We stayed here for a week in August. Our cabin had two bedrooms, so my husband and I used one and our 2 small children shared the other. The kitchen was not well-stocked at all, and the stove was filthy. There were many stains on the carpets and the furniture was made of contact paper that was peeling off. We only went to the beach once because you have to walk down a very steep hill, and we had 2 strollers and too much stuff to carry. The pool was nice enough. The advertised store and restaurant were rarely open, but there's a handy deli next door called Ray's, so we went there instead. We had stayed in the area the summer of '07, and our motel then seemed much nicer and cleaner. Clinton Inn was overpriced considering the dirty room. The play area was okay.

Our family as been staying here for over 30+ years. It used to be called Stone Gate, And then it was beautiful. You could drive to the lake, the grounds were well kept, and the restaurant was open for all 3 meals. Since it has been Clinton Inn, they have been more concerned with $$ for themselves, and not the comfort of the travelers. It is sad, because it used to be a great place to stay.

Setting is pretty. Furniture was cruddy. Doors were filthy with handprints of previous guests. Advertised store was closed. No telephones or internet access. Float in water is falling apart and dangerous. Overpriced, considering.

Four of us stayed here for Americade. We saw it online and it looked nice. The location's pretty, but that's it. Both our rooms were dusty when we got there. There were allot of suspicious stains. The furniture is plastic and it's peeling and chipped. The bathroom floor had gross hairs. For the price, we expected much more. Friends of ours stayed at Diamond's Point, and their room was much nicer than ours and cheaper too. Next year we'll go there instead. Too bad because it is a pretty area and Americade was as awesome as ever!!!!

We came down for Americade. Our usual place was booked so we tried this. One group had a cottage which was old and dirty. Holes stains and cobwebs. Our hotel room was slightly newer looking but still crappy. Breakfast was good. Our maid was useless. On the third day we finally got our beds made. Our advise: Read the reviews of other travelers before you waste your money! Americade rocks but Clinton Hotel doe NOT!!

This place has a lovely location and the bones are there to make it a nice place. However, the cabins appear quite old and ours was rather shabby inside. The furniture and rugs were stained and the furnishings appear rather cheap. The prices seemed high considering the condition. We did have a nice breakfast at the coffee shop. Next year, we'll seek someplace a little nicer.

My wife and I were there in early August. we had 2 toddlers and we also asked if we could drive down to the beach to drop off their things. My grandfather was also with us, and he'd recently had knee surgery and was unable to walk too well yet. We were told emphatically that NO CARS WERE PERMITTED BEYOND THE SIGN AT ANY TIME!!! I wish we'd had the same treatment as the people before us, because by not being able to get down there, our trip was pretty much ruined. We could have stayed in the city if we'd wanted to swim in a pool!

This past July, my partner and I stayed here for a long business weekend. He has asthma, so the walk back up from the beach wasn't possible. We asked in the office and the man told us that the beach actually belongs to the private house down there, and that we were allowed to use it, but under no circumstances were any cars permitted, whether just dropping off or not. He even directed us to a posted sign by the vending machines near our room that stated the same thing. Someone better get their stories straight here. Either you can drive or you can't, and if the beach is private, then they shouldn't advertise it as a feature of the place. That's extremely deceptive. Speaking of deceptive, they also advertise a store and restaurant, both of which were usually closed. They also advertise a putting green, but that was non-existent and overgrown too. What's with this place? In the future, we'll look elsewhere, because we don't fancy being lied to.

So Happy We Went

The Clinton Inn was recommended to us by some friends. I wanted to do a little research before we went and I found this site. Even though some of the reviews were negative, we decided to take our chances.

We are so happy we did. Our room was well maintained and very clean. The staff was extremely helpful. The grounds were nice and our child enjoyed the new playground. The beach was lovely. The walk to the beach with an infant was tough but when we asked if we could drive down to drop some things off at the beach, the staff said it would be no problem as long as we brought our car right back up the hill.

We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the Clinton Inn. We have stayed in several other places in the area and we plan on going back.

We agree with everything everyone else said. I wish we had seen these reviews before booking, but their website looked nice. The location is nice and the lake is beautiful. Everything else about the resort itself is bad!!! It's run-down, dirty, and lacking in essentials. The staff seems rather unfriendly, too.
