I am always sad when I have to find another place to stay...I know this hotel and have had several good experiences there....I love the $99 specials and hope that they will have them again.... always a pleasure to come into the city and know exactly what you are getting and with this hotel it is a good deal and a great value....

t Be Fooled By The Name

I was very pleased with our stay at the Comfort Inn. Although, not my usual hotel of choice, this was quite a bargain. The rooms were large (by New York standards) and clean. The location was unbeatable: a subway stop right outside your door, Macy's 1/2 block away, the Empire State Building on the next block, and walking distance to another dozen sights. Throw in a complentary continental breakfast and an Irish Pub, it was truly a delightful experience. You could do a lot worse for a lot more in The Big Apple.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn Midtown during the Thanksgiving 2003 holiday. I'd never travelled to the New York area overnight before and was travelling with my mother; therefore, it was imparative to locate a decent and convenient hotel. I searched high and low at every hotel site attempting to find the best I could find at a reasonable rate and with availability. Of course every hotel ever reviewed has a bad review but when I read all of the reviews for this hotel, I felt that the overall comments weren't that bad. (And of course two people can stay at the same hotel at the same time and have two entirely different experiences or I could go to the same place twice and have two totally different experiences, but....)Anyway, we stayed there and it was excellent. We had the room with 2 twin beds which was larger than we expected. There was plenty of room to move around, nice and moderate bathroom and bedroom furniture. Our room was on one side of the hotel; therefore, we did not have the noisey elevator problems. The complementary continental breakfast was very nice along with the attendant that serviced it. The staff was quite helpful with turkey day dinner suggestions with connections so that we didn't have to wait in line, supplying coupons for local attractions, etc. It is an excellent location on 46th street and nice to be off the main street. Only had to walk to the end of our block to view the parade! Our experience was lovely and we plan to stay again this year with the hope and expectation that experience is just the same or better. For our experience, I think we got MORE than we paid for at $135/night with the room, service, location, and the breakfast. It is a 2-star hotel, what do you expect. But we were very pleasantly surprised. AND, yes, the one small, slow elevator took some patience as we once walked up to our 8th floor room!

great location, 100 bucks only about 50 yards from the epicenter of times square. Rooms are extremely clean, desk people very polite.
Stayed with a group, had 4 rooms for two nights, and everyone was very satisfied. When you reserve, ask for a room ending in 1,2 or 3... like room 802 for example...they tend to be bigger rooms. Join comfort inn membership club, free and quick to do at the Comfort Inn website. You then get 10% off your room and you get a room upgrade for free. One minor negative, elevator is slowwwwww!, but not a major inconvenience.
Enjoy. I will def. stay there again vs paying nearly 2x as much across the street at the larger hotels. this place is a Gem!

Good and Bad

I have both good things and bad things to say about this hotel. Some of the good sides are...
1. Excellent location, extremely convenient 2. Cute and Clean 3. Good price 4. Offer breackfast with good capcino 5. Workers are not mean like normal NYkers
Some of the bad things are...
1. So NOISY in the hotel. Noise is not from outside but from inside.
Every door of the rooms gets slammed throughout the day, some doves come and stay at the window every morning around 7am and keep making lots of noises, The church next to the hotel has thier bell ring every 30 min. in the morning, people talk loudly in the very tiny hallway.
2. NO BATH TUB to bathe. we thought this woldn't be a problem, but you'll most likely want to take a bath after much walking, just to get rid of some fatigue.
3. Elevator is pretty slow and not convenient 4. Some workers are not helpful. A couple next to our room was having a terrible fight , with screaming, yelling and crying, for 3 hours from 1am. We called the front desk, but the guy did't do anything. We were so sleepless besides all other noises.
If you decide to use this hotel, make sure to go to bed after 12 pm and wake up by 7am to avoid all the noises. Also, ask the front desk to change the room if you get one next to the elevator because the room is much smaller and the bed is right next to the door.
This hotel is not terrible, but we will not use it again because we want to be able to realx when we come back to a hotel.

