Great room and proximity to all

We just came back from our weekend in Lake Placid and stayed at Art Devlins Olympic Motor Inn and it was great. The rooms had two big double beds and still had room for a table and two chairs. Great clean bathroom. Wished it had a small coffe maker as it was incredibly cold to go out to the lobby just for the continental breakfast and get coffee. Ample parking which some of the other more expensive places don't have. It is walking distance to the Olympic Arena and some eateries. For someone not used to the kind of cold they had maybe too cold to walk to the middle of town where the shops or the other of main street but there is municipal parking. I would definitely stay here again.

Thsi is a superb motel offering fantastic value for money and I cannot believe you could find better in the region.
We liked:-
1. Nice big room with a table and chair, plus armchair. Comfortable beds.
2. Beautifully decorated (deep pile carpets, wooden ceiling, modern furniture and fixtures)
3. Small balcony with chairs to view the surrounding hills
4. Tiled bathroom with spa bath
5. Friendly staff
We didn't like:-
1. Lack of coffee making facilities
2. No iron or board
We ate at the Great Adirondacks Steak & Seafood Restaurant, which we found to be really good - service was great as was food. Appears slightly expensive compared to some similar local restaurants but probably worth it ....
All-in-all, we thought Art Devlin's was absolutely great and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone staying in the area. We would also commend the Great Adirondacks Steak & Seafood Restaurant.

We chose Art Devlins Olympic Motor Inn for our 4-day Columbus weekend getaway. We we greeted and checked in immediately. The room was immaculate, and the bathroom spotlessly clean. The price was more than reasonable for this lodge, located right on the end of Main Street. They have 2 friendly German Shepherds who live on the premise, and the lodge is pet friendly. The beds are very comfortable; I brought my own pillow and slept as good as or better than I do at home. It was within walking distance to all shops and eateries. We were very pleased, and would definitely stay here again. Yes, the towels are a little thin, but if you want plush, then spend the extra money and stay at the Hilton! We are so glad we picked Art Devlins!

My family and I just returned from our yearly trip to Lake Placid. Each year we try staying at a different place and this was our first stay at Art Devlin's Olymipic Motor Inn. I stayed there for two nights with my wife, 10 month old son, and dog. This motel is about 0.4 miles from one end of the shopping strip along Mirror Lake (near the Golden Arrow) and about 0.8 miles from the other (near the Hilton), so walking around town from the motel is pretty easy.

The entire place has been recently renovated and it shows. The parking lot, lobby, rooms, and pool area are all in very good condition and tastefully decorated. The room was rather large and included a balcony as well as a small fridge in the bathroom -- a plus for traveling with children. The motel is also pet friendly -- a plus for saving on kennel costs. The owner also has a large German shepherd that roams around freely, which is okay if you like dogs but perhaps intimidating if you don't.

I would say the quality of the rooms is better than those of either the Hilton or the Golden Arrow and the price is much better. We paid about $120 / night for a room here during the peak of fall while comparable rooms at the Hilton and GW were running for $200 and $170 / night. The pool also looked nice with an ~8' deep end, but was outside and closed while we were here (around Sep 30).

Overall, if you're looking to get the royal treatment (Lake Placid Style) and you want to stay in town, consider the Mirror Lake Inn. If you want a place that's family friendly with an indoor pool or right on Mirror Lake, consider the Golden Arrow. However, if you're looking to save money without sacrificing comfort or security, Art Devlin's is the place for you.

Excellent hotel, very clean with wonderful service! Actually checked out of a $259 per night filthy cottage at Holiday Inn to experience exceptional service for a fraction of the price. Don't miss this one!

Thoroughly Enjoyable

My wife and i just returned from this motel after a 5 night stay. Having been to the Lake Placid area many times, I was pleasantly surprised with this motel. It is very clean and very well maintained, the view from our second floor balcony of Mt. Marcy was outstanding. The location of the motel is great within walking distance of the shops and restaurants on Main Street. A short drive and you are in Wilmington (Whiteface Mtn.), the Olympic venues, Saranac Lake etc.. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, most of all the price was right. It is rated 3 diamonds by AAA. We would highly recommend the "Art Devlin's Olympic Motor Inn" to anyone visiting Lake Placid.

Great Value

My ten year-old son and I stayed two nights at Art Devlin's in early August.

