I drive I-90 for business and always passed this place (you can see it from the highway). When the chain I always use in Utica was filled, I took a chance on this independent. What a nice surprise to find super clean updated rooms with a super pool, fitness room, really decent complimentary breakfast, nice staff, they had everything the chains have without the price! Very reasonable, very very clean, clerk said they are going through a total re-hab.. 2nd generation of the same family that built it in the 60's.. I will return,especially for the pool! (it was just the thing on a hot steamy day)

Top Local Tips for Herkimer

More to do around Herkimer than you may think Be sure to spend some time at one of the two "diamond" mines nearby, especially if you are traveling with children. We had a ball scouring the mine for Herkimer diamonds (quartz gemstones, really).Also, there is tubing and kayaking nearby down a large swift moving creek, Baseball Hall of Fame is less than 30 minutes away, and lots of antque shopping on the way to Cooperstown. Oh, and 3 breweries nearby to tour and sample.

wOULD oF IDEAL lOCATION My husband is disabled and this would of been perfect for our family to stay at. But since they are very discriminating we would not recomend this to anyone. Disabled or not.

Herkimer Diamond Mine Great place for family to explore-very kid friendly (week long kids camps), and KOA Campground on site. Adults can pan for treasure, and roam through the store which is a museum in itself- very enlightening, and friendly knowledgeable staff. We found the 3rd week in July to be perfect weather for a tour of the Adirondacks and south shore of Lake Ontario.