You Get What you Pay For

After reading all of the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor for this hotel, I made reservations to stay there the weekend after Christmas. Upon arriving my wife and I were sorely disappointed by the size and quality of the rooms. The room was barely big enough to hold the queen bed and the bathroom was a sink and a tub. In addition the room seemed tired and worn.Worst of all, the elevator (one only) was breaking down and my wife (needing a cane) had to climb four flights of stairs. When discussed with hotel management, they stated "Sorry, but live with it." As this was unacceptable, we had to move to another hotel.We should have known that, for the rates advertised and the hotel's location near Times Square, that we would be getting this type of room and ambiance but I did not get that feeling from reading the other reviews here. So, if you are looking only for location and a small room, go for it but be ready to accept the downside to the hotel.

Super place. I felt safe, the location was great, the rooms were clean and nice. The staff was exceptional !! The best $ rate I could find. My first trip to New York and the people at the hotel helped make it a wonderful experience.

Stayed at the comfort inn from 12/19 to 12/20 for 125.00, after reading other reviews on this site. I have nothing but good things to say. The staff was very helpful, Giovanni was very pleasant and informative during check in. The room was very clean and well maintained. This place was right in the heart of Times Square. I will not hesitate to stay again or recommend it to all budget minded travellers to NYC

After reading reviews on many websites, we decided to stay at the Comfort Inn Midtown, the weekend of November 6-10. The hotel was everything we expected and much more. The location is great and the service is wonderful. They also allowed us to have late check out (2pm).
After traveling to NYC many times before, this is now our number one pick for hotels. It's reasonable price, excellent location and friendly staff make it a great choice.
You can't go wrong.

After much research we selected the Comfort Inn Midtown and we were not disappointed. The rooms were very clean and the bathroom as spacious as your home bath. The marble floors were heated which was nice on cold mornings. This is a small hotel which to me is a feature..easy access to your room, no crowded lobby, individual attention from the front desk when you need it....just a few steps from the outside of your hotel to your room. Believe me after walking all over NYC you don't want to have to walk another block just to get to your room. The continental breakfast included in their rate was quite adequate. Very few hotels offer this in NYC and it is a nice feature to be able to grab a cup of coffee and a fresh pastry and hit the streets! Before coming to New York my second choice for a hotel was the Westin Times Square, so when I arrived I did check it out and I know I made the right decision selecting the Comfort Inn. The Westin is located in a very congested area and not easily accessible....The Comfort Inn is maybe a 1/2 block from Times Square - yet it is remarkably quiet and peaceful - which is very soothing after a long day of noise in NYC. I highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely stay there again.
A Great Choice

This is an excellent choice for New York City. Stayed here on marathon weekend at less than half the price elsewhere in town. The room was very clean. The was staff extremely friendly and helpful. You can walk anywhere from the location. I would recommend this hotel to friends, family and even in-laws without worrying about how they would find the accommodations.
Top Local Tips for New York City
Broadway ticket deals Don'f forget that beyond the Time Square Ticketplace for half price tix (now at Marriott Marquis), each theater usually offers same day student or standing room tickets for dirt cheap. Also, many have tickets returned for resale. Example, my student son stood in line on Sat. starting at 11 am for noon box office at Jersey Boys - a total sell-out show. No student tix that day, but he scored a returned aisle orchestra seat for me at $118 and he stayed to get standing room ticket distributed at 1 pm for $26.50 for 3 pm matinee. Yes, he really had to stand through the performance - leaned at back of the orchestra. It was worth it!
CHEAP SHOW TICKETS Go to all ticket box offices the day before you want tix or that morning. Find out what their policies are for lottery tickets or "rush" tickets or college student last minute tix. Lotteries are from 2 1/2 hours to 1 1/2 hours ahead of time, and give each person a chance at 2 last minute tix for around 26.00. Otherwise, line up ahead of time for RUSH or Student tix, again 2 per person in line, same price. Often first row, but much cheaper than TKTS for the budget traveler!
Getting around You should buy the 7 day unlimited subway pass. No matter how great the location of the hotel in Manhattan, you're going to need to take the subway from Point A to Point B. Manhattan is too big to walk everywhere. The subway is much cheaper than taxi. Check out the 1/2 Price Ticket Booth in the morning for discount tickets to same day musicals and plays. I think it opens around 10am. Also, for a great view of the Statue of Liberty, take the Staten Island Ferry. It's FREE!