The room was a good value - we paid $88 per night for a double room on the second floor. The room had two queen size beds. The room was spacious - one of the largest I have stayed in. The second floor room had a high ceiling.

There was a small refrigerator in the bathroom that was good for keeping our drinks cold as well as the fruit that we bought at the local grocery.

The rooms have outside entrances - no interior hallways.

The Inn is close to the Olympic Center - less than a ten minute walk. It is also convenient to the out of village Olympic Sites - Whiteface Mountain, Ski Jump Complex and Bobsled Complex are all within a 10 to 15 minute drive - you do not have to drive through the congested center of Lake Placid to get to these sites.

A continental breakfast is offerred from 7 to 11. Home made muffins, doughnuts and coffee.

Checkout is at 11:00 a.m.

While Devlin's is a good value, this is not the place to go if you want to be pampered. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were rather dated and very thin. I wish I had brought my own. Each bed had two pillows and you could not stack them up to be able to sit up in bed and watch TV. Parking spaces were limited. We arrived back to the hotel about 11:00 p.m. and found only one space available in the lot. The bath towels were also dated - not very plush.

The air conditioner did not seem to be very strong. I really could not get the room really cold like I prefer. The shower head in the bathroom was too low for my preference. I am 6-2 and the shower head was below the top of my head.

The pool outside our room looked nice, but we did not get a chance to go in.

The hotel had wireless internet, but the phones do not have dataports if you do not have wireless capabilities.

I did not come to Lake Placid to spend a lot of time in my hotel room - therefore Art Devlin's Olympic Motor Inn met my requirements. I would stay here again, but I would try to bring my own pillow. :)

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Lake Place where we stayed at this inn. I had made reservations based on other people's reviews on this site. All the wonderful reviews of this inn were true to form. We had a larger second floor room with a high ceiling. There were two queen size beds, a table with two chairs, a leather reading chair, wonderful bathroom with a great showerhead and lots of hot water. The room was very, very clean, bathroom also. We had a balcony overlooking the pool area and mountains in the distance. The grounds of this inn are beautiful and well-maintained. They do allow pets, and quite a few people had large dogs. My husband and I are used to large dogs, so it didn't bother us at all. If we return to Lake Placid in the future, I would definitely stay here again.

this place was perfect for our 3 nights in Lake Placid. I can't think of too many more adjectives that haven't already been used to describe Art Devlin's Olympic Motor Inn. I was amazed at how quiet it was during the evening, which was great! I think the motto here may be "early to bed, early to rise". It's nice to have the option of a short walk downtown to where all the action is. Decent size room with comfortable beds. The bathroom was absolutely sparkling clean, looked brand new. The view from our room and pool was picturesque with the mountains and ski jumping facility in the background. The grounds were well maintained. We also liked that our room on the first floor had a small landscaped yard outside the door. Most places it's nothing but a parking lot when leaving one's room. We will definitely be back some day. There just so much to do in the area. We also enjoyed eating at The Downhill Grill restauraunt, which is right around the corner from Art's. It's very casual, but great food!

Quiet, Clean, and Convenient

We stayed here in late July. The place was fantastic and a great value. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were huge. Just a short walk to the village and some awesome restaurants and shops. If you do not want to walk, there is a free shuttle service that stops right outside the motel. Pool was clean and the water was warm. You can't go wrong staying here.

Top Local Tips for Lake Placid

Skip the Chain Hotels The attractions in Lake Placid are completely outdoors - shopping in the well stocked village, skiing, boating, hiking, dining. Skip the expensive chain hotels and stay at an excellent place owned by friendly locals like Art Devlin's motel in Lake Placid, or any of the reputable cottages, cabins, or B&Bs. Don't miss the excellent, super cool and quaint village of Saranac Lake, just ten minutes down the road.

Great Dinner Go to Jimmy's in town about 10 mins. walk up the hill - reasonably priced (about $45 pp with tip & tax, incl. bottle of wine). Wide variety of food - everyone at the table liked their dinner.

Getting around Everything in the village area is in walking distance, the village is only around 1 mile long on the strip. even with snow fall its easy to get around. Sidewalks are usually clean and vehicular traffic is extremely aware of pedestrians. there are more people walking than driving. So driving around the village area is really not needed! If you need to drive, there are several parking lots to pay by the hour or day or parking meters along the street!
