The room was very dingy and we were worried that the sheets were not clean. The desk clerk was very rude and unhelpful. The "breakfast" was far from a breakfast or even snack. The pool paint was chipping off the pool deck. Our bathroom wasn't clean, no shampoo or conditioner, no tissues and the floor wasn't clean. Hotel was under renovations and still shouldn't be opened with inadequet staff. Room rates are very pricey for the condition of the hotel.

We stayed here for a hockey tournament, the staff was great. We had a meal package. The breakfast was good. Dinner wasn't...but overall we had a great time. The pool was clean but the jacuzzi wasnt working at the time.

Lake Placid is not for the faint of wallet Bring your credit cards, and your walking shoes, hills to climb, steep prices for restaurants and exclusive shops in downtown on lake, even in the off-season, (May). Lake Placid is a trek to get to from anywhere, on long winding mountainous roads, through small towns in the Adirondacks

Cute and quaint The main shopping attractions in Lake Placid are in the old buildings along Mirror Lake. There are a couple of outlet stores, a lot of sporting goods stores, souvenirs, antiques, and books. Especially interesting was the shop selling books and tobacco, which had three levels all packed with new, old and rare books. Price Chopper supermarket is located to the northeast of town, on the main road to Tupper Lake. We found a really good Italian eatery on the main road, opposite the indoor skating rink.
