the lobby was drabby looking. Actually the entire hotel can benefit from a major renovation. We were on the 16th floor. The room was clean but plain and unattractive. The beds were low and not very comfortable.
The valet parking costs $41 and you need to request your car 30 minutes in advance.
Good things- Location was very good. We walked 6 long blocks to see hairspray (great show). We walked 5 short blocks to Seredipities and 5 blocks or so to NBC studios.
Staff was friendly.
Bottom line-If you want a plain. clean and fairly priced midtown eastside hotel-then the Courtyard is fine. If you want something more- choose The Marquis or the Hiltons, and Sheratons for a few dollars more.

This was a great choice - it was rather inexpensive for NYC and it was clean, comfortable and in a great location. My sister and I stayed here for 2 nights before Christmas - and we were able to walk everywhere - Macy's, Times Square, Rockefeller Center etc. The staff suggested we eat close to the hotel as it was not as touristy and therefore cheaper and not as frantic. We had great meals and great drinks at the various establishments close by (a Mexian restaurant, Irish pubs, and even an odd Karayoke/Italian place). Everything had a nice "neigborhood" feel. The only snag was that the parking is valet and they park the cars in a garage several blocks away, and we ended up having to wait over an hour for our car. But, they offered to credit us one day of parking and apologised many times. Overall, I would say this is a great find and I will stay there again.

I stayed here for one Saturday night in January 2005 during a theater trip. I liked everything about the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The staff was exceptionally friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet was minimal but a good bargain. My only disappointment was the bar/lounge closes at 10 p.m. I like to have a drink after the theater.

Stellar service under extraordinary circumstances

I agree with other reviewers--great location, proximity to subway, shopping, room size/amenities, but most of all staff. We stayed here in August 2003, checking in only minutes before the big blackout. The staff was PHENOMENAL during the whole adventure--grace under pressure, friendly and reassuring, smiling and joking, though many had been working well past their original shift. They used the in-room intercoms to keep us informed early on, when no one was sure what was going on. A whiteboard in the lobby kept up with what areas of Manhattan had power, water, etc. Pitchers of ice water in the lobby, glo sticks when we got back to the hotel around nightfall, breakfast as best they could the next morning. Best of all, backup power (?) meant room keys worked and one elevator (manually). So we were allowed back up to our room the first night. Yes it was hot, but in the days ahead I heard of guests at other (MUCH more expensive) hotels having to sleep on the sidewalk. I would definitely stay here again!
Not Bad, but could have been better for the money

My 14 year old daughter and I and my dear friend and her daughter just returned from NYC. We paid, including taxes over $300.00 to stay here for one night. It was one of the lower cost hotels that had at least a 3 star rating. It was in a pretty good location. For $300 buckaroonies...we had no sheets or blankets for the sofa bed and had to call down to housekeeping for them. It took a couple trips for them to get them to us. We also asked for pillows. Then we noticed when hopping into bed, that there was no blanket under one of the comforters on one of the double beds. So, we had to call again. There was no hair dryer in the room and when I called housekeeping, they doubted me and tried arguing the point. They had to come and see for themselves that there was no hair dryer in the room. So, they did bring me one. The room was clean, only a little noise from the outside because we were 20 stories up. View wasn't the greatest. Shower was fine. Beds were as hard as a rock!!!! Pillows too. For $300, and the reputation that Marroit Hotels have, I think it could have been better. The restraunt was ok. $14.95 for Buffet breakfast. Waitress was overly nice. Scrambled eggs a little watery, but the cook is superb!!!

This is probably one of the cheapest Marriott Courtyards in New York and should not be looked down upon. The location of this hotel is great, only a brief walk to great sites and to the subway station. Around one corner is a police station, and at the other is a pharmacy/grocery store. This is an older hotel and our room was comfortable but did need updating. The staff is great and their attitude is pleasant and very helpful. There is a good restaurant on the 14th floor that services brunch (great).

My husband and I stayed there from September 17th for one night to attend a broadway show. It was in a good neigborhood and not too far from the main attractions. The staff were courteous and very helpful and the rooms were clean an nice. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to be close to the attractions but not in the heart.

The hotel location is convenient. Its a block from the subway station, within walking distance of Central Park & great restaurants. The front desk service is excellent, check in is prompt & efficient, no street noise, rooms are clean, maid service is excellent & best of all the rates are reasonable. I highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Courtyard from Sept 4 to Sept 6, 2004. We went to the yankees game on the 5th and they won by the way. This hotel is located in a great location near everything. The room was much better that we expected and was very clean. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent. Last of all the staff went out of their way to be helpfull and courtious to us. I recommend this hotel highly.
Top Local Tips for New York City
Staten Island Ferry If you want to see the Statue of Liberty but don't want to stand in a horrendous queue or pay the fee for going to the island, catch the Staten Island Ferry. Whilst you don't actually go to the SOL, you get great views of it and also great views of the city. And best of all, it's absolutely free! You can catch the ferry, it takes 25 minutes and then just get on the return ferry and come back. You also feel like a proper New Yorker!!
February February in a great time to travel to NYC. The rates tend to be lower. We booked this hotel 6 months in advance and got a great rate. The weather was not great while we were there, but it doesn't matter much if you are going to museums, shopping, or seeing shows. We had a great time.
Bargain The free ferry to Staten Island passing by the Statue of Liberty with marvellous views of Manhattan has to be the best bargain in New York
